In a celestial treat that has stargazers buzzing with anticipation around the globe, a rare and captivating cosmic event is set to grace the night sky tonight the 31st of August when we will see a dazzling Super Blue Moon.
The term 'blue moon' might evoke images of a moon with an oceanic hue, but in fact, it refers to the second full moon appearing within a single calendar month. Such an event is a rarity, leading to the widely used saying "once in a blue moon."
I recorded this song in tribute to this event. Blue Moon" is a popular song written by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart in 1934, that has now become a standard ballad.
Early recordings included those by Connie Boswell and by Al Bowly in 1935.
The song was a hit twice in 1949, with successful recordings in the U.S. by
Billy Eckstine and Mel Tormé, and since then, over the years, it has been covered by hundreds of artistes in various genres.
