I watched this movie at Berlinale.. it was one of the most beautiful movies I’ve seen in a very long time and moved me to tears. Everyone applauded it for several minutes after it ended.

I respect Tibetan culture (I mean it having had some friends while I was in Kathmandu and while in India). And Tibetan origin people are equally invited to be as happy as us, but saw some people in the comments saying there is no need for Nepalese people to be proud of this Movie as they deem it to be about Tibetan Culture. I would like to tell them that you really need to explore more of Nepal. We are as diverse as it gets and to be honestly speaking, we are an amalgamation of Tibetan along with Aryan and to some extent, South East Asian kind of culture. That is truly what makes Nepal as Nepal of Today. I belong to a region that was once under the Kumaoni reign. Though we are Khas like most other Nepalese beings, we do have our own culture very different to that of Eastern Nepal. But, that does not mean that any feature coming through our region of Far Western Nepal, belongs to only us. Similarly in this case, the entire feature is shot in a Nepalese village, by a Nepalese director, had some Tibetan origin cast members from Nepal and India. And here we are fighting about the Origins of the movie. Whatever origin it might be from, if it makes someone feel proud after watching it, then let them be. Lets share the movie to the rest of the world.

You only mention the film director's name! You could have given a bit of credit to the place Dolpa and it's people! This isn't the first time that a film shot in Dolpa went onto global stages... There was a movie called Himalayan shot in Dolpa and featuring some Dopas went onto OSCAR award nominations...

Everytime Nepal accomplishes something , Indian crybabies have to interfere themselves in one way or another . Isn't it such an ugly fate for the director Min Bahadur who has been giving his soul and heart to mark Nepalese film in world map ? Rember , Indian or Tibetans here before claiming or discarding sth that it isn't his first ever on international film festival . His previous one " Kalo Pothi " that was purely based on Nepalese ethnicity had also won an award for best critics in Venice Film Festival. India should be proud too! All lead actors Sonam Topden, Tenzin Dalha, and Loten Namling were born and brought up in Tibetan refugee settlements in India. Glad they lent their talents in sharing this beautiful story of Dolpo (in present day Nepal) which shares cultural and religious ties with Tibet.

Whoever the actors are and whatever their ethnicity is , remember this isn't a Tibetan movie , the director himself is Nepali and even though actors may have been born somewhere else they majory grew up in Nepal . Nepal is densely composed of Tibetan Nepalese and that doesn't make them Tibetans instead of Nepali .🙄 It is true that it reflects Tibetan ethnicity but that doesn't make it a Tibetan film , it is proudly and officially a Nepali Film as many Tibetans reside since ages in Nepal and the movie was shot totally in mesmerizing landscapes of Nepal . It has more Tibetan influence than Nepali. I am sure this is new learning experience for the Nepali people themselves because it is all based on on Tibetan traditions and culture. The film was shoot in Nepal mountains where Tibetan ethnic settled.

I am a stunch supporter of Tibet from Darjeeling belongs to Bhutia community. But man this time sorry. It's a Nepal movie and yes of course we share the same culture, language in simpler terms ethnically we are same but Nationality is different. It's the story of Nepal, produced by Nepal and cast are Nepali and some are tibetan. So it's not Tibetan mate. Nepali film? The actors and the culture has nothing to do with nepali culture. Almost all actors are pure Tibetans with tibetan culture. WION seems to white wash the Tibetans like the Chinese do.
