The physical method of reading this book really drives home the narratives within narratives, the story within a story within a story perspective. It makes you feel like you're the 4th dimension after Johnny T taking your own trip down the rabbit hole of psychosis. I recommend starting this book on a rainy day without. Aim for 8 hours of uninterrupted reading, you won't regret it ;)
Just watched your review, too. Excellent! I've wondered why I would do this to myself -- this seems like something only a crazy person would read. But you managed to make me curious ... hmm, I may have to give it a chance, maybe a bookshop perusal first. Happy New Year!
that looks so confusing! but at the same time it makes me want to read it even more.. (will have to wait for a when i have more time to spend on it though..)
this has elevated my curiosity about this book and at the same time irreparably intimidated me. it seems like this would be such a massive commitment, but hey, ive read It by Stephen King, one of the most complex stories i have ever experienced, 2 times, so why shouldnt i be able to read this once? im also in the mood to be terrified by a book soon!
Oh YAY! I am just getting in to this now! I also sent the link to this video to my friend who gave me the book so she can see what an adventure she has sent me on.
Thanks for making this. I just started reading it days ago and haven't yet run into the wonkier parts of the book (shown in video). It's possible I could figure it out myself, but I'll refer to this video when I get to those parts ☺
@@1book1reviewI have finally arrived at chapter 9 (woo-hoo) and I’ve noticed the “x” footnote is a trap every time after the second time it shows up, and I keep almost falling for it 😂
I don’t believe I have the full colored addition but I could be wrong because it’s buried on my book shelves somewhere. I absolutely love the format of the book but I’m so intimidated by it so I’ve had it for a good 15 years and still haven’t read it. 🙄😂📚
I can fully understand. It has its ups and downs and you must be in the mood for the weirdness of the writing and stretches of boring analysis. Still worth it.
Thanks. You sold me on the colour de-luxe edition. I thought it was only available in paperback. What will AI make of this kinetic masterpiece or rather, what will The House of Leaves make of AI ?
Great video! 👍I like to mark up my books, underline and highlight, use different colors and make notes in the margins. By the time I finished this book it would look even crazier than it already does.
I can’t wait to read it! My copy comes in today, but I have to finish librarian of auschwitz first so I have the time I can devote to reading this book
I don't understand I just got the remastered color edition. But hardback version, thier is no pictures at all just colored words. Do I have to get the paperback edition for the pictures.
it's UA-cam being annoying. I uploaded this video in 2013 as unlisted and discovered today by accident that it was still unlisted. But since annotations won't work anymore I just set it to public, without knowing UA-cam would push it out to my subscribers. This is a companion video to my review of House of Leaves which I read in 2013. Sorry for the confusion.
I've always been curious about this book. Is it worth the trouble? I hate gimmicky things like this, if the story is not good. I don't have the patience.
You should watch my review for more information. This video is the companion video to that, I just set it to public today as annotations don't work anymore. I loved the reading experience, but this book is boring and scary and fascinating.
I like how its not just a horror novel: the book itself fucks with you in how its written.
❤️❤️❤️😍😍💋
Yes, agreed!
That is so true!!!!

I know, it's been a while since my brain was in a state to deal (and crave) such a book. It is an understaking. Happy New Year to you too!

This books looks so confusing, it's a labyrinth of words.
I've come to the realization that this book is going to take me at least a few months to read.
Yes, plan that going in and it will be less frustrating that it can't be rushed in a week.
it like fighting fantasy book , so much page turning and finger bookmarking
haha, great description.
I’ve always wanted to read a book that made me feel like I was playing DDLC again
Go for it!

I know exactly what you mean! Give it a go, it is such a strange but rewarding read to look back on.

Good question! Enjoy the book :)
Yes, time is needed.
GORGEOUS!

You should get S by JJ Abrams and Doug Dorst. The best parts are the margins!
@@1book1review Thanks for the tip

Oh I don't know. Are there no pics in the appendix?
How come that all comments are 5 years old, when youjust posted the video?

Dont worry. I was just a bit confused and thought it was a yt glitch.

Imagine reading this in public....

Infinate Jest is so difficult to read
House of leaves: hold my beer
haha, yes.
It is, I kept flipping it in all directions. It looks kind of abused now.
Thanks!
This book is challenging to read, cause of the text arrangement. This Book is Really Worth of my time weird style egordic literature.
Agreed!
Was he deranged or something?
The character in the book? Totally!
Dude I just want to read the fucking book...
Due it! It's a trip.
This looks perfect to send my friend in prison. Thanks.
🤣
Gimmicky and...not all that enjoyable for the blind (and weary). Thanks for the video regardless.
Thanks for watching.
What the fuck
This isn't a book, it's a pretentious puzzle. Garbage.
Well, if you don't like it then don't read it. That's okay.
The author surely hates us
That is a take I have never thought about.
