    This is gonna be one of the BEST Heavy Metal shows ever to be produced, and its rightful host definitely knows what he’s talking about because he’s literally playing in a real life Metal band, even kicking it off by shredding to “Crystal Mountain” by DEATH really makes it more EPIC ☠️ 💀 ⛰ 🏔 🎸 🤘 ☝️

    Really enjoyed the pilot. As someone who has always been a little overwhelmed with all the gear, an episode about what you view as some essential first purchases in terms of pedals, amps, etc would be cool.

    I like this idea but like some of the others have said it may not bring in the viewership. Now if Dekay would like to put something like this out on his own.... I would watch it

    I love this one and all the other pilots. I'm a guitar player too and been playing in local Rock/Metal bands in my town for many years. Thanks to guitar and instrument magazines I found my hobbies in life: music production and equipment.

    For local dive bar gigging where "turn me up in the monitor" is not always an option, one trick I found useful was to have a stereo power amp, each side going to it's own cab (stacked 1x12's in my case). The soundman has one cab miced of course, you get the volume set on that side with him and don't touch it. The other non-miced side can essentially be your own personal monitor. Point it right at your head, adjust volume as needed (within reason, without overpowering anything of course)

    I want to learn about Billy Sheehan's bass rig, if you're going to have guests. His sound is crazy clean and still beefy. That's really hard to do.
    I'm sure his impeccable technique is part of it, but I'm sure he's also got some fun tricks up his sleeve.

    I use theM XR/CAE MC401 (18V) as a clean boost into the crunch channel of my Peavey JSX for my rhythm tone and the MXR M77 Custom Badass Modified O.D. as a boost into the Ultra channel of my JSX as my lead tone, all controlled by a Boss MS-3 so channels, boosts, and delays are selected with one tap. The MXR pedals are excellent. Always use an angled plug into a guitar output jack unless it is a Strat type recessed jack

    Great video! I love how you have stickers on your pedals and amps for frequently used/most used settings. That's such a good idea! Also, I've been trying to find a good octave pedal and I have an awesome one in my Digitech Whammy, but it doesnt play well with my other pedals/pedal board, so I'm trying to find one as good as it. I've got a Gojira Effects Octave Generator and I don't love it. My question is, does the TC Electronics Sub N Up Mini Octaver sound as good as their regular one? Awesome video!

    so do you not use a boost pedal for your rhythm sound? sounds really crunch like you do, but seems like you do it only for solos?

    • @daniel_dekay
      @daniel_dekay 4 роки тому +1

      honestly man if i've got a 6505 it needs no boost for rhythms. when im using 800's i'm always running extra boost in front for rhythm.

  • @JonBrogaard

    Cool series. Will look forward to see where this goes. Could be awesome with a Criss Oliva (Savatage) Rig run down. Though he passed in 93 his tone is IMO still the grestest heavy metal lead tone of all time. I am sure Savatage members like Chris Caffery and Jon Oliva, and of course former guitar techs have some good inputs on how his rig was during the heydays in the late 80's.

  • @XlouietheflyX

    With my Schecters that have recessed Floyds I can just put a heavy drink coaster under the fine tuners (between the fine tuners and the top) and then I can take off all of the strings without the bridge pulling down. On the Ibanez Edge style trems it is more difficult but I actually have one of those plastic tools for removing interior trims in the car that you can jam in there and then take the strings off. Useful if you want to clean frets or whatever.

    I'll be honest, I was expecting this to be a lot more "Hi I'm Daniel Dekay. Watch me shred and talk about my stuff and what I've done, yay me!" but it's actually been kinda interesting and I can see how this could progress and improve by looking at other players, talking to other musicians, maybe getting into other gear or techniques (I think A-Bing stuff would help a lot there. So something then the same thing with the pedal he's on about, for instance) but yeah, pleasantly surprised and I apologise for making an assumption straight away

    owwww, that was a really tough decision.
    I guess what would make this series even more epic...
    would be if Dekay gets also other Artists on board, from different genres.
    Giving smaller bands also the oportunity to introduce themself.
    speaking with them about their biggest failures or favorite piece of equipment
    i dont know, what do you guys think?

  • @Litoff90
    @Litoff90 4 роки тому +1

    I'm not saying this pilot is bad, not at all, Daniel is a killer guitar player, and a great dude, but with all due respect to him if I wanted to see a guitar player test guitars, and pedals and tell touring stories I either: a) would take Mr. Dekay out for a couple of beers, or b) would see that kind of content on the gazillion other guitar-led YT channels (like Ola Englund's channel). I also want to point out that Banger's story began with "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey", with an anthropological point of view on metal, followed by "Global Metal". That being said, I'd think that "Fabric of Metal" is the one pilot kinda closest to that original idea.

    This was my second favorite pilot, but I feel like it is a hard sell for non musicians. Love Decay though, I think Sam Dunn himself would even have a hard time drawing viewers in, based on the limited audience who would revel in gear talk.

    fold up your cardboard string pack and jam it between the floyd and body. keeps the bridge under tension. if you stick to the same gauge and brand of strings it will be quick and easy and you can take them all off at once. Easier for cleaning/treating fretboard

    I feel like this could be a great show especially if they really get guests on from all over the metal scene to talk about their rigs and stories from the road! I do have the feeling though that Dan could kinda make this show on their own if it doesn’t win. Like the banger audience that is interested is already interested and then doing a guitar channel on UA-cam isn’t an unpopular idea so why not do it anyways?

    • @GriefHammer
      @GriefHammer 4 роки тому

      I feel like of all the series ideas, this is one that would be the easiest to produce, long term. Even if it's not the top voted, I agree, just do this one as well. Whether he meant to or not, there was a lot of product placement for the pieces of gear, which if repeated in each episode, could surely fund the making of this series.
