Amazing Daniela is in silky, brown dress. I love all the gymnasts, but she is my favourite. Of course, Nadia is untouchable, high in stratosphere…in a class of her own. I loved how fresh Teodora looked, much better than Nadia, though she is slightly older. It's a pity some important champions were missed, Emila Eberle, Melita Ruhn, Cristina Grigoras, Dumitrita Turner, Lavina Agache, and many others. A big part of the golden girls of Romania in one room...
I thought that the Romanian language was more difficult, but when listening to this ceremony and as it has been presented, I realize that relatively well enough things are understood (at least for a Spanish, like me).
Who's the one with the glasses? She looks very cool - artsy - I like it. Good to see Gina Gogean; always one of my favorites, she looks like a cross between Liza Minelli and Mitzi Gaynor. I still adore Silivas & Dobre. And Raducan is also more gorgeous than ever.
I can't understand how someone can hate Nadia either. Probably due to jealousy. It seems to be human nature to despise those who are doing well. They keep comparing her to the more modern gymnasts, degree of difficulty-wise- but back then they didn't have spring board floors and the equipment was different. I think that the gymnastics back then were better, aesthetically. More beautiful and creative.

its best that you read and learn more on the history of artistic gymnastics. during the begnning of sport the russian were winning the on each of every olympics and then nadia nadia came along from where the romanians dominated, 1984 was the year when US emerge to be one of the finest gymnastic teams, not to mention the flock of Russian and Romanians migratng to the US.
If yu read her book it seems like she's very humble... It's not her fault everyone loves her... It's partly my fault actually because I think Nadia's great! Also I just feel for her feeling like she had to have surgery... I wish people could realise how beautiful they look before surgery.

In the early 90's Emilia moved back to Hungry as she was ethnic Hungarian. She changed her name back to the original Gertrud Emilia Eberle as dictator Nicolae Ceausescu had it changed while she was a gymnast to make it sound more Romanian. I don't think she's involved in gymnastics at all now. She was probably not invited as she's Hungarian now.
No.She fight for title not for gold.A gold medal she received from major of Bucharest in name of all romanians who love her.To give back gold medal means FIG to recognise own mistake.Real problem was:3 romanian on podium.They get mad!Super power country out of podium.Only romanians.This is the real reason.They changed rule:not anymore 3 athlets from same country!They was afraid to not win again 3 romanians.She wasn't convict,next year she compete and she won.
I hope in the next Olympics in Tokio , I want to see a strong Romanian team. The Americans dominated the sport for the last 20 years thanks to Bela and Marta Karoly. With Marta retirement, let's see if the American team still dominates.

I don't think that's the case. Many of the women there are not currently living in Romania (Nadia, Daniela Silivas, Ecaterina Szabo - they all live in other countries). Many others who won medals are not there (Sofronie, Eremia, Monica Rosu, Cristina Bontas - to name just a few). I don't know if they weren't invited or they just couldn't come. If they weren't invited, then it is a shame. But I really don't think the place they live in is an issue.
Hmmm I suppose you wouldn't write that in your book! I don't know... I just prefer not to judge other people negativly and just give them the benefit of the doubt, otherwise i'd be cross with LOTS of people all the time!

The announcer says we have here just some of the wome that won togheter 200 medals of which 97 gold - at Olympic, Worlds & Europeean championships: Nadia Comaneci, Daniela Silivas, Ekaterina Szabo, Teodora Ungureanu, Maria Olaru, Gina Gogean, Andreea Raducanu, Catalina Ponor, Simona Amanar. The men are also Olympic and World champions: Marius Urzica and Marian Dragulescu.
Nadia was my favourite gymnast when I was a girl, but she looks ridiculous now. She's almost 50 - please act like it. I think the movie "How to make an American quilt" was named after her 'cause she's had just as much stitching as a quilt.
Nadia and Teodora are my favorites. They worked hard together.
