    That's not a coop, that's a 2 person bedsit in London - £300 a week.

    Nice ideas! I just finished building our coop last week. Took nearly 3 months to get it done. For the flooring I used a slightly different idea. An old plastic bed liner for a pickup truck bed. It even cost me $0 to add it to the coop. I cut it down the middle and cut it to length. The two pieces are overlapped so nothing is getting on the cherry hardwood floor. Clean up with be just as easy, push the bulk of the manure out into a wheelbarrow. The bed liner can then be picked up and thoroughly cleaned if desired. It was free and super quick to add it to the coop.

      Thank you Ken! That is a great idea for the floor, it would be super easy to just pick up and power wash, I might use that over this flooring! Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed

    So watching this video in your fenced in garden area. I think I see a small green house. I have one I need to put up but unsure how the heck to secure it. Where I live in Kansas winds can gust pretty high. Can you maybe go over it.

    Great ideas but I would do the mesh covers for the rain guard so no leaves will clog up things.

    • @AcresOfAdventure
      @AcresOfAdventure  2 роки тому +1

      Yes I forgot to put it but I do have mesh on the start of the PVC pipe to make sure it doesn’t clog

    Got all three of them and I agree with you 100%. And yes, my light is motion sensitive. Another benefit of that is it alerts me in the house that if I see the light on I've got visitors. I actually have my water collection system hooked up to PVC pipe that runs into the run where I have chicken waterers attached so as long as there's water in my rain barrel, the chickens have water in their run. Just found your channel. New subscriber

      I’ve seen the PVC waterer idea that’s awesome that you have that setup! We appreciate you subscribing and I hope that you will enjoy more of our videos thank you!

    Ooooh. I like this. I converted a milk house to a coop. Not enough light so solar would be great. Only outside water is at house right now several hundred yards across the farm. I like the water system. I made some rainwater barrels several years ago and gave them away when I lost my house. Time to make a few more.

    I'm building my coop soon would you suggest diatomaceous earth under the flooring?

      I would maybe shy away, I have heard that chickens respiratory systems have a hard time with DE. Maybe try something like First Saturday Lime?

    We did vinyl self stick squares in ours. Cheap and yep. Easier to clean.

    looks like your coop needs more ventilation

    • @AcresOfAdventure
      @AcresOfAdventure  2 роки тому

      I agree, we will be adding a bigger window and I’m adding some cloth on the big door. During the day we leave both doors open for them so they have ventilation throughout the day. Thanks for watching Cheryl!

    Ventilation is even more important in the cold snowy months when your flock spends more time inside

    1. Get your fingers out of my face.
    2. What about the bottom 12" of water in the barrel?

  • @nancyseery2213
    @nancyseery2213 2 роки тому +2

    You have some good ideas, but try not to shake your finger at the camera while talking, it's very negative for the people watching. Most people put down a plastic tarp and just pick up the whole thing and dump it in the compost pile or wheelbarrow to move it where you want it. Enjoy your day and I'm usually not negative about thinks, but shaking your finger at someone is just like a parent correcting a child. Keep learning and keep growing

      Thank you Nancy! I will try not to do that, I didn’t even notice that I just talk with my hands on video a lot, didn’t mean it bad! Glad you watched the video and hopefully you stick around for more! Thanks again!

      Wow. I’m sorry but this is a totally ridiculous comment. No one in their right mind would take any of his hand gestures as negative. 🤦‍♀️.
