I don't know about the other teams but thing about BYU is they play their offense outside in. That means the other teams have to orient their defense to stop the 3 point shot first. That means the teams they play cannot play their normal defense because college defenses spend their time practicing inside out defenses. If you only have a day to prepare for this you can be in trouble. In the past Syracuses matchup zone gave teams in the tournament trouble.
BYU is so dangerous because when they’re on from 3, they’re the #1 team in the country. It all depends on which version of BYU you have to face that night
@@JVPlayz96I don't like them as much as others because their defense is pretty atrocious. They're giving up almost 80 points a game and that's just not sustainable through a prolonged March Madness run. If they run into a Saint Mary's, Virginia, or a team like them, I think there's a very high chance they lose that game
@@thatkristiandude4048 I do agree that their defense needs to be better. They've given up 80+ points in 9 of their games (5-4 in those games) but they have put up 80+ in 18 of their games. They are currently 14-4 when scoring 80+ points so they have a really good chance of outscoring their opponent if they get into a high scoring game. But yeah, Virginia would be a terrible match up for Florida although they did beat them in 2017 in the round of 32 by a score of 65-39. If Virginia's offense is non-existent then Florida can win.
My sleeper this tourney is Seton Hall great coach that has experience taking a sleeper team far in the tournament and they have great wins over Marquette and UConn and went to triple ot with Creighton

The one thing that scares me away from Florida is their atrocious defense. If they can't score more than 75 points in a game, there's a very high chance they lose that game
I'm a BYU fan. If all the March Madness games were played at BYU, I would agree with you. BYU "might" be able to make it to the final four. But they don't play well on the road. Unfortunately.
BYU class of '84 alum here. I love my Cougars but projecting them in the Final Four is a stretch. Happy they're ranked and surviving in the toughest conference in the country, but they have laid a few eggs in games they should have won. Maybe Sweet 16 with some luck.
I’m feeling really good about Creighton rn. I think that roster might just be even better than last years. Creighton finally making a final 4 this year?👀
I guess I don’t really see BYU as an underperformer. The vast majority of BYU’s tourney losses have come to better seeds. The only recent exception was UCLA and they almost won the whole thing
I think Gonzaga is going to be nice picking however I see Byu could be a better pick I think it would be interesting to see how Washington state handles the pac 12 tournament I would think wsu could play Arizona and then we will see
Gonzaga and wsu, would be 2 teams that could make it to the final 4, northwestern, byu,, I think byu could pose a problem against, unc, Michigan Stare might upset uconn
I think Gonzaga got overrated to the point where people started underrating them. Maybe they didn’t deserve some 1 seeds, but their consistency in March is hard to bet against
Dear Danny, I hope this letter finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for your incredible contribution in making BYU a sleeper. Your dedication, hard work, and commitment have not gone unnoticed. Your efforts have brought about a significant positive change, and I am truly grateful for all that you have done. Your passion for our cause is evident, and it is inspiring to see how you tirelessly strive to make a difference.
Actually, this reads like someone trying to make fun of us BYU "shiny happy people". I'm a BYU guy myself and I can assure you that the great majority of us are not like this and have very guarded expectations for both the Big 12 and NCAA tournaments. A first-round win would represent great progress for the Cougars compared to recent history.
The reason non-conference games are not given as much credence is because there is nothing really on the line. They are often experimenting and figuring out your identity as a team. Hence, some teams that play poorly in non conference do well in conference games and those that do well perform poorly in conference games when there is something on the line.
Three sleepers not in the video that I think are worth mentioning. #1 Wake Forest. Truly a potential sleeper, they haven’t picked up the wins, but they’re 21st in bpi and 20th in kenpom. They have 3 guards averaging 13.5 ppg or more, and have a star in Salis. Definitely an #11 seed everyone should keep an eye out for. #2 I have New Mexico, also analytically loved, the top 3 scorers are all guards! Very pesky and twitchy, have a recipe to cause some chaos. Lastly I think Michigan State has potential Cinderella ALL over them!
I'm very high on Wake Forest! The Quad 1 wins aren't there similar to Gonzaga, but Wake Forest has a lot of good players on their roster. Hunter Sallis is one of the most slept on players in the country (trust me I go to Gonzaga and I watched him play in person)
I want to say byu due to them being in the big 12 and they will run into a big 12 team elite 8 gonzaga do not have that dog in them Illinois is a sleeper for me and south Carolina.
I like BYU, but one bad game, like they had against Kansas State, and they will be knocked out.. BYU may win a game or two in the tourney, if they are lucky, but odds are they will go cold a game and get knocked out.
BYU going to lose second round, Gonzaga going to lose in the sweet sixteen, Clemson going to be the 5 seed to lose to a twelve Providence going to lose in the first four, Washington State going to lose in the elite 8
If BYU has a good game, they can ruin anyone's night. Unfortunately, they are wildly inconsistent and have a bad habit of fading fast late in the game.
Wsu, byu, northwestern. Boo. Boo, you know you ate going to go far with something like that, unc might have to face off against Gonzaga or Colorado, poised for a number 1 knock out
They're doing just fine. They've learned from losing leads. They've won the last 3 games that they had late leads. With a shitty loss to okst. In the middle.
Well, how about that byu win at Kansas tonight?! And you’re incorrect on that. BYU beat SDSU on neutral territory, and UCF at UCF. So there are three Q1 wins not at the Marriott center.
