Aside from Purdy being: faster in his 10 yard split and the 40, FAR more accurate, faster ball velocity, able to read and process defenses in milli-seconds, able to improvise on the fly, better command of the offense from DAY ONE, stone cold under pressure, and having a killer instinct that Trey never had, I CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Trey Lance has barely played when thats exactly what he needed, Zach wilson got 3 years to see if he could succeed. Trey got 4 games...Trey could've been really good, we don't know...maybe he still can be, but it's going to be difficult if he never sees the field..

He’s a project anyways. Every qb doesn’t need to get game experience right away. I think him not dealing with pressure of trying to bring a franchise a championship right now and him sitting behind an experienced qb and being able to take his time learning plays and working on his mechanics is the perfect scenario for him. The game experience will eventually come but just starting out with getting the basics down first before he hits game action can make a difference eventually

I was upset when the Niners moved up to take Lance. He didn’t throw the ball a lot in college and when he did, he was throwing against Missouri Valley teams. He had bad mechanics and was a “project”. You take guys like that in the later rounds. You don’t give up multiple firsts to move up a few spots for them. Can you imagine what this defense would be if they stood pat and drafted Micah Parsons?
It could have been worse. They could have ended up with Wilson

Or had all of those picks for OL? I'll say it again: Brock Purdy is THE ONLY REASON that Lynch and Shanahan will be employed by the 49ers in 2024! This was akin to hocking your wife's wedding ring and cashing out your 401k to go to Vegas and bet it all on your first roll of the dice, and crapped out. On the way home you stop off at a convenience store with no clue what to do, and on a whim with your last $2, buy a Powerball ticket that hits for $800 million!

@@spunn_co People are so hung up on trends. When has a "running" Black QB won a SB? I can't think of any. Mahomes was a QB that can run and not that well at that. Just well enough to gain 10-15 yards. WIlson was the a QB that can run as well. He did most his damage passing the ball. The last time one even made it to the SB was Cam Newton in Carolina and they got trounced by the Broncos while Newton passed for 265 yards and an INT. Oh, but he rushed for 46 yards, which led the team. Big deal. Lamar is slowly evolving into a passer. He's at that moment of his career where he can still run, which makes him dangerous. It's simple what went wrong. They drafted a kid that played one season for football between his last year in high school and his first day in the NFL and expected him to be ready to play in the NFL after just one year as a backup. For Trey Lance to have been a success was to realize he would be a 2-3 year project (like Aaron Rodgers or Jordan Love). However, when you draft a kid 3rd overall and give up a ton of draft picks to get him no one wants to be patient and develop the player....no they want to see him on the field right away no matter what. What went wrong is it was clear from day one that the great Kyle Shanahan had no plan for how to develop Trey Lance and how long that would take. That, plus the unfortunate ankle injury doomed Trey's career; now he'll backup Dak Prescott for a couple of seasons and hopefully then he'll be ready to start...we'll see.

  • @Redpoppy80

I think the career of Lance will be looked at later as being a victim of a long series of unfortunate events. He just missed all of the development time that ANY QB needs to gain the experience needed to be good at the NFL. The Niners were FOOLS for trading up for a project like this when they wanted to win now. Lance needed to go to a team that was still in the building phase but not terrible either. Such a shame for Lance.

Receivers and tight ends have the luxury to be silly and joking around all the time but if the leader of your team can't settle them down and give the play and snap count then you have issues false starts, delay of game, illegal shift penalties or guys running the wrong play leads to turnovers. And Lance’s next mistake was going to the Cowboys. The Niners were trying to shop him but they were asking him for input on where he might go. Because of the magnitude of the trade up for Trey Lance (resulting in Miami upgrading with great players; and, lost opportunities of better draft picks for the 49ers), bust is applicable here. Even if Trey Lance were not injured, Kyle and Lynch saw in practice and in sparse games that Trey played in ... that their 3rd round pick was just hype and not the real deal (like Patrick 'mobile' Mahomes with accurate velocity throws). This costly draft mistake is a forgetful memory now, with a lucky draft of the last pick of the NFL draft: Brock Purdy - no initial hype but now an MVP candidate.
