This 1985 AMC Eagle was headed for the scrap yard, i swooped in with $200 cash and saved it from the crusher. Follow along for the “revival” on this first of many episodes!
Just snagged an 83 eagle wagon myself. Needs a little work (like extra rear hatch shock absorbers,etc) but planning a lot of projects to get it as an extra daily driver. Can't wait to drive it in the snow. Looking forward to future videos.
This one needs shocks for the rear hatch as well. A lot of other projects going on, the Eagle UA-cam series on my channel will begin in a couple months !
Appears to have the ultra rare Keyless Entry (from what I could make out), which would be the device above the rearview mirror mounted to the ceiling. I've been around AMC's and Eagle's my entire life and have never seen one, only ever just heard of the option of it. Looks like a solid vehicle for the price point. If you're interested in selling the car, let me know. I would love to add this one to my AMC Collection. I am also from Wisconsin, so the drive isn't too far for me.
Wow, great find ! So glad it freed up and ran..! ... I've got lucky too. As I've closed the deal on a '73 AMC Sportabout Gucci X ... That needs to be painted and reassembled ... So, I'm entertaining the idea of putting clips on UA-cam too ... Even though mines ten years apart, the style is near the same...The interior has the same lower shelf tray as yours ... But, I have only a 232, automatic, disk breaks and roof rack... The wagon body style is nearly the same... Same rear angle ... Mostly different grill / front area ... Anyway, looking forward to seeing another couple clips of yours ! Best regards 🇺🇸
The Eagle could have been a really great car. Perfect for sub-artic conditions that are common in Canada, Scandinavia, China and Russia. Cheaper than a Range Rover and with better fuel economy. If only they had made it with a 90hp turbodiesel for even better fuel economy. AMC was working with Renault at the time which did produce some suitable diesels that could have been turbocharged.

I'm from Wisconsin myself. These things were ugly but reliable and could almost go anywhere in the northwoods. Ours saw a lot of logging "roads".

The tray was from the factory.
Someone would what 2000 bucks for that in western Oregon even not running. Those engines are near bullet proof, 7 main bearings.
The Eagle was interesting, but a goofy looking car.
