The people who talk the loudest usually have the least experience. I’ll admit, I’m not a professional cutter but every opinion I have is from talking to and learning from professionals and seeing their saws. The number of times I’ve been told I’m wrong from guys with no real world experience is insane, especially on the porting side and modifying saws I’ve heard some crazy stuff from people with no experience. I just had a guy tell me “no professional would braze a muffler because it will just melt” keep in mind this guy brags about cutting 10 cords a year but he knows better about saws than the professionals. I definitely get what you’re trying to say and I know so many other people in the same situation as you. It’s the same thing when I talk about some of the issues I’ve seen with the 500i but no one wants to listen. I just know that the guys like you who run a saw more in a day than most people do in a year probably know what they’re talking about more than most.
I appreciate a guy that cleans up what's around. Doesn't need to go find a brand new tree and make a fucking mess in the road. Much appreciated and I can plant 6 trees there once you get that deck gone. A forester. Thanks.
I appreciate your time explaining and showing what you have learned from your profession …that comment you have already made that mistake is bang on and one of the most annoying thing is one someone who hasn’t put time in or think they know something is them just wanting to hear themselves talk! thanks for your Simington and hand file videos full disclosure I’m just a firewood hack trying to learn
It took my a while to even understand what are you talking about. It’s hard to believe that someone would compare lifespan of saws used for seasonal cutting firewood and everyday use in logging proces. My father has been cutting firewood seasonally with Stihl 036 since 1998 and It’s still looking pretty good. I’ve been logging with ms462 for almost 4 years and I cannot understand how It’s still holding together without any breakdown. So yeah…hard to believe that someone would even argue. Greetings from the Czech Republic :))
I've never had good luck with any of the aftermarket pistons, bearings, cranks, crank cases, or cylinders. I've tried every different variation that existed at one time of "farmertec/Hutzl" They don't last and you'll spend more money in downtime and replacements than it will save you to run the aftermarket stuff. I think for cutting firewood or even a landing saw, maybe. But cutting timber, absolutely not!
For true logging they don’t, if you take the time to go through them, clean up flashing/bad castings and just make sure they are in good shape they will be perfect for a firewood cutter or a homeowner but they have to many issues to be a good professional saw
@@timberfallingcouple100% and there are even people here on UA-cam I’ve seen selling the cheap Chinese junk saws and they try to claim that they are as good or even better than original saws. I saw one guy say he knew the companies and china and had special ones that a ton of professional loggers are using and think they are better than the original saws, I wish I remember who it was
Definitely not enough to hear an argument with Mr 15 cord a year arguing with me about why my saws are abused because his lasted 15 years. Like, good job buddy, that's 15 months of use cutting timber. I've got saws with twice that that run fine.
No argument from me! My old 066 took a break and went chainsaw milling for awhile. Might be the only thing burns as much gas as falling timber. No problem. Can’t imagine one of these new saws holding up to that for any length of time at all. Fortunately it’s wearing dogs again and seems none the worse for wear.
But uncle Phil..................the dead wood is so much harder..............you only cut green wood.....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Everyone has to try and validate their selves to full time cutters when they probably couldn't hack full time cutting
None of the new saws make it a year without issues in Missouri. I'm curious, why a Cummins in the logging industry? Also, can you do a video on how you set up your truck for work and other use. Thank you.
Firewood is getting real expensive here..400 hundie a cord for Douglas fir or yellow cedar..files.bars..bar oil.2 cycle oil..chains..All cost money..I sell my cords at 300..it sells itself..i just produce it..but I work my azz off and I do 2 cords and done by lunch..Gotta start doing 3 cords a day cuz my expenses are a real mofo
At 900 per day I could do nothing but firewood and live like a king, but it's finding the days to deliver in between and it turns really quickly into 1 cord per day and a 300 a day salary
@timberfallingcouple Bro..My country is pooched..sooo far gone..And the dollar we have is sinking like the Titanic..Without Nature around me I would be a very unhappy dude..
There smaller saws suck also! I had a 25 and 17 for carving. 3 new carbs in both saws in 1 1/2 years and spark plug wires fall apart also! I have several echos I ve been running for years and never had problems with any on them other than preventive maintenance! I have a 462 and 66 that i ve have multiple carb issues and the fuel filters suck ass also not to mention the leaky oiler seals and the fuel lines are garbage when they go tit up I am back to HUSKY! They want to bankrupt ya on parts or sit ya down waiting for em on them new ones! I totally agree🤬😤😩💰💩💩💩

Nobody is a hack, I just get frustrated when people make it look like I have an angle rather than just realizing how much fuel we actually burn.
Nothing speaks louder than experience

I log and cut firewood, i watch your videos to learn and for enjoyment.
Yup, never argue with the professionals when your talking about their field of work. Listen and learn!
You will never feel listened to because fallers are too deaf to hear what you are saying.
Truth it’s impossible to explain to someone who can’t see the difference
Thanks again for your time 👍
Do aftermarket pistons, rings ect hold up well enough for logging? Or is factory the only way to go. Cheers
Everything has a life expectancy.

Yep I'm with you on that. Firewood is alot of other type of work that actually involves little sawing

660 is the shit
A lot of people just don’t get it😎

I think sawmilling is the hardest thing that there is can be done to a powersaw engine. I always forget to mention that.

I can do a video about that!
The cummins is just the thing I've almost always owned as an adult. I've owned 6 of them and I always end up with one.
A truck vid from you guys would be awesome. That'll get the people fired up!@@timberfallingcouple

@boneyardmilitia1836 I wonder what the exchange rate is on Canadian to us dollars. Can't be that bad.
@boneyardmilitia1836 holy chit!! One dollar is with 20 Canadian dollars that can't be right

Phil, ai really value and appreciate your input on here. You are a guy that has run the piss out of power saws.
😂 yup.🫡
Lol the fact that you needed to explain that clown shoes out there.
