I know the meaning of this song is to portray the night as a living entity but when I listen to this I think its about a guy who is fighting the darkness but can't and by the end he says give into the night which could be suicide

I remember reading in a metal magazine back in 2009 or 2010 when this song was hot on the radio that it was about life from behind the eyes of a dog with an abusive owner n it’s him escaping and running away, I mean the lyrics do kinda tell that story. I wish I could remember that dam magazine, coulda been metal edge, maybe guitar world, maybe hit parader but I don’t think it was that one, that usually just had photos n posters.
