Didn’t realize until week 4 that I missed Nate Tice so much in my pod lineup. Ended up replacing The Athletic Football Pod with Football 301 and I haven’t looked back. I freaking love this guy
Why Draft Harrison if you just need him to be a sacrificial X receiver. Nabers, BTJ and Bowers are all getting designed touches. It’s insane stuff going on in AZ.
Russell Wilson hatred clouds the judgment of football analysts which damages their credibility. Russell Wilson has 2nd best TD/INT ratio in nfl history and 2nd most TDs in history through players first 12 years, is top 10 all time in 4Q Comebacks and GWD and yet ppl still tried to pretend that Fields gave them a better chance to win games. There’s no other player who could have his resume who would warrant this level of skepticism
I don’t think it’s necessarily Russell Wilson hatred, but he’ll expect to be paid like a top 10 QB it’s probably better to pay fields almost nothing when you can still win with him.
@@queenjones1468 But that’s a separate argument. First of all they want to win in postseason and not regular season. Fields is far too limited as a passer right now to be a legit threat in playoffs. And the initial argument ppl had was that Fields gives them the best chance to win now which was always a lie
I 100% knew this would happen to Fields. It's okay for We The Fans or even YT analysts to fall for media rhetoric about a QB (is Purdy good or a system QB)? It's inexcusable for NFL coaches & GMs to. & the fact is Tomlin & Smith went into allowing fields to start with a "let's look out for signs of regression" attitude. The problem with that attitude is it's self-defeating. They limited Fields. Now if he does poorly they'll limit him ore & if he does well, they'll credit themselves & their systems. Sure enough, he threw One INT against the Chargers on a screen thrown With Anticipation. So clearly a Smith play-call. So how did Smith react? By limiting Fields more. He wouldn't allow him to throw long after that & that's why they lost to the Cowboys' injured secondary: Smith refused to *_allow_** Fields* to throw long. The _team_ lost. Russ gets into a groove Smith opened up the playbook. & *what* a groove it was. His best passes fell into the hands of the receivers. Never mind that he over & under-threw on most passes. Also, isn't That _Fields_ expertise? Hasmnt *Fields* thrown multiple passes that landed right in the hands of receivers? Fields' greatest passes got erased by penalties, Russ' drew them. Not something based on QB talent, but here we are. Fields has the _WORST_ luck.
i understand the frustration as a fields fan but i dont think its exactly what you are saying here: 1. fields wasnt the starter. he was obviously always intended to be the other guy. he didnt really regress even, tomlin just wanted to see russ in the game. 2. fields throws a great deep ball but russ' had more success because of how he throws it. russ was underthrowing instead of overthrowing, which suits pickens more and also results in pi penalties (meaning the pi wasnt luck, it was on purpose, because thats why you throw go balls like that). fields' deep passing game didnt really suit the players that the steelers have 3. the int he threw against the chargers was his fault. he threw it too late. he hesitated and he didnt get it in the window. he also had enough time to make another read if he wanted to, it wasnt like it was instantly thrown. it wasnt a screen. 4. i do think youre right that there was a bit of an agenda against fields, they needed him to be something right now and they werent gonna give him time to regress and develop on the field. i just dont think this team is in the right state currently to let a qb develop. the steelers wanna win a playoff game. i think fields right now was just ok. we saw flashes of more than that, but we also saw flashes of less than. i think fields showed some nice stuff, developed a little. but he wasnt doing well enough in the passing game at the time. he still struggles to make reads and to fully control an offense. he was making quite a few mistakes that a guy like russ just wont make. thats why smith was giving russ leeway, he just trusts that he knows better because russ does know better. i think fields will get another chance, probably even with this steelers team, maybe somewhere else. but its not like he was awesome. i do hope he continues to develop though
@@obtusemooose I've coached & trained. There's this teacher named Jane Elliott who got 'problem' students who became lawyers & doctors after she got hold of 'em. She taught grade 4. So things she did for kids at age ten stuck with them their entire lives & had she _not_ been given the chance to encourage them they'd be factory workers. Why is Fields *seen as* a project in the first place? His NFL play? Because he set accuracy records in college. We can see this here ua-cam.com/video/5JO1PsupF_U/v-deo.html in this video collage of his highlights with Caleb Williams'. Fields is better. At everything. His passes are low-flying missiles too high for defenders to touch that then land in the hands of his receivers. That takes arm strength & accuracy on a level we only see in Justin Herbert highlight reels. So he has an upper-tier arm in strength & accuracy. Does he not throw this way in the NFL? Yes. All anyone needs to do is watch his highlight reels. But I prefer his INT reel from his 1st year, '21. It shows what's happening better. In comparison to that first video ua-cam.com/video/glpaya0xz-4/v-deo.html shows his keystone receivers falling down. If you read the comments, there were 'free plays' where the other team being off-sides weren't called. & my favorite, passes going through the hands of Mooney or him deflecting them to other teams. For the Falcons, he's making élite catches, pulling ankle-breaking moves & flips into the end zone. For Fields, he gave the ball to the other team. Nagy refused to allow him to take practice with the starting receivers before being forced to put Fields into games. Instead of correcting this & watching what Fields could do he simply asked him to throw like Aaron Rodgers. Then there was Eberflus. You know how people say that awkward non-hug between Rodgers & Saleh was the clue to show Saleh's days were numbered? Fields went to shake Eberflus' hand on the sideline after a TD. 'Flus looked him in the eye, then coldly walked away leaving fields hanging there, telling the Entire Team that Fields was not to be treated with any respect. His Own HC, the guy responsible for team spirit etc. Told the entire team Fields was a goner. Gee, I wonder if this HC who boasted about meddling in offensive play0-calling meddled in the offensive play-calling in any way? 11 minutes into ua-cam.com/video/0nd2Ac1haEQ/v-deo.html we see how route-running, which we _see_ Mooney doesn't do for the Falcons gums up himself as at least one other receiver & didn't everyone _say_ that Getsy sucked at play-calling & they're glad he's gone? Didn't people cite the fact that after discovering how to use Fields' rushing ability, Getsy didn't call those plays for a full year afterwards? How tf did the OC sneak such incompetence past a competent HC trying to win games? He *didn't.* We know this for several reasons, not just the above. Those plays were only called during a 4 week period *after Fields called his coaches out.* They averaged 31 points over those 4 weeks, the Voluntarily Returned to calling plays that produced under 20 points. Any HC would have been fired just for doing that. But 'Flus was Poles' man carrying out Poles' directives. The plan was to move away from Fields No Matter What & to call plays designed to make that decision look necessary. Every negative thing we think we know about Fields was a product of play-calling. Now the Steelers are calling plays based on avoiding these negative aspects *of Fields* because they are too stupid to realize those things weren't him. I'm okay with casual fans who love empty memes treating him this way. NFL coaches? That's inexcusable.

I’m laughing at your 1st answers. I SO wanted Tice to say, “NO! You can’t say that you buy it for now”! 😂
