That’s cool man, Just out of interest, does the wrestling ever include submissions? Or is there something else like Glima wrestling where you use pain compliance to get people to move where you want them to?
Just watching them guys crack each other with full force before they wrestle lets you know they’re serious--mma would have a huge problem if these guys looked over at the UFC, they’d need to adapt a little but as a base Senegalese wrestling could take someone right to the top; they’re amazing fighters and the fact it’s second only to football in Senegal as a national sport lets you know how much strength in depth there is over there,
They say a lot of modern-day wrestling in Europe in in America has been influenced through the Atlantic slave trade buy a lot of western African wrestling techniques they say some of the ankle picking techniques come from the Igbo tribe in West Africa and I imagine a lot of the techniques might come from Senegal as well. Especially like port cities like Charleston Liverpool Blackpool Savannah. They say European Sailors would oftentimes fight African enslaved people for competition, and they will also fight African Sailors that would join the European navies. So that's how they adopted a lot of these African martial arts.
I'm 1/2 Hispanic ans 1/2 White have 85% European DNA. My mom is Scandinavian Scottish English and my dad looks like Che Guevara. Interesting fact about American Hispanics is most if us have small amounts of Black African DNA my ancestry from my dad's side has everything from Spanish and Native to Sicilian and... Senegalese. I'm 2% Senegalese and I'm a tall ginger White guy lol. Rueg Rueg used his style effectively to beat Malaykin recently and I thought it was cool.
@@InvisibleHotdog Did you read my reply? I SAID some Muslims go to watch the fights. First off, it is important to know what Islam is and is not! if one does not know, they need to ask someone. There is far too much about Islam to talk from supposition.
I’m from Senegal when I was kid these were the best warriors on the planet we practiced lamb since age of 4

Rueg Rueg new ONE Heavyweight is a product of this martial art. Great content 💪
Great video as always. Do you plan on doing Videos on Dambe or Moraingy? Would enjoy hearing your thoughts on them.
What are your views on KUDO martial art
I actually took a seminar in it in 2018! I like it as a martial art. A shame it never really caught on like I thought it would. Big in Russia though.
Will it be good enough to transition to MMA, as I want to enrol my kid into martial art class
Thanks
@@sumitparashar8743 YES, I prefer Kudo OVER cage MMA myself.
Interesting. Thanks for posting. I’ve never heard of this style before.
Thank you for sharing this knowledge on Laamb, bruh. Do you have any thoughts on the Nuba wrestling of Sudan?
@MrSFBlack: I am not familiar with Nuba, but I am sure I would approve of it.

A big sport. Very energetic. Are the wrestlers well compensated and are the gyms supported?
From what I understand, the best of them make upwards of 100,000 US for a match! Amazing!

bit off topic but have you seen Dakota Ditcheva
I have not, will look at her very soon :)
Salamu alaikum, very informative.
I’m big fan of Senegalese wrestling
👍
Awesome culture. Powerful Muslim warriors.
@philosopher8052: The fighters are NOT Muslim really. They are practicing a religion that is not Islam although some Muslims go to see the fights.
