  • The Trail 429 is an all-new short travel trail bike from Pivot Cycles, with 120mm rear travel, a 130-140mm travel fork, and the option to run 29in or 27.5+ wheels.
Wil went out to Moab in Utah to test out the new bike on the rocky singletrack of Mag 7 and Portal, and you check out the full tech feature here: singletrackwor...

Ridiculously rad bike. I got mine about a month ago, and I can climb stuff with ease that seemed almost impossible before.

Nice review. How much does it weigh? It seems like most bike manufactures don't include the weight of the different build options. It's bike weight not important anymore?

Thanks for the kind words, and glad you liked the video!
Unfortunately there were no scales on hand while I was in Moab at the launch, so there was no opportunity to weigh the bike I rode.
If it helps though, the weight for a medium-sized Trail 429 frame is 2.9kg with shock.
Generally most brands won't publish a complete bike weight, since there tends to be too much variation between frame sizes, and there's also variance in the components that come on the bike. As an example, some tyres can vary +/- 10% of their claimed weight, which could add a couple of hundred grams to the overall weight. I guess the last thing a bike brand would want to do is for a customer to buy a bike based on a claimed weight, only to find out it's actually heavier than what it was listed at.
      Hope that helps explain!

I test rode a size small being their bottom of the barrel spec offering. Sunringle wheelset, slx/xt components you get the pic.... it weighed a tad bit over 30lbs. we do need to keep in mind the bikes are built to withstand rough riding from light 140lbs riders to 200 lbs plus burly bruisers : )
