I remember my grandma playing this song and telling me “listen here billy, when I die I want you to remember me not for how I am now(on her death bed due to cancer) but how we used to listen to this song all the time, and when the solo comes up I want you to rock ur little heart out like we did in the living room before, and know I’ll be playing the air guitar with you every time! I love you grandma! No one will ever play the air guitar as good as you!

This was my father's favorite song. He died when I was nine years old, and he was only 35. He had been in pain for many years and deserved so much better. Forrest Gump gets the boring part of the song (comparatively) but it fits really well with the scene... And then Kingsman gets the utter Badass part for its utter badass church fight scene!
+Angiras Darbha honestly i feel like you need the whole song to get the full experience because the buildup from the beginning to the awesome guitar solo is so amazing
This was quite eventful for me when I was at a dance and they played this song. Music then is waaayyyy better than music now. Talent was required with artists being capable of bringing special emotional driven performances.
Jeeze this takes me back. Good friends , good drugs, good times. Damn I’ve gotten old. Youth today needs to quit bitching and savor their time because there is only a short few years to savor.
Song hits me deep in the feels lost my dad when i was 3 gone but never forgotten sad how some of the greatest years of my life have gone without him it's so hard to sleep at night thinking of him
I lost the love of my life on March 30 2019 and this song was the song he wanted played at his funeral today was the first time that my heart would let me bear to listen to it seince Rickey died and threw the tears and the heart break I'm so thankful for this song because the words speak straight to my broken heart are his heart I Love & miss you Rickey Dale Lundy Sr 4 now an always
Probably THE GREATEST SONG EVER WRITTEN EVER the guitar solo is insane I’ve loved the song since I first heard when I was 4 I’m 23 born in 95 wish music was still like this
I'm 65 and there has never been music like this since the song came out. I definitely want this played at my funeral. If I can even have one..... I don't even have life insurance...... Hopefully my daughter will remember what I told her I want. Cremated and put where the apple tree was. Both of my parents are buried there! Ashes ⚱️ of course. I miss them both and I really am sorry I left home and missed my mom's death. But my dad's death was painful enough. I love you guys and I pray 🙏 that I see you again!
Officer: “Do you know how fast you were going, son?” Me: “I don’t know...” Officer: “155 mph.” Me: “Oh...” Officer: “Why were you driving that fast?” Me: “The guitar solo from Free Bird was playing.” Officer: “Understood. Here’s a warning and don’t listen to Skynyrd when you’re behind the wheel again.”
As someone who saw his life in the form of drugs and false feelings from those drugs I was always using to fill that void that I could never fill cause those feelings the drugs gave me where only temporary but dealing with real life and having patience and excepting what happens good or bad plus the feeling I get from my kids and family when they are happy and sad are all real and mean more and last longer then temporary high from heroin or whatever God has truly shined his light on me and set me free love all y'all and god bless
Played at my dads funeral last year his final goodbye song. He was a biker and a rocker could play anything on guitar love him n miss him every day. R.i.p dad
Same here Nightpacer1. Back in 2006 I used to play this song with my brother and go crazy when the solo guitar part would start. Only bad thing was at that time I had to play with my joystick but my brother with guitar.
Exactly...even when i unlocked the song first in career mode(hard). i felt it was so boring and easy for such a bonus song. Little did i know that after 5 mins the guitar solo would start! ;)
I remember playing that game with my dad, brother and sister, and whenever my dad picked this song we always got annoyed with him because the song is so long.
Sorry for your loss. I wish you all the strenght and love in this terrible situation. Please know she' s waiting on the other side. God bless both of you.
Was at the farewell tour in Concord Ca, a few weeks ago.. Noone im their seat, damn near not a dry eye in the place. It was an amazing piece of Rock and Roll history and I was honored to be there. 🙏💚
Tamara G grandpa had it played live by my cousin who is a wiz on electric guitar. Coolest thing ever and people didn't know how to react. It was done tastefully but it was still freebird at a funeral lol so awesome. And he wouldn't have even struck you as a guy that would have wanted it but it happened...
“Free Bird” came on the radio when my Japanese lady friend was over for a visit. 3 seconds into the song she shouted, “This is a great song!” I said, “Wow, I didn’t know you heard this before?” She said, “I’ve never heard this before, but the introduction is so great, I can just tell it's a great song!” Very clever this Japanese lady. Quite beautiful too.
Why are there so many comments that go "I'm here because" or "Who else is here because"? Why do you think they're here, they want to listen to the song, the same reason why you're here.

samantha santillan I hope you are ok
His is looking down and smile
Baby
How are you doing
Forrest Gump gets the boring part of the song (comparatively) but it fits really well with the scene...
And then Kingsman gets the utter Badass part for its utter badass church fight scene!
Angiras Darbha agreed
thats why im here!
Angiras Darbha Now that would be an epic sketch. Forest Gump blending into Kingsman (as a flashback)
+Angiras Darbha honestly i feel like you need the whole song to get the full experience because the buildup from the beginning to the awesome guitar solo is so amazing
Jagers fall True
Anyone listening to this masterpiece in 2020???
🥁🎧🎻🎹📻🎶🎼🎵🎸🎼🎶🥁

Yap
Nah 3496 mate

Everyday brother
This was quite eventful for me when I was at a dance and they played this song. Music then is waaayyyy better than music now. Talent was required with artists being capable of bringing special emotional driven performances.
Pffft yeah okay.
man i sure was born in le wrong generation
Absolutely
Jeeze this takes me back. Good friends , good drugs, good times. Damn I’ve gotten old.
Youth today needs to quit bitching and savor their time because there is only a short few years to savor.
Kingsmen DIDN'T bring me here, a love for Lynyrd Skynyrd did

My Dads favourite song. Love you Dad ❤
At first didn’t think I was gonna like it by the end it’s growing on me and the solo in this is amazing loving it.
Officer: “Do you know how fast you were going, son?”
Me: “I don’t know...”
Officer: “155 mph.”
Me: “Oh...”
Officer: “Why were you driving that fast?”
Me: “The guitar solo from Free Bird was playing.”
Officer: “Understood. Here’s a warning and don’t listen to Skynyrd when you’re behind the wheel again.”
Saylor S that’s when you sit in front of the wheel and listen to Skynrd while driving with your hands behind your back
Completly no problem on the Autobahn. Greetings from germany :)

R.i.p dad
I remember playing this song in Guitar Hero 2 with my brother and us just going apeshit at the solo
Same here Nightpacer1. Back in 2006 I used to play this song with my brother and go crazy when the solo guitar part would start. Only bad thing was at that time I had to play with my joystick but my brother with guitar.
Ujyant Ramesh dafuq my hands with that song...................................................................burned out!
Exactly...even when i unlocked the song first in career mode(hard). i felt it was so boring and easy for such a bonus song. Little did i know that after 5 mins the guitar solo would start! ;)
I remember playing that game with my dad, brother and sister, and whenever my dad picked this song we always got annoyed with him because the song is so long.
i remember failing at one part when the song gets hard..like 6 mins in
My mom recently passed away, on the interstate coming home from college, my radio went from heavy rock to this song. It hit me a lot.
Sorry for your loss. I wish you all the strenght and love in this terrible situation. Please know she' s waiting on the other side. God bless both of you.

I want the song live and learn at my funeral
Tamara G grandpa had it played live by my cousin who is a wiz on electric guitar. Coolest thing ever and people didn't know how to react. It was done tastefully but it was still freebird at a funeral lol so awesome. And he wouldn't have even struck you as a guy that would have wanted it but it happened...
I agree
I had the band play it at my Friends Funeral, a benefit for his Kids. Very Emotional to this day to hear it.
my dad wants me to play let the bodies hit the floor at his when he dies......not the best choice
Professor Time awesome
Brace yourselves. People who saw Kingsman are coming! Amazing movie I must admit though...gotta go see it again lol
Haha! Yep Kingsman awesome film! :D
I lol'd - that's what brought me here. Will never see this song, nor Colin Firth, the same again.
nope neither will I lol!
BEST MOVIE EVER
insert reference to classy badass murderous rampage here lol
5 years ago today we buried my dad to this song rip dad
Why are there so many comments that go "I'm here because" or "Who else is here because"? Why do you think they're here, they want to listen to the song, the same reason why you're here.
Yes but it's a way to meet people who share your interests and make friends. What's so wrong with being part of a community?
I got an air guitar for my birthday. This is the first song i ever played. lol
Richard Northrup lmfao
Rest in Peace Dad
Richard Northrup love that thing 'but lost it
I listen to rap music but there's something special about this song
Me8 Me8 it really depends on the artist but he’s right, this song is special
Me8 Me8 that is false, who are you to say rap isn’t music?
@@TheLauraVEffect what are you even saying. Who are you to say rap isn't music. Music doesn't have to have instruments to be music.
@Me8 Me8 i agree, This song is music. Rap is just rap.
Heard this a thousand times and every time it still stirs something inside me..
Song gives me chills
Aaron C A life Time.
