Elena Mukhina was such an amazing gymnast. She was a most classical of all with so much grace. Her technique was perfect. It is horrible that she was driven too hard which caused her terrible accident.
Even though the Judges think they gave out too many 10's in Montreal (which was 2 years earlier, they couldn't spare another? ) Elena Mukhina deserved a 10! She was amazing in all of her events :D
What a fall Emilia took, she was so lucky she didn't get injured! So sad Yelena's fate! It's been a year since her death, but I think she's much better now in heaven than when she was alive. A memorial in her name should be instituted.
How could Nadia have won? Her mistake on bars was not little and her floor x was very weak and artistry lacking. Mukhina had much more difficulty and elegance in every event. Comaneci didn't even finish in the top three. She looked in poor form and unmotivated. She did improve in 1979 though and was in great shape again and deserved to win all those competitions she won that year. Personally, I think she was in better shape and performed better in 79 than in the 80 Olympics. I am sure she would have won the 1979 worlds if her wrist wasn't infected.

Elena was so nice to watch, smooth, classy and so focused. I feel so bad her career and her life came to an end so early.

MUKINA debió haber sacado un 10 en piso, barras asimétricas y barra de equilibrio, no cometió ningún error. Tenía mucho más dificultad en sus rutinas.

i know! most of their top gymnasts were Ukrainian, not Russian. there is a big difference and people don't seem to realize that.
