On Thursday July 11th, the final appearance of the late Bill Hayes (Doug) is streaming on Peacock on Days of our Lives, in scenes with his real-life wife, Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie). As Doug and Julie, the longtime duo were daytime soap opera's first supercouple. Sadly, Bill passed away at the age of 98-years-old back in January of this year.
Now, DAYS fans will see the last on-screen moments between Doug and Julie, which is part of television history. In a very candid, emotional and heartfelt interview, Susan opens up about taping those final scenes with Bill, how she changed the dialog to make it be what she felt it needed to convey, where the genesis of Doug's final line to Julie came from, and more.
In addition, Susan shares for the first time the final moments of Bill's life, how she has continued to solider on to play Julie without Doug, working in current story with Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera) and much more.
July 11th is also Susan's birthday, and we send our love and well-wishes to her. Let us know what you thought of our conversation by dropping a comment below.

Just beautiful. The best of the best. Never be another love story like this.💝
Susan is such an incredible woman. ❤
Susan looks amazing! She was blessed to have such a good marriage.

Thank you Susan. You have beautiful memories. Bill is smiling down at you on this day
Susan, I have been watching Days since the beginning, however the lasting legacy of Days will be the love of Doug and Julie and Bill and Susan. Susan you and Bill will always be two of the greats. My deepest condolences to you and your family. May he rest in peace.
I am so sorry for your loss. You and Bill were so much in love. God bless you.
I will forever miss my dad who died in August of 2000 and my mom who passed in April of 2023. It doesn't hurt it just aches! Grieving changes over time and you just get through it with the help of those around you who can relate to a loved one dying!!!! Susan will heal and get better day after day it just takes time to heal her heart! Praying for all who have loved and lost !!!
You're absolutely right. My mom died on February 13, 2007. About a month before we got a puppy. We named her daisy because it was her favorite flower. We lost daisy on February 13, 2021. It was a very rough day.
Thank you Michael. You conveyed the love we share for Susan and the rest of her family towards her and Bill.
MY heart goes out to Susan Hayes, family, and friends.
What an amazing couple they were. Bill may be gone but never forgotten. Cherish the memories always. I love you both!❤❤
May God give you the strength to carry on. 🙏🙏
Bill/ Doug will be missed.
What a touching interview, Michael. I grew up watching their love story on Days with my mom. She’s so beautiful, and a class act and I loved this interview. ❤
Love you Susan, we never forget D&J never will! Your love story is an inspiration to everyone.
Thanks for doing this, Michael! Love to Susan on her birthday! Miss Bill so much!!! ❤️

Happy birthday 🎂🎂 susan
Truly a great interview of a beautiful soul. I can’t imagine her loneliness without her soulmate but so glad they had so many years together.
Happy birthday Susan and may God bless you with many blessings today and always. Bill will be missed more than ever. You are awesome, sending love and prayers to you and your family,❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻💙
Another great interview with this super great woman and actress.
Thank you, Michael, for this beautiful interview with Susan. When she broke down the details of her rewriting the last scene of her and Bill Hayes, I had to cry. It was so beautiful the way she described it and Bill's last moments on this Earth. Everything she said was so moving. And it even took me back to when I saw my mother die in hospice 12 years ago.
Kudos for Susan to persevere through this -- as PT Barnum would say "The show must go on.". And it has for Susan.
I am glad that Ken Corday gave her carte blanche to rewrite that scene and to make it their tribute to their long lasting love both on screen and off.
My condolences and continued prayers to Susan, her family, and to the Days Of Our Lives family during this time.
I know that Bill's funeral, which will be a huge part of the 15000th episode that will kick off the 60th anniversary year of the show, will be a VERY lasting tribute to Bill/Doug and what he meant to the show and us.
Thanks again, Michael, for this beautiful interview.
Wonderful interview with Susan Michael
Thank you michael for this very special interview 😢😢 My thoughts and prayers 🙏 to Susan time will lessen your aching heart❤, although you will always hurt, but you will get use to your aching broken heart💯💯 💔
💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
We love you Susan - and we love Bill.
I watch days of our lives since 1968 until now 2024 I am going to watch as long as I live in love the show
Susan looks beautiful and so vibrant to be 81.🙂
RIP to Bill.💙
Happy Birthday Susan! We love you!
Ok... I am bawling 💔 My mother started watching this show from the very beginning.... if I remember correctly, she said it began as a 15 minute show... regardless, I actually remember watching this show with her and I am 65 years old! I remember when Doug began - as quite the scoundrel - and I remember loving him with Addie and crying when she died - but I also remember loving the original SuperCouple of Doug and Julie.... I loved when Hope was a little girl and Doug and Robert would sing to her.... and I remember - and loved - Doug's Place ❤ We were so blessed to have had this honest and truly amazing love story of Susan and Bill Hayes - and to have had Doug and Julie's great love story for all these many decades! Bill had a very blessed and long life and I will be forever grateful to my mother - who is no longer with me - for getting me hooked on this beloved Soap! As long as it is on - I will be a loyal viewer - but I deeply wish these writers would bring back the family that it was always based on: The Hortons! We need Abigail to be alive, we need Jack and Jennifer to return and run The Spectator, and we need Lucas to be a permanent fixture in Salem! I want to see the core characters being front and center again! I hope Susan/Julie and Suzanne/Maggie stay with us for years to come! May God continue to bless Susan with health and strength so she can make it thru this very very difficult time ❤ I am also thrilled that Bill's final airing was on her birthday and that the PTB allowed her to do their last scenes together in the way she wanted them to be - which makes them all the more special ❤ God Bless you Susan Seaforth Hayes ❤❤❤ and thank you, Michael, for a beautiful "moment" with this lovely lovely woman we all love so much 💔
Actually, it started as a 30 minute show, not 15 minutes. So check your facts straight before you post them online. You might learn something.
How rude.😡
Susan, Bill lives in you and all those he touched. I've been watching you and Bill since 1981. Sending my love from Belize City and New York ❤❤

I love her and Bill so much. I’ve been watching them 54 years. She is so vulnerable here and shared so much. Made me cry just like that beautiful last scene. Thank you. Susan.
I watched yesterday's episode, and it was a beautiful scene between Julie and Doug aka Susan and Bill Hayes. Susan is an amazing actress and Bill was also a fantastic actor. Bill will be missed so much! Thank you, Michael, for this emotional but beautiful interview. And thank you Susan for sharing your love and life with Bill. In our hearts forever.
A true love story. Thank you for this incredible interview.
Susan you have me in tears.❤❤
Thank you for a beautiful interview ❤ to Susan Seaforth Hayes
Happy birthday Susan
Happy Magnificent HER Day/Month/Year🎉❤
Bill Hayes was the body and soul of Doug Williams. He and his wife Susan Seaforth-Hayes shared their final episode and final scene on Days of Our Lives for the last time as Doug and Julie Williams on Days. Rest in peace Billy. Doug's funeral will come soon and the return of Doug and Julie Williams's beloved daughter Hope Williams-Brady minus Bo Brady who's still in a coma and many more other members of the Horton family.
She is so beautiful, especially because she’s 81!
Beautiful tribute from the eloquent Mrs. Hayes.
Thank you Michael, what a heartwarming and heartbreaking interview 💔 Love you Susan and Bill❤️💖
Yes, I too would skip school sometimes to watch the show! We had a TV in the library and everyday i'd cut thru to watch for a few minutes on my way to the restroom! Lol! Hooked since I was 11, 62 now!
Whenever I see Susan, I wish that she was my mother. She seems so warm and loving.
I just wanted to give her a huge hug

A beautiful love story❤😢
I first saw Days when the Salem Stalker storyline was at the point where it was revealed Marlena was the Salem Stalker (even though nobody was actually dead). But I remember Doug singing Always by Frank Santra.
Michael, also my North Star is my late mother.
And for Susan, Happy Birthday!
Susan keep strong
By the way, great interview!❤
Rest With The Angels
Bless her. Clearly missing Bill, but carrying on nonetheless ❤😢
Oh Susan
❤
Yes it was true… my Godmother waited until my
Uncle left to pass away
Beautiful, classy woman. ❤️❤️
Michael could you give me a address I can send Susan to tell her how much we loved Billy and her
Except for the shameless and cringeworthy plug for “Yellowstone” on Peacock, it was a beautiful final episode between Julie and Doug. ❤️❤️😔😔
