To do this you will need to add a Device Handler to smartthings

*Update* after a few months the freezer sensor stops working & loses connection, but If i leave it in the warm for a few days then delete from Samsung online, then re add it works again it comes back to life. - Наука та технологія
I was about to return this when I found the video. Works perfectly with the device handler!
You sir are a GD hero. Thank you!
Awesome video…. I followed your instructions and they worked perfectly…. Only one small comment… in smartthings … the tile shows humidity %… but I’m more interested in the temperature…. Can this be changed?
I added\published the device handler. However, the nearby scan does not find it and I don't find that device type in the list.
If too far or problems with not working or dying quickly. Try yolink. Different frequency. Goes really far. Only one that really works for me. The freezer alert. Ended up with other yolink devices like outdoor motion sensors for same reason.
Doesn't the freezer kill these sensors after a certain amount of time? I'm looking for something that can alert me if my freezer goes off.
Is there a way to get the smartthings tile to default to temp rather than humidity?
Not that I can find, I would prefer temperature aswell.
@@hometechUK I figured out a way from some smartthings forums. Change the type to a smart sense temp humidity sensor. The tile now defaults as temp. I'm really shocked at the power from that little sensor. The freezer is in my attic and the hub is in my basement with very few jumpoints in between and it still picks it up great.
Cheers, I will have a look at that aswell.
how close does my freezer need to be to the smartthings hub ? it seems amazing to me that this device will read thru the freezer ....
My Smartthings hub is 2 rooms away through 2 solid brick walls then just over 8 meters away
For how long have you used this sensors with low temperatures like -14? As my Aqara sensor dies after 4-5 days outside with only -3-5 celsius
Still working in my freezer after 5 months. Has water got into yours?
Are you able to change the sensor from Celsius to Fahrenheit?
I believe Celsius & Fahrenheit is automatically set by your location.
Does this device handler code allow you to use this sensor without having to get the hub and still be able to remotely view temp when your phone isnt in range of the sensor?
No you would still need a Samsung hub to use this.
@@hometechUK I think the samsung hubs have been discontinued? Is there another you'd recommend if so?
Try as I might, I can’t get the app to detect the sensor.
I cannot get the app to detect sensor as well. Any recommendations?
Awesome. Does this still work today
The one placed in the freezer goes off line every month so I have to defrost & reconnect the one in the fridge does the same every couple of months,.
I've never been able to get these to work with Smartthings. I created and added a device handler and sometimes it will add the device but it never gets readings. I've tried 3 of them.
can i handle -20celcius?
It can but seems to loose connection after a couple of months then you have to re synchronization again.
not suitable for this job, always false battery readings ,freezer temps kills sensor at 3-4 months. Its not a sensor you can trust for freezers. They r ok for fridges at 4 to 0 degrees
Any suggestions brand suitable for freezer?
Yolink work for freezers
I set one of these up for my Freezer, running at -22 degC. The battery was dead in 6 weeks. I replaced with a BR2032 (extended temperature range) but the device won't come up. I phone Aqara support and they say it has probably suffered from frost damage. The tech said they had issues with some of these being used outside when the temperature as at -5 degC or below. Recommendation for a freezer is to use a remote probe. These Aqara units are not suitable for a Freezer.
