Hi Jen❤️ thank you for your videos. I listen you calling God so I assume you are religious, no shame at all but I was curious if the licensing process requires some kind of course around trauma in general and religious trauma. Are the children and family match based also on religious/belief compatibility or if I child is religious there’s some way they can keep up with their religious community?
All great questions! I cannot speak for other foster parents, but I am TBRI trained in trauma. I also have had tons of education on religious trauma. Most of the children we take are younger (5 & under) and their parents have a religious basis. We have taken a few older children & never force our beliefs. In addition, in the past, we've had bio parents not wanting their child to attend church, and we have respected that. Religious abuse is real & each child should have the freedom to choose what they believe.
Your videos are Inspiring Jen ! Is it true that taking alot of Respite children into one's home means a tremendous amount of extra Paper work ? Thankyou.
Great question! I am in Washington State and we do not need to do any extra paperwork to take a respite placement. In fact, those who do respite are often highly appreciated by the placement desk and may be more inclined to get selected sooner for other types of placements.
