My heartfelt Condolences to the people of Spain that have suffer from thiis devastating weather conditiones.. this is Hard to watch.. Love & Respect to all the Rescue teams and First Responders doing Amazing job 💞🇮🇸✌️😢💞
I'm in Malaysia where floods are to be expected in certain parts of the country. And we had indeed suffered some really severe ones, like in 2021. But for countries which are usually arid, there is significantly less predictability of how things will go when there's abnornally high rainfall. As with in Spain right now. Some really horrible scenes including at 2:49. This kind of event must serve as a warning for everyone, regardless of where they live, to think ahead of "worst case" situations. And have a rough plan on the options should these occur. My condolences to the families of those killed, and sympathies for the various losses suffered.
In this area they are used to heavy rainfalls but this was one in a millenia kind of event, you can't realistically create infrastructure to handle that. There was a red alert by the weather agency but people didn't take it seriously enough or the failed to communicate the severity of the situation. Many died trapped while they were trying to take their cars out of underground garages for instance.
Seeing the ice that we’ve lost in Canada has far reaching impacts. The atmosphere can hold more water now. Always been floods… the world more prone to it now.
A horrible event. Simply horrible. My sincerest condolences to all those affected. Be strong, Spain. You are a beautiful and resilient nation. Our prayers and thoughts are with you during this testing time.
So painful for Spain 🇪🇸, my heart goes out to the people and family's who have lost loved ones. Deforestation, climate manipulation, and naturally occurring weather, but of course the media only blame man made climate change. Pathetic 😢
When back to back hurricanes recently hit the US, a huge contributor to global emissions, Nepal was experiencing horrible floods. Nepal isn't responsible for huge emissions. Media barely covered Nepal's deadly and destructive floods
Lived in Spain for past 20 year. The rivers beds are dry a lot of the year so people use the dry river beds on the edge of villages to park their cars. As the rivers enter the towns they are usually routed into concrete channels that run down the main streets. Again I have seen people use these also as parking! What normally happens is that when rain is forecast people move their cars from the dry river bed. The concrete channels in the towns produces very fast flowing water. In this case such a large volume of rain fell that the channelized rivers in town centres could not cope with the volume of water. The water overflowed the banks of the river beds and dragged in cars, and lots of cane plants which blocked the channel further in the towns as it passed under bridges. On multiple occasions I have seen cars floating down rivers and I have also been to the beach after a flash flood and seen the water covered with giant cane stalks. It is normal in coastal towns and villages when a storm is known to be coming that cheap bricks "tochanas" will be temporarily cemented to a height of about 25cm in shop and house doorways so that the water can flow down the streets as an additional conduits direct to the sea. The storms are expected in Catalonia this weekend so The towns will be preparing all of the above to mitigate.
So sad 😢. Things like these are happening everywhere in the world now. Authorities are not prepared. Infrastructure is not prepared. Poor people and animals 😢.

Due to the terrain conditions around a huge part of Spain, flash floods will be for sure a more usual phenomena... Spain is a huge dry desert, and climate change heavy storms and rains will create more serious floods elsewhere in the country... Humanity have to learn that we can't control nature and we are an important part of it...! Unless humans start to think on a more sustainable and resilient way we are doomed to face always the same kind of "natural" tragedies...

People in government of countries has the responsibility to make sure infrastructures are properly put in place to protect the citizens of its countries. It is the citizens who voted these leaders in government and it's the citizens who pays taxes to get proper infrastructures done. Why these leaders don't do their job? Is the question
You work for 40yrs to have $1M in your retirement, meanwhile some people are putting just $10K in a meme coin from just a few months ago and now they are multimillionaires.
I want to compliment you, you have said it all. I am a little business owner and I really want to expand my business to the next level by making myself an investor but I really don't know how to go about it..
The photos are shocking, I'm looking at all the cars and trucks and it's almost like a child just left its toys on the floor and went to bed. Can't believe these are actual cars that were swept away. If this happened to heavy vehicles, imagine being a person trying to escape the water. Those poor people didn't have a chance.. not to mention the loss of material possessions, not everything is easily replaced/fixed by people.. so sad, I am fairly certain things will only get worse in the future.
If they had more heavy EV's then they wouldn't be swept away as easily as those lighter combustion cars, but then they'd have to face potential hazard of rusting and shorting EV batteries...

The 57 storm was worse. This video exaggerates, most of the Valencia autonomous region is fine. The Gota Fria storms have been taking place forever, there were warnings, the intense rain was mostly in hilly or mountainous areas, where little towns are built in narrow valleys. And please stop the climate change baloney, these storms are part of life.

It shows great ignorance and hypocrisy to say that the Dana has been the cause of the personal and material damage suffered. The damage has been caused by the absolute lack of intelligence of the governments. Decade after decade, the space of the rivers has been reduced, building houses, infrastructures and cultivation areas. These areas must always be left free so that when the river rises, there is somewhere for the water to flow. The Ministry of Public Works and engineers have built roads without pillars, strangling areas of the rivers that are flooded, causing them to overflow when they rise. So this damage, like that in Germany and like those that will often occur, is the work of man. Intelligence is a fallacy, I don't say it, but the damage caused by the model that the governments develop. All the damage must be fully replaced by the governments, since it is the urban planning plans, the urban planners, the infrastructures and the engineers, and the politicians who allow the rivers to be strangled, causing the severity of this damage. So as a means of communication, interview experts in hydrography, engineering and emergencies. I find it ironic to hear politicians saying that they will control the acceleration of climate change only by not poisoning the atmosphere. First, what has been done and is being done has created an imbalance that will extend for centuries. Second, the industrial economic model must slow down by 2/3. Third, the liberal economic model that drags us down and indoctrinates us from schools is in itself like a Hopenheimer, a destroyer of planets. Whatever has to happen will happen. Peace
