Nice video! My old table grinder I inherited from my Grandpa stopped working and didn’t know why. Watched your video and popped the bottom open to gladly find that the capacitor just came unplugged. Works again, thanks!

Thanks for this video. I have an old delta grinder that needs a new capacitor. The only markings are SH cap 8 mfd / 250 volts. Would yours work for me and what type and model did you buy so I can order one as well.

Hi, I need to replace a capacitor in my grinder, the existing one is 4.2 +-5% microfarads, and the closest I can find is 4.5 microfarads, will that cause an issue ? Thanks

Thats all the information needed to find a new one the big thing is to make sure it is a 10uF and that it is rated above 250 volts A/C. something like this should work www.ebay.ca/itm/CBB60-450VAC-10uF-5-Wired-Terminal-Motor-Start-Capacitor-NEW/400564188991?hash=item5d437c773f:g:aDoAAOxyrrpTiZoZ

Hey...enjoyed the video...my grinder also has the same issue but I have no idea what to look for...could you explain to me what I need. What is written on mine is...CAP 10uf W.V. 250.AC CBB60-1 HX MF Capacitor....any help would be great. The grinder is a no name from Canadian Tire that they later used Job Mate brand name...if I knew this at the time I would have purchased a good brand name....it has very little use on it.....Thanks

Hi there, glad you enjoyed the video! If your grinder is having the same issues as this one, (won't turn/or turns only when manually started) the capacitor is usually the problem. Make sure the rest of the wiring is intact and check if there is any visible damage to the capacitor. If the capacitor needs to be replaced, you will need is a 10 uF motor running Capacitor. -- www.ebay.ca/itm/Polypropylene-Film-Cylinder-Shaped-CBB60-10uF-Motor-Running-Capacitor-W6U2/123412172789?epid=1869197561&hash=item1cbbf04ff5:g:NXYAAOSwHb9buvmA:rk:9:pf:0 -- will work if it physically fits into the grinder. Hope this helps, if you have any other questions I will help as best I can!

I have an old bench grinder that someone "repaired" before I acquired it. It needs to be completely rewired. It turned on when I plugged it in but the switches did nothing, it just turned on. All the old wiring was badly spliced back together, just left exposed inside the case, and to top it all of it was packed with oily dust and pet hair. I'm just happy it didn't catch fire. I have already taken it apart but I can't remember how it was wired and I dont know much about electronics yet. Can I fuck up the windings if I rewire it wrong? Its ok if I break the capacitor but I don't want to break the grinder.

You will most likely fry the capacitor or trip a breaker before anything else. I would try to look up a wiring diagram for the model of that motor/grinder, and failing that a basic capacitor start motor wiring diagram. Best of luck!

    What hp is the grinder?

It unfortunately doesn't say on the plate. But judging by the size it is either 1/4 or 1/2
