Don, I love how perplexed you are by Taemin 😂 what makes him so unique is his blend of masculine and feminine energy. His strong influence of MJ. And his technicality. The control he has to be able to do such subtle movements with so much energy. He's hands down one of the GOATs of kpop dancers.
Talk about feeling the music with intention. Watch Taemin's hands right down to his finger tips every time he dances. This man does nothing in his life unintentionally especially not dancing.
A while ago I requested that you react to famous- Taemin dance practice! You will REALLY be able to appreciate him and the other dancers in that video and how they hit the choreo. It’s crazy to me!!!!
This is my favorite reaction of Move so far! As a former dancer myself, I love how you notice and get excited over all the details in this dance practice. Move has remained to be one of my favorite choreography even after how many years.
This came out around the time he clearly made a choice to switch things up and not go the direction that performance otherwise was in the industry. He committed to making sure that every song had a character tied to it, not just the moves themselves. There's always signature clothing pieces for example, with Move it was sleeveless tops. (It's why sometimes the dance practices aren't quite as impactful if he's not fully in it and in front of an audience.) This one is not the hardest thing to execute technically, but committing to the vibe is a whole other story. Excited to see you get to know him more, there's plenty to choose from!
Its one of the reasons TAEMIN is well known as the KOREAN MJ OF KPOP because of his uniquely fusion dancing style as well as his powerfully angelic voice
Move is probably his most iconic choreo. It feels like every Kpop idol under the sun has tried to cover it at one point, but none of them can match his unique way of performing it. There is definitely something so special about Taemin's dancing and sometimes it is hard to pin down exactly what but he is just so captivating and mesmerizing to me. I hope you'll check out the dance practices for Idea, Criminal, Danger (his solo debut and such pure MJ vibes), and the duo practice for Sayonara Hitori (Goodbye Alone). Thanks for the reaction!
I love how I'm surrounded by so many Taemin fans in this comment section ❤❤😂 love it here, all the comments are on point! Also " do she got on on timbs??" Lol please do watch his mv's this deep dive will be more than worth it ✨
i definitely recommend watching his performance of this at seoul fashion week to get an idea of what the finished product looks like. this is such a unique song and choreo, one of my favorites in kpop
I love that you are just as happily puzzled as the rest of us. It's so hard to pinpoint what it is exactly. Like I find myself reduced to just saying "it's Taemin" that's it. He is totally unique. Move was the first choreo of his I'd seen and I was stunned. It's pure body control, androgynous, contemporary but not, like it's angular and sharp, but also really smooth in the movement... words fail me. And he keeps that same vibe with all his work. Move is a really popular dance to cover with other idols but so few actual nail the right vibe of it. Taemin makes it look easy, but seeing other professionals not quite capture it really shows how talented he is.
Yes Taemin is diff. T-pop (Taemin pop). He’s very unique. You will so much in his discography, truly a great performer, Artist, dancer, singer. I really recommend famous dance practice (from his Japanese discography), drip drop mv, idea dance practice, criminal dance practice. Also this song/choreo for Move was called “move disease”. It got everyone moving.
Definitely watch the mv. The choreographer Koharu Sugawara dances with Taemin in it. Another dance practice to watch is Famous. His Japanese dance crew are really good.
Taemin, much like MJ, became famous perhaps too young and has also had a life with some tragedies. I see the true eloquence of he movements as a kind of highly controlled joy and pain. There is a lot more than just technique and skill in every fluid bounce. He really is something special.
Your reactions and comments are the best. I Love! I love your dance explanations. Don't be surprised to see Michael Jackson's energy in Taemin's performances. Virtually everyone sees the same and Taemin himself does not hide that he has been a fan of Michael since pre-teens.
This choreography was born out of mutual respect and understanding between two great artists - Koharu Sugawara and Taemin. Basically Koharu tailored this whole dance (the style, the feel of it) to match Taemin’s unique energy and artistic persona. And no one, I repeat no one has been able to replicate this unique feel although everyone and their momma tried… That’s the thing about Taemin - he’s such a natural dancer, with absolutely unique sensuality and musicality. You can teach people the moves but you can’t teach them how to feel and interpret the music. That’s why he’s my favorite artist in Kpop, in my opinion his artistry is unmatched. Please react to Criminal, but preferably one of his life performances or MV. To be perfectly honest Taemin never goes full on with his dance practices. If you wanna feel the performance it’s better to watch a live rendition.
I think what makes Taemin so unique and special is that it's like he "lives" the dance/choreography, if that makes sense. His dancing feels so genuine, like he's feeling it in the depths of his soul. He's truly an artist!
Taemin is completely unafraid to be himself, to do moves that other male soloists may brush off as “feminine”. But Taemin from the time he debuted was called pretty and androgynous, and he turned it into part of his brand in a way no one can scoff at. He has shown that he can do any vibe, any look, any concept…he can just perform the hell out of it. His longtime contemporary Koharu is in this one (short black hair) and she choreographs this one with Taemin, as he was looking to break gender stereotypes with the choreo and video feel. No one does it like Taemin.
This choreo is special - it became iconic in the Kpop world and imitated by many artists, specially his "pigeon" move...look at the Sayonara Hitori song, his japanese song, that is another layer of Taemin...he is very unique and my bias in KPOP world.
I bet you will love his group shinee they have amazing dance practices, (they were actually the first group who did a dance practice in kpop) Some of my favorite dance practices for them : Sherlock Good evening Married to the music (video performance) View (video performance)
for me personally, Taemin himself is an art in his own unique genre (which I see he found his true music and art style since 'Move'), with his 'velvety' voice and silky smooth dance... he is an artist that let the song/music flows throughout his whole body and thats why even so many other idols covering Taemin's dance routine, none of them will give the same feeling like Taemin does~
If you're wanting to check out the MV, I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND MV #3. There are 3 versions of the MV. MV #1 is the actual music vid (which I do recommend as well), MV #2 is a solo perf. vid with his backup dancers that are in this dance practice, and MV #3 is a duo version with the choreographer of Move, Koharu Sugawara. MV #3 IS superior and no one can change my mind. NO ONE approaches Move choreo the way Koharu and Taemin do.
HAHAAAAA!!!!!! i was wondering when he would do MOVE !!!!! it's my fave Taemin Solo ! it's so suave ! And it's Contemporary based wich my style of dance ! he is so gooood and in control of his body !!!!!!
Great reaction, picked up on a lot of things I normally wouldn't notice as a non-dancer. Taemin is a performer that had me instantly hooked, and it was this video that got me. I'd love for you to see his dance practice to the song "Famous" where he dances with his Japanese team this time around, they're an elite bunch! Love seeing them perform.
it feels different because it's taemin :) you're absolutely right -- he approaches everything with so much emotion and sincerity. he gets called a lot of things and given a lot of titles, but to me, he is truly one of the most Real Performers (capital P) i've ever had the pleasure of watching. the duet version of this is also soooo worth watching. but seriously, everything he does is worth watching😭💀
TAEMIN’s close friend and the woman who choreographed that dance world-class Japanese choreographer #KoharuSugawara who happens to dance along side TAEMIN in his MV toward the middle and he is also fluent in Japanese speaking as well.
When I say I dirty laughed, because Don paused it at the amazing stationery leg kick. Love your reactions and so glad your finally giving the Soloist like Taemin air time 🙏🏾
As a dance teacher, I think you’d really enjoy checking out Taemin teaching two of his dances to members of NCT on the Shinee channel. ‘IDEA’ Dance Tutorial ‘Criminal’ Dance Tutorial
I don't know how much you know about Taemin. He's from a very famous and popular group called Shinee. They are the cream of the crop. They actually invented dance practice videos. A couple of my personal favorite Taemin videos are Press Your Number performance version 2 (just Taemin and the camera, absolutely amazing) and Famous dance practice. It's also a good idea to check out Shinee's Key. Among my favorites are Gasoline dance practice and Bad Love performance version. A great intro to Shinee would be the Don't Call Me or Married to the Music performance video. Amazing.
I love how you commented on Taemin's approach to the choreography, in fact all of his choreographies. I think what stands out about Taemin for me from so many other dancers/dancing is that he feels the moves so deeply and entirely. He feels every step and gesture, and you can see it from they way he moves and his facial expressions. I've only seen it in two others, Kai (from EXO) and Jimin (from BTS). They're beautiful when they move, it's so attention-gripping. If you're to go deep into Taemin and Kai's older videos, you'll see that they've been like this for as long as they could dance. They love to dance, and they show everyone that they do.
The look and feel for "Move" is very specific, it's supposed to be androgynous and gender neutral. Early in his career, when Taemin was growing up in SHINee, he was known for his feminine look. Which ended up giving him a real complex about the fact that people never saw him as a masculine man. It took him a long time to accept that he was known for his looks and to come to terms with the fact that everyone thought of him as a "pretty boy," etc. So, at this point in his career, as a 24 year old -- he is 28 now -- he was trying to make a statement about how he has now come to terms with just being himself and not caring what people think. Dancing is art and movement has no gender. "Move" features all female dancers because the whole point of the song and dance is supposed to be about crossing gender boundaries and how just because you are male doesn't mean your dance has to be hyper masculine. Taemin uses what is traditionally considered more feminine dance moves to show how you can merge both feminine and masculine styles together to create something that can't be singled out as one gender or the other. This dance allowed a more mainstream audience to start to embrace less traditional gender roles within Kpop. "Move" is one of Taemin's most famous choreographies and it has become the dance he is most recognized for. This dance has inspired what is known as the "Move disease," and it is said that the dance is so catchy that you can't help but try to imitate it. There are literally hundreds of videos online of people attempting cover dances to this song. (It is on the level of Beyonce's "Single Ladies" dance and some of the most famous TiK Tok dance challenges.) But no matter how good of a dancer they are, it is quickly apparent that there is just something about the way Taemin moves that can't be duplicated. Taemin is Taemin and there is no one else like him. The dance is never as sharp or precise as the way Taemin does it. That is why he is hands down considered one of the top two BEST dancers in the entire industry. As Taemin has said numerous times in interviews and on variety shows, the key point in "Move's" choreography is literally supposed to be to stare into the camera like you are trying to seduce the person who is watching. So, that is exactly what Taemin is doing. The choreographer for "Move" is Sugawara Koharu who is a well known Japanese choreographer. (She is featured in the MV for "Move" as well.) She also is the choreographer for Taemin's "Want" and his Japanese songs "Flame of Love" and "Sayonara Hitori," and she helped choreograph Taemin and her performance on the Korean competition TV show Hit the Stage -- "Devil" performance. She also was one of 3 or 4 choreographers that worked on his "Criminal" choreography. (She was also the choreographer for SHINee's song "Good Evening," among others.) Taemin and Sugawara are really good friends. Taemin has worked hard to become the magnificent and unique performer and person that we know him as today. But there really is no one that pushes him or holds him to a higher standard then himself. Taemin has said that he really has never taken a true vacation since he was a trainee -- he started with SM Entertainment when he was around 11 years old -- and he doesn't know what to do if he isn't constantly working and training. The thing that he hates the most is when people assume he has had it easy because he is part of a big and powerful company and he is so naturally talented. As he has said, there has never been anything that has come easy to him and he has only gotten to where he is today because he has worked hard to accomplish everything. He is constantly pushing himself to become the best of the best in everything he does. Taemin's choreography is very much influenced by him. Although he has input in almost everything he does, he has choreographers that come up with the choreography for most of his dances and he then infuses it with his own ideas and style and makes it uniquely his. The way Taemin dances is just the way he moves. His movements are effortless. As you have noticed, if you watch Taemin dance a lot, you will see that no matter who choreographs the dance, it will always be very Taemin-like. Many choreographers who have worked with him over the years have said that, with Taemin you can't help but allow him to move in whatever way his body takes him. Taemin is art in every sense of the word. :D Taemin's style of dance can't be defined. As he has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue that that now extends to the entire industry of dance. Taemin started out as a self-taught popper and locker without any dance training, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. Over the years he has infused those popping and locking skills into his now more contemporary style of dance. But, when it comes to dancing, he can do it all and there is no one better at it than him.
Taemin the artist is phenomenal. Thank you for your analysis, love it! In addition to Taemin's solo work and his work in SHINee and SuperM, there are also his "lectures" and documentary-style videos (with interviews by the lyricists, choreographers, etc.) in which Taemin discusses his process. As an artist yourself, you will especially appreciate his solo mvs, starting with his debut in 2014 with Danger, choreographed by Ian Eastwood. (He debuted at age 14 in 2008 with his SHINee members.) We're awaiting his second chapter upon his return from military service in a couple of months. Enjoy your journey! I forgot to mention that Move was considered a cultural reset and Taemin talked about how dance is genderless. So many other idols and celebrities covered Move and still do. His performances are riveting.
It is an absolute joy to watch you react to Taemin! I had so much fun with this reaction and I hope you will do more Taemin dance practices or choreography videos! Totally new subscriber here ❤️
If you're gonna watch this MV I have to let you know there are 3 versions. One of them is with the person who did the choreo (I think it's mv 2) and it's amazing cause their vibes are a little bit different but they match at the same time!
You should definitely watch the MV. I just love how everyone who reacts to him is so perplexed by how much of an individual he is musically and artistically. By far one of my favorite artist of all time. Can’t wait to see what else you react to
I am a fan of MJ and Prince, so naturally I’m a fan of Taemin. All of them, so artistic. I wonder if you would like ‘Your Number’ from SHINee. Its done in black and white, it’s purely a dance performance MV and I think it’s very artistic. Love the way you react and that you took your time with this one. I’ll be here when you react to the MV.
Yeeeeesssss I really liked your reaction!! I actually agree a lot with you (without bein a dancer lol) I really love Taemin, (he's my ult) and his approach to be and artist and an idol. When he talks about dance he mentions how he has controlled every single move, it's crazy. I've also heared from other dancers and idols how Move is actually hard to dance cause you have to be in the right mindset and exude confidence and sexiness to do it- a controlled sexy. In my opinion, the best cover there is of this song and choreo is the version that SF9 did on the reality show Kingdom. It's so so good, they added their own color but kept the essence of Taemin. Idk if you can post the reaction here, but I highly recommend you to watch it, you won't be dissapointed!!
Taemin actively fights against gender stereotypes, so you will see very blended choreo from him. He also is super supportive of the dancers he has along side himself. The choreographer is one of the dancers here. She kills it. (Also the way he isolates is so very clean) And yes big MJ influence for him I think the people that end up trying to tackle and cover this choreo often miss how he approaches each move seamlessly. How it all flows with power and subtlety. Idk something is just magic about how taemin dances
I know exactly what you mean when you say that it has a MJ feel to it. The choreo is very smooth and "easy" but also sensual at the same time. Also, when I say easy, I mean it looks easy, but 80% of the time it's not 🤣.
It's funny you said he gives you a Micheal Jackson feel because he's nickname is the Micheal Jackson of K-pop in terms of dance style. You should check out WANT.
Omg your reaction to this video is everything I didn't know I needed! Taemin has fluidity and so much charisma in his dance moves. I loved watching your honest opinion and reaction to his video. It felt very relatable and you were really paying attention to what he was doing!
You should react to more SHINee dances! Taemin is a member of SHINee, and they are well known for many creative choreos. Lucifer, Everybody, just to name a couple that would be great to react to! Edit to add another solo by Taemin is Danger, also has some MJ inspired moments, and choreographed by Ian Eastwood. Taemin actually flew out to LA to learn from Ian
Don! Thank you for reacting to this! I love the way you talk about dance. I can feel your passion and joy. Thanks for sharing some of that joy with us! :)
Definitely check out Want Dance Practice & Danger Dance Practice. I hope u can be able to react to SuperM to see how Taemin attacks the choreo in comparison to the other members (which Kai is one of them)🥰.
You should react to motley crew by hyunjin from stray Kids and the dance performance videos form the girl group xg. They are some of the best dance covers out there.
This man does nothing in his life unintentionally especially not dancing.
if michael jackson and prince had a child together it would be taemin for sure! haha the vibe, the voice, the choreo, he is up there.
More Taemin please!
Taemin + Koharu's choreo = magic
A while ago I requested that you react to famous- Taemin dance practice! You will REALLY be able to appreciate him and the other dancers in that video and how they hit the choreo. It’s crazy to me!!!!
Taemin- Famous dance practice hits everytime

You should definitely react to his FAMOUS and IDEA dance practices
Taemin’s the embodiment of music. 🎶💕🦋
Its one of the reasons TAEMIN is well known as the KOREAN MJ OF KPOP because of his uniquely fusion dancing style as well as his powerfully angelic voice
Of course, HIGHLY recommend the MV. But ALSO! Taemin "Criminal". Don. Pls. Taemin is just... there is no other like Taemin. No one else.
he’s like water that flows from one movement to another
He's so body aware and confident. There's a "try hard" feel to a lot of other artists. But he's got an ease and smoothness to him.
taemin is not the typical manly dancer who will dance as hard as can
he has created his own identity as dancer and artist, taemin is walking art🥰🥰
Move is probably his most iconic choreo. It feels like every Kpop idol under the sun has tried to cover it at one point, but none of them can match his unique way of performing it. There is definitely something so special about Taemin's dancing and sometimes it is hard to pin down exactly what but he is just so captivating and mesmerizing to me. I hope you'll check out the dance practices for Idea, Criminal, Danger (his solo debut and such pure MJ vibes), and the duo practice for Sayonara Hitori (Goodbye Alone). Thanks for the reaction!

taemin is dance, dance is taemin
Please react to Taemin IDEA dance practice... you will implode baby!!
This year I hope you will be enjoy every Taemin (SHINee Taemin , SuperM Taemin , and solo Taeimin) until april let's wait a little bit

Taemin's style of dance can't be defined.
Totally new subscriber here ❤️
I gave up trying to describe Taemin, he's just Taemin and thats it 🤷🏼♀😂
If you're gonna watch this MV I have to let you know there are 3 versions.
So so glad to see you reacting to this! I love seeing dance professionals react to this piece. It’s such a stunning song and dance. ❤
Taemin actively fights against gender stereotypes, so you will see very blended choreo from him. He also is super supportive of the dancers he has along side himself. The choreographer is one of the dancers here. She kills it. (Also the way he isolates is so very clean)
And yes big MJ influence for him
I think the people that end up trying to tackle and cover this choreo often miss how he approaches each move seamlessly. How it all flows with power and subtlety. Idk something is just magic about how taemin dances
I agree with the other comments here and love your vibe and content. I was lol at ur casual huge water bottle out of nowhere
you need to watch the MV!!!
Can't wait to see your reaction to the mv! Loved your reaction
He is pros!!! Taeminn is artt❤
Taemin💯💯
This is my absolute favorite reaction channel!!! I loveeee your reactions
Oh, yes
Hello to MJ’s Son
Son of the God
He is different
Just..
He IS the Art
Omg your reaction to this video is everything I didn't know I needed! Taemin has fluidity and so much charisma in his dance moves. I loved watching your honest opinion and reaction to his video. It felt very relatable and you were really paying attention to what he was doing!
React to Taemin 'Sayonara Hitori' and 'Famous' dance practice
I appreciate you reacting to more of taemin’s solo mvs thanks 🙏🏽
thank you for the taemin's reaction Video!!
Taemin actually flew out to LA to learn from Ian
i so agree with you thanks for your honest opinion
I love Taeminography.
I'd highly recommend reacting to Taemin 'Ace' but make sure it's the Beatburger version! It showcases his dancing so well
his hand gestures are like what I tend to do while listening to music " air piano".
love it.
Please check Taemin live stage.
Teamin is the separate journey in KPoP himself 💎

No MJ feel to me. But I like his moves.
You should react to motley crew by hyunjin from stray Kids and the dance performance videos form the girl group xg. They are some of the best dance covers out there.
