- This video shows gameplay with all 21 characters in Pokkén Tournament DX for Nintendo Switch. I played a full battle with each character. The character roster consists of Darkrai, Blaziken, Pikachu, Lucario, Gardevoir, Pikachu Libre, Scizor, Croagunk, Sceptile, Gengar, Decidueye, Machamp, Braixen, Empoleon, Mewtwo, Chandelure, Suicune, Weavile, Charizard, Garchomp and Shadow Mewtwo.
Out of all the spin offs i wish this gets a sequel.
They just need to add more pokemons thats all

Really wish they'd increased the roster a little more. Would have loved to see pokemon like tyranitar, gallade or electivire appear as playable characters. This roster is too small

The more realistic an animation is, whether in cartoons or video games, the longer it takes to complete it. This may be why there aren't many yet. I mean look at how much more realistic they are compared to the portable game graphics...

Wish this kind of "live battle" was in some other pokemon game or even spin off. It feels kinda nicer than the classic turn based fights.

You were expecting Legendaries and 1st evolution starters? This is a serious fighting game in the vein of Tekkén and SoulCalibur,so they chose serious Pokémon.

There are so many other pokemon that would feel like they'd make sense to be in this game because they're either more famous or more suited for elite battles. Half the roster of this game feels like they made it just because it was a dev's favorite Pokémon.

Now all they need to do is just make it open world and have the battle encounters this instead of the turn based system and you’ll have the next Pokémon blockbuster game.
There is a problem with increasing the roster. Character uniqueness. In pokken every character have a gimmick in someway that affects the way they play. They cannot add a lot of characters because of development time. Also they do not want to add a lot of Pokémon of the same type. About 3 or 4 for each. The reason why they did not add a lot of fighting is because it will make the game boring. Adding Hitmonchan would be boring because they would play similarly to Machamp with a bit of different moves. Also because of the amount of fighters it is so balanced. Any character is viable. L

Volting Master but tekken, mortal kombat, guilty gear and marvel vs capcom 3 all have more characters with better depth than pokken...
Maninflames3 all those games are over 7 games into their series(before MvC there was the Xmen vs SF games), fighting games NEVER start out that robust on their 1st entries.

Maybe the game might add more characters as dlc down the line but so far 21 (or less at the Wii u versions launch) seems rather small for what it is
This game has so much potential, imagine if you could choose from all the Pokémon from the Pokédex.. never ending fun, definitely has good vision
