6 FURNITURE REFINISHING CHANNELS you HAVE to watch RIGHT NOW!

- People ask me alllll the time where/how I learned to do what I do. The short answer is a few paid (and not cheap) online courses that are sadly no longer available, and THOUSANDS of hours of UA-cam videos! I would watch full playlists on the laptop while working on pieces and I've learned the majority of my skills and tricks from other UA-camrs! I thought this would be a fun way to give back and say "THANK YOU" to these awesome content creators and masters of furniture refinishing and restoration.
What I love about UA-cam is that even though there are hundreds and hundreds of furniture flipping and restoration channels out there, EACH ONE is unique, has a different style of filming and flow and narration (and some WITHOUT narration)... and we all bring something different to the table.
NEVER STOP LEARNING! ❤️
Channels mentioned in this video:
@JamiRayVintage
@LostMountainRestoration
@DashnerDesignRestoration
@johnsonrestoration
@ThatShabbyGuy
@salvagedbykscott
NOTE: I was able to obtain emailed permission to use actual clip footage in this video from all but one of the channels listed above. This video does not show actual footage from that channel, only content publicly available on their UA-cam channel homepage.

Christina Muscari is great to watch too!
I’m 100% UA-cam taught as well. Jami & Zeb are the ones who got me started too and have continued to be incredible friends. It’s been so exciting to see this furniture UA-cam family grow over the past few years. YOU are definitely my background music while I work now 😉😂 Thank you so much for sharing my channel. ❤️
Love the Katie-bunny!!🥰
Love your Chanel Katie! Keep doing content please. You’re amazing also
Yooo! Look at me on UA-cam while being on UA-cam! 😂 I'm honored to have helped you out on your journey. You're flying! Keep it up!
Hahaha! 😂 Thank you again for allowing me to do this- I love your work! ❤️
Thank you so much for the mention. Keep up the great videos.
Thank YOU! 🙌
I love your videos
I discovered your channel last month and I’ve watched every single one of your videos, some of them more than once. You’re a fabulous teacher…humble, kind and full of knowledge. Making this recommendations video is just another example of your generosity, so thank you! All the best to you Angie from one Canuck to another! 😊🇨🇦
Check marking the box of watch all of the above. But what I really came here for was the bunnies! ❤
Hahahah the whole time I was watching it back while editing, I was looking at the bunnies instead of my face hahaha
@@TranscendFurnitureGallery 🤣 😂 🤣
Reconstructing emily...I just binged on a few of your videos. You do great work too.
You are spot on with all of these channels. Amazing people and amazing content! Congrats on all of your success. Your work is incredible and it is obvious you have a passion for teaching others. One day if I ever make a video like this, I will be reaching out to you to ask permission to mention your channel. Barry
Thank you Barry- you’re a force on here as well! I’m loving it!
I came here to add Barry from Mad City Modern is another one of my favorites!
So do I 😁😁
Thomas Johnson is the best! I like the way he is working on those pieces the most!
You are my favorite person to watch! I also watch K Scott, Dashner, AT restoration, Glenda Chavez, DIY wife and John’s furniture restoration ( my newest fav).
AT Restoration his detail is crazy!
John’s Furniture Repair is a great restoration channel. DIY Wife is another favorite,
I love that you're no longer camera shy. 😀 It's wonderful to see the face behind the voice. 🙂
It still freaks me out and I need about a million takes, but I’m trying to get better with it, haha
Pretty Distressed with Christina Muscari is amazing! DIY Wife, Mad City Modern, and That Shabby Guy are also standouts and worth your time! 😀
Thank you, Angie, for sharing the influential people who have mentored you. Thank you again
You are so welcome!
I knew about Dasher and That Shabby Guy, but I look forward to binging on the others!! And props for acknowledging how much you've learned from others and supporting them, much respect for that!
Oh Angie, if only you knew just how much I've learnt from YOU! You are a true restoration inspiration!! Thank you for always sharing!!! 💛
I love Thomas Johnson. You are right he is an artist.
I learned watching The Furniture Guys. Two men from Philly that turn restoration into a comedy routine.
You and Katie are why I fell in love with mixed paint and stained pieces. Looking forward to discovering the rest of your suggestions.
OMG! That piece at the end! Thank you for all these channels.
I'm late on this but I agree with your suggestions. I already subscribe to three of them and enjoy them too. You asked for channels we would recommend. Mine would be John's Furniture Repair, which is created by another Canadian lady who named her channel after her Dad. She is Trena, and is a skilled renovator of antiques and cherished items, rather like Thomas Johnson, and learned her skills from her Dad. Her videos are so educational and interesting as well. She is a qualified teacher and it shows. 😊
I haven’t been following you that long but the first video I watched of yours, I immediately thought of Thomas Johnson because of your ability to repair and respect your pieces. You are so very good at what you do. Keep up the good work!!
I once made a half-ashtray in pottery class .. told my instructor it was for my half-ash friends 🤣😂😏 ..
she wasn't amused and gave me a stinky, smelly, half-ash grade 🤨
you have an eye for what works and what doesn't ..and we likey your style .. so keep on keep'n on
💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Haha!
I usually watch Dashner at night... He's like the ASMR of fantastic furniture restoration. Lost Mountain is a wealth of knowledge on wood color and repair. Yes, he does do cast iron and sewing machine restoration. Thomas Johnson is a master, and he can take a half destroyed beautiful antique and make it look new.
@Kacha is my favorite Upcycle UA-camr. She’s absolutely amazing!
Furniture Fables!! Andy’s such a fun story teller. Watching her videos is like watching a mini movie. :-) And YOU…I’ve learned SO much watching you!!!
I listen and watch lots of furniture videos... while I enjoy them all, you are my favorite! 🥰
@MayfieldRestorations is an amazing channel. David does impeccable work!
I've watched most of those you've listed, along with Four Forty Five. I especially enjoy yours for all I learn as well as that you don't paint everything.
I first started watching Thomas Johnson and Dashner also and most of the others but your furniture made me love mid century furniture which we had when i was a child. Love your videos
Kudos to you for plugging some competitors. 😀 There's at least one channel in there I didn't know about and will have to look into.
Give those bunnies a kiss and a cuddle for me. 😍
I watch you every night after supper with a good cup of tea.
Cheers! 🫖 ☕️
I just wanted you to know, thank you have become one of my favourite UA-camrs to watch. Thank you for being yourself, also, I love your bunnies!
Excellent Video Topic!! Thank you so much for sharing. Your channel is definately one of my favorites along with SALVAGED by K. Scott, The Furniture Flipping Teacher, DIY Wife, and the Furniture Flipping Newbie.
I follow all of those you mentioned except Lost Mountain. I now subscribe to Lost Mountain! Lol. Thanks for the tip Angie.
YOU would be in my top 5 list. You're very good. You've learned well and now you're teaching your viewers.
I'm a loyal fan. Keep up the great work.
I follow many of these people. Yes - Tom Johnson is absolutely THE BEST furniture repair and restoration person alive! And he IS SO nice. He responds to everyone and is so thoughtful. Here is another person to check out (and Canadian, as well) and that is John's Furniture Repair (actually a female, the business is named after her father). I hope you can catch her. She ALSO loves Tom Johnson, lol. So, I love what you do! Did I not start with that?? Well, let me end with it. I think you're awesome and you do GREAT work. Have fun with the 'buns.'
What a lovely way to shout out fellow miracle workers! Thank you for this. I was already subbed to all but one of these, but now I am subbed to all. Gratitude is key in remaining creative and loving in a way that then transforms other people into also being their best ❤️
I started with Jami Ray Vintage and then found others. I’m a big fan of Salvaged by K. Scott. One of my recent favorites is DIY Wife. She is so talented. She does furniture and home remodeling. Check her out, if you haven’t. She mostly paints her furniture and her staging is awesome.
I agree. That $20 coffee table was amazing after she finished it
I love her too! Her husband though…I find his antics annoying.
Thanks for your list. Yes, Dashner is so soothing and Katie is wonderful. Enjoying Mad City Modern, too. Touched on a few other channels but they have tended to be flippers and the quality just isn't there. Bunnies are the bonus content.
Yes, I forgot to mention MCM in my post. Barry is great.
Couldn't agree more about Katie's Channel. I was immediately gravitated towards her projects. I found her through you & am grateful for it. Hoping all is well Angie, Dirty Jersey out!!
You and Dashner are my favorite UA-camrs for furniture refinishing, both so informative and so much fun to watch! The time that Dashner replied in one of the videos was surreal to me, like one movie character showed up in another movie😄 Thanks for the recommendation, happy to find more good channels.
Angie, I'm addicted to your videos after just 2 days watching about 10 of them!! I love your video & teaching styles and your eye!
Your are absolutely correct. You can learn anything on UA-cam. Good job.
I have learned so much from you! Been redoing furniture longer than you’ve been alive but I still learn so much from your explanations and techniques! I love the variety of styles and colors that you incorporate and your videos never disappoint! Thanks, Angie! Love your wildlife pics too!
You're very welcome Kathy! I'm glad to help!
It’s crazy because today is the first day I’ve ever watched your channel, and I ended up here after binge watching quite a few. How crazy you posted this specific video 6 hours ago… I feel like that is a sign you are doing this UA-cam thing right and that you will continue to see much much growth if you keep it up! You are also doing it right by giving homage to your mentors/inspirations!! I love what I see. Subscribe!!!
Hi Lady of the Lake. I too have just found this furniture restoration channel. Isn't this lady and her work great. She is thorough, does not cut corners and is very fastidious about her work and l like that. Tonight l viewed someone elses and it was just terrible, can't remember who it was, but he just butchered a beautiful piece of art Deco.
I found your channel about a month ago and have been binge watching, every chance I get! I'm really like your style and love your attitude! Saving what you can is no easy task and love how you work through things that don't go as planned. When I first started watching, I was dead set against painting any furniture but, now, through your videos, I'm learning the whys and how to's of when it's right to paint. I'm also loving your bunny and cat interludes, big time. The passion you have come through in your videos and I wish more people had your insight and passion. Keep being you, Angie, it's beautiful and inspiring!
Thank you so very much Tom! You've definitely been busy binge watching, I'm really happy you're enjoying my content. 🙂
YOU are a great inspiration. I only recently found your channel and I love your work. I agree That Shabby Guy is great to watch. He makes some beautiful transformations out of items that should have been trashed.
Oh Angie, I watch dozen of videos every day from many channels, but you and Katie Scott are my “most” favorites. I’m always looking forward for your new videos. You’re a true inspiration for me, and thank you SO MUCH for sharing your knowledge. You’re an amazing artist! ❤❤❤ 9:43
Thank you so much! I'm in excellent company with Katie - I love her, she's so talented!
Hi Angie, love the bunny's keep showing them, I watch two third's of these great channels especially you & Thomas Johnson I will give those channels a good look see.😁👍
I think I follow all but one of the channels you mentioned. I also follow DIYWife, Desert DIY, and Furniture Flipping Teacher. Your channel is probably my favorite. Thanks for sharing your talents and awesomeness!
Thank you for this! We really appreciate your work and your videos - your channel is a fun and edifying part of our day.
I’ve been watching Thomas forever. I just love the way he works and his knowledge is boundless.
Then I found you and the way you rescue things is much more attainable than antique restoration! Off now to check out the others!
Thomas Johnson is my hero!!! I LOVE his channel. Been watching for years and I too have watched every video on his channel, many times. What a master!
He's amazing!!
I still think the bunnies are adorable!!!
You were obviously a great student Because the end result of all of your projects is simply stunning! If I lived anywhere near your area I would definitely purchase from you! God Bless!
I've been happily watching your video's as of late and going back in your catalogue. I feel ya so much. I have so many youtube university degrees myself! It's how I was able to turn my old park model trailer into a tiny house, rebuild cars, motorcycles, drop trees, rebuild my vintage camper van, and currently rebuild a total hoarded and rotten single wide mobile home. Once I get that done, I will be finally refurbing furniture. I've always just wanted to do woodworking but never had the space and now I will. Gonna check out the channels you've mentioned that I have not already seen. Thanks and cheers! Never stop learning!!!!!!
Thanks so much for watching and best of luck with your projects!
You are wonderful Angie. Thank you.
I discovered you first, then Dashner’s channel. I enjoy both, and will check out your other recommendations. Thanks for sharing sweetie.
I find watching your videos soothing (you have a wonderful voice) as well as educational. Thank you once more for sharing your experiences, and now for sharing those of others!
I just came across one of your videos and am in awe! I clicked on this one and would like to thank you for sharing all of this information. I collect Mid Century Modern furniture and treat it like family as I just love the design, beauty and grain of the wood. I’ve always paid full price for my pieces though as any form of restoration is completely intimidating to me. This video has inspired me to pick up some pieces that need TLC and bring them back to life (with UA-cam instruction of course). Thank you again from a new (fellow Canadian) subscriber! Love the bunnies!
I’ve learned so much from you and from all those you’ve mentioned. I appreciate everyone that is out there helping us
I found you last week and I love your stuff. I have done a couple few pieces in the past and I like building birdhouses too. You have ignited my interest again in furniture. Thanks again!
I am very picky in my subs to channels, as I found I became overwhelmed due to FOMO. So I only follow you Angie as a restoration channel. However, because of the algorithm and the lovely people here, I get a lot of great recommendations on the UA-cam homepage 😊
I love JRV, Shabby, FFT and Christina Muscari, etc,etc and Katie so many. Then I found you.......you're amazingly talented and have a great eye. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for sharing with us. I need to watch each video twice because I’m Italian and I need a second sight in order to understand what you are talking About. Congratulations, I looooove your pieces ❤️ your videos are an important inspiration for me. Big hugs from Italy
I have no idea why I thought your channel was years and years on youtube haha that tells the quality of your videos!!! You and your bunnies are adorable BTW 🥰🥰🥰
Of course I put my vote in for Dashner! I would also recommend a fellow Canadian, Scott, from Fixing Furniture. He doesn’t do restoration in the the same way as you or Dashner, but his tips on fixing joints and matching stains for touch ups are really great! He has a calm, methodical teaching style and it is nice to see another Canadian represented! 🇨🇦
Yes he’s fantastic!
Thank you for the extra suggestions. You do such beautiful work and I love seeing the bunnies!
Yep! Good one Angie. I watch most of tour choice. John Thompson Antique Furniture Repair, I agree with you, he is the Master.
Thank you for sharing these. I love that about you and your channel, its real and not caught up in ego. I went to college to study furniture but learned most of my stuff from You Tube (hours, months!). Loving your work 👸Glad you squeezed the bunnies in.
You, Christina Muscari, DIY Wife, Katie Scott and Busted to Buff are the very TOP of my list. I've learned so much from you; thank you so very much😊😘 I live in Melbourne and there's so much furniture that are no longer loved going around (on social)...or left on the curb. I've always wanted to rescue furniture and with your support (without you knowing it 😅😂) I'm going to follow my passion and do it!
I loved this video and KNEW we could be BFF's, as I've been subscribed to all these channels for years. I just adore Thomas Johnson and agree that he is a true master! I've learned so much from him on the old glues and ways of constructing pieces. I particularly enjoy watching him repair veneers and matching the grains and stains. I could go on and on about the others as well. I'll comment on your other post on some other channels I have discovered. Considering we are like minded, I'm sure they won't be new to you. I do have to say, that among alllll the youtubers I've watched through the years, your channel is by far one of my new favorites. I look forward to your videos each week. Keep them coming!
Wow. Angie, I actually learned alot from you. How, awesome for all of the you tubers to share and teach along the way. Thank you.
Just found you yesterday. Have been binge watching since! Love your channel and greatly admire your skills. You are a true restoration artist! You have a new huge fan…
Welcome to my channel Richard! I'm so glad you were able to find me and are enjoying my content. 😊
Angie, you are so generous!. Amazing list that benefits all those channels. I learn so much from you, and I love the way you explain the process. Congratulations!.
I love working with wood and furniture, I do my own , and now I want to do it and sell them. I'm so excited to get on it
I think I follow all of your pics, as well. I refer to Dashner as the Bob Ross of furniture. It’s his voice and inflection. So enjoy your channel, and the bunnies! I have kitties that “help” me…. Paw prints anyone? 😂
I just started out and I watch your videos while I'm working. Thank you for sharing! Your pieces are beautiful!
Hey Angie I only found your channel a couple of weeks ago and I have pretty much watched every video that you’ve put out. I think they are all wonderful. I am not a furniture restorer or painter (Im a landscape artist) but I can really appreciate your talent and artistry. I agree with everything you said about UA-cam being a great place to learn about anything. I’m sure producing videos is a great deal of work and I just wanted to say thank you and to make sure that you knew that those of us that are subscribed to your channel love what you’re doing, we have no criticisms of how loud the music is or what your lovely face looks like or how fuzzy or blurry the video is or isn’t …..we just love seeing what you’re doing! Paint on girl! 💕👍🏻👏🏻😃
Your channel has been my favorite to watch so far and I’ve seen every video as far as I can tell. You have a voice that is very easy to listen to, your restorations look spectacular, and I’ve even learned quite a bit! Keep making videos, please! And thanks for this video bc finding good content creators can be difficult bc there are SO MANY people doing this sort of work. Thanks Angie!
You're very welcome! Never fear, lots more content coming up in the future. Thanks so much for watching and so glad you're finding my content informative! 🙂
Angie, you're so terrific 💯👍 thank you!!!
Thank you. You have busy bunnies in the background, careful they’ll steal the show on you. I will look at some of these channels, but, I do like your approach to furniture remake, after all it sounds like you are already a compilation of all mentioned channels which makes you unique.
Thanks so much for sharing! You are one of MY favorites. You have a great voice for listening to…and I love your honesty. Your finished pieces are amazing!!
What an awesome video!! I love the Shabby Guy and Katie Scott is amazing!!! I love your work as well! Congratulations on your phenomenal growth and thank you for sharing your knowledge and talents with all of us.
You are incredible. Thank you so much for your hard work and sharing your passion.
Thank you for sharing! I have watched most of these you tubers but there are a few I hadn’t heard about yet! I love the way you do your videos! Bravo!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Great content! I am a UA-cam learner and wish more people would use it to learn!
I found Lost Mountain and Tom Johnson and Dashner during the pandemic. I found you shortly after. Thanks for the suggestions!
You're most welcome! I'm glad you were able to find me. 😊
i love Flipping Drawers and Mayfield Restorations as well as your channel!
Awesome! Thank you!
I started with Salvaged by K Scott and now follow numerous channels but like your two the best. I also love Furniture Flip channel. She is great at a lot of techniques from blending paints to transfers. I’m not much of a flipper, just here to see another piece of furniture saved from the landfill and made into something you’ll never find in a big box store. I’m now taking pictures of “curb finds” and posting on curb alert Facebook pages so they get saved!
I’m heading over to Katie’s and Jami’s channels. I’ve not heard of them… The rest, I watch religiously…. I only found your channel a few months ago and have watched them all….. I used to refinish for my personal use…. but, now physically cannot. But, I still love watching older pieces saved and getting a new lease on life….. They just do not make pieces like they used to…. Thank you for sharing….
Thanks for the list. I have been watching tons of hours of your stuff as well as several other people. I like Flipping Teacher, think I watched everything she had. Great story of a teacher who used flipping to pay off her student loans and then got enough business to quite and do flipping full time
Thank you for sharing Angie!!
Oh Angie, I started year ago because of YOUR channel 😄! You are an amazing teacher! Thank you for all your lessons.
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching and glad I inspired you!
I’ve learned so much from you and several of the channels you suggested. I find I watch very little tv these days and much prefer to watch UA-cam videos for all sorts of things but especially furniture restoration. Thanks so much for all that you do. You’re truly an inspiration to me and so many others!
Bunnies!! 😊
Thank you for shouting out others and giving us the info,I’ve watched some of them but will check out others (when I’ve finished binge watching you) congratulations on coming so far in a short time👍🏻
Yours is one of my favorite channels! Keep up the amazing work! 😁
(Johns Furniture Repair) is a great Channel, The lady on there does all her own woodwork repairs and very knowledgeable Lady.
You are so generous!!! It is awesome that you acknowledge the ones you learned from!!! I dabble I many trades…but love love love that this is YOUR craft!! I love how you share your knowledge and are humble, kind, and respectful to those you learned from! Keep up the awesome videos!!
