    6:25 for the impressionist period you said late 1900's to early 20th Century? Did you mean 1990's to 1900's or late 19th Century to early 20th Century?

    Seems like you haven't made a video about modes (besides major and minor). You should make a video about it (I recommend looking at jazz and the Beatles for examples).

      Listen to good recordings by concert pianists of the piece for several days and visualize yourself playing the piece on a keyboard. Pretending that a table is a keyboard and practising on it can be effective as well.

    For the UK's main exam board (ABRSM) you actually do have to play a whole tone scale. For the very last exam, grade 8

    Hey there! First of all - I love your videos. All of them. I'm playing the piano for 13 years now and I just discovered your channel. My question is if you maybe could make a video about different types of pianos and their advantages and disadvantages? I'm considering to buy a silent piano but I have no clue if it's worth the investment and if there's a better option for students.
    Thank you so much, love you!!

    love this! I played the violin since I was little, but didn't really learn music theory. Now I'm picking up the instrument again and start to play some french music, which I'm very unfamiliar with. Your video really helps a lot by explaining the theory vividly but also very much in depth. >3

    Is there an easy solution to finding fingering when learning a new piece that isn't marked? In other words, using RH 5 on highest notes? What if it jumps up? Thanks! You have the best vids on UA-cam! :)

    I loved the explanation. Is the 1st Arabesque by Debussy using this same kind of scale mostly?

      Nope, almost entirely major scales, including some major pentatonics.

      It's one of his early works, just look up to Debussy's mature works it has a lot of whole tones.

    What shape of hands and fingers do you recommend??

    • @mr.mohagany8555
      @mr.mohagany8555 7 років тому

      Hand position is a common point of technique, I don't know why the previous person wrote that. Anyway, she said in another video to hold your hand like you're holding a ball (like a baseball or softball). Not exactly like holding a ball, but your fingers should be curved.
      My piano teacher told me to hold your hand like it's a spider where your fingers are the legs and the palm part of your hand is the body. Which is similar to the shape of holding a ball.

    Watching videos on the whole tones scale. As a guitar player I heard how amazing the whole tone scale sounds played behind the blues. Your focus in this video is music two hundred plus years old. How about stepping up to it least the 20th century. Just a thought on being able to reach cool people.
