Reciprocal functions may not be rational functions.
Rational function can be continuous and in some cases the graph of the curve may pass through the horizontal asymptote. Understand all this from the playlist of videos.

Horizontal, vertical, oblique asymptotes, hole, domain and range along with x-intercepts, y-intercepts and equation from the graph are discussed in this video
i've been losing my mind for the past 4 hours trying to solve this, didn't find a video that helped my case, all the websites required me to pay to get the steps, i was about to give up but you saved my exam, thank you so much
Happy to see you here. Feel free to post questions. We try to provide FREE solutions. All the Best!
Amazing 😍😊😊
There is a little mistake here with replacing "c" in Sir. C= -( 3y+3), therefore b^2-4ac= ( 2y+2)^2+4(y-1)( 3y+3)= 8 ( y^2+y-1)
Range ={ y/y €R, y is less or equal to ( -1-√5)/2 and y is greater or equal to ( -1+√5)/2 }
Please check again. It looks correct to me. Thanks for the feedback
Thank you very much sir. It helps a lot. I am actually advancing my lessons to General mathematics, Pre-calculus, and Calculus 1(at the same time). And i've encounter that topic as you are talking about yesterday and Im still stuck of finding the range of rational functions with a degree of 2. I did the same approach you did sir and the only thing that I didn't know is just the quadratic discriminant. I mean... I thought I need to solve the entire quadratic in order to find the inverse function of the original rational function(with a degree of 2) and then look for the denominator of the inverse function and set it not equal to zero. Until I found your video sir.
what about if the denominator and nominator are above the two degree
How do the solution y+1 greater than or equals to zero could be y_ -1
