I knew this song as a kid, “ head shoulder knees and toes”. Ha ha ha I never knew that this is the original title. Lovely discovery. Nice wordsmith52. I wonder if you can if you can have the song “ black and white” also same tempo , same era, same style of musical arrangement and same generation. My father used to play it with his violin and I used to play it in piano.
So glad it brings back happy memories! Do you mean the "Black & White Rag"? If so, I uploaded that a few years back along with "Temptation Rag" and "Maple Leaf Rag". I'll send a link if you want. Thanks for looking in again!
THanks for responding wordsmith52. Some songs like the “black and white” ,( been tryin to look it up in U tube but not the correct one)“ peg o the ring”( I have the lyrics but no artist found). I have been trying to search them extensively, but to no avail. Songs like ( Ma, She is kissing me, have you ever been lonely, yes sir that’s my baby, mexicale rose , moonlight bay and the likes... they dominates my family musical environment in the 60’s. Here in the Philippine, our town, especially my family, is the center of this kind of music. My father plays violin , banjo, rondalla, and my uncle plays the guitar, bajo, and I accompany them in piano. It was so much fun...missing them .
Mrs. Mills lived in Loughton, Essex. My grandmother lived in Roding Road. Cannot remember, if Mrs. Mills lived in Roding Road, too,Grandmother took me to see her in her house. Christine Trueman, the tennis player, too!
Hi - thanks for commenting - a lot of famous people lived in that area - Kenny Ball and (currently) Alan Sugar! You are in "High society" it seems! Regards.
My father & mother were living with his mother & father, when expecting me, 70 yrs ago, february. No hospitals after the war near by, 1946, so I was born in Plaistow, East Ham. My father would drive to there, to see his mother, spend the day, sunday roast, with me, from Surrey. Growing up pre teen, I spent school holidays in Roding road, whilst mother & father lived in Dorking, Surrey, so I got to know Loughton pretty well! My brothers & sister, never went there.
Chris Sawyer great memories - what is now the east London wil lforever be Essex to me. It took a pasting in WW2 - including the V1s & V2s. Essex is a wonderful county - many unspolit and beautiuil villages and seaside places left all within 30 minutes - hour of London. Many happy childhood holiday memories for me...
