    I like to watch this final track agility final. But sad to say that the dog perform so well but the dog handler is to be blame because the handler is confuse and doesn't know where to direct the dog. Pitty the dog who train so hard and was disqualified by the judges.

    That is total crap, if the dog can jump off the seesaw mid air, it should be permitted, likewise if a dog can get over the ramp without touching the bottom panels it should be permitted, all they are doing is adding an element of luck to something that doesn't require it. Dogs are stumbling over themselves to hit the last bit of paint or luckily tagging it. Totally stupid.

    • @mathjoker
      @mathjoker 4 роки тому +2

      Luck? You mean training? Every obstacle has some means for the dog to "fail" the obstacle. If it was just a ramp or seesaw with no way to do it wrong then what would be the point? Perhaps next they should have jumps that are fixed and can't get knocked off, or put the dogs in a closed course so they can't go the wrong way.
      I'd also argue that just letting the dog jump off in no way demonstrates agility. Being able to walk down a ramp is definitely an agility skill. Lets say you had to run down a flight of stairs. Does it demonstrate more agility to just jump off or to race down while touching every stair along the way?

      @@mathjoker Agility by definition is "The ability to more quickly and easily" and sometimes lists gracefully as well. My argument is simple, stopping a dog on a seesaw is NOT agility, it is obedience and weight based. Making a dog run to the extreme bottom of a ramp to hit paint, increases its risk of injury due to causing it unnatural stress in its movements. The second point is backed by science, so dimwits can argue about it all day, I have proven them all wrong. These are the only two issues with the activity. Learn to read. Why would you suggest fixed jumps to risk further injury are you a complete idiot?

    • @mathjoker
      @mathjoker 4 роки тому +1

      @@tombobtail7706 Walking down a ramp certainly displays agility. Why do you think old people use hiking poles when they go downhill? Making the dog hit the paint ensures they actually run down the ramp instead of just jumping off the top.
      Assuming you agree that the dog should walk down the ramp at all rather than just jump off the top, how do you propose they judge whether the dog did that or not? Perhaps by marking a portion of the ramp that the dog has to touch....?

    • @starry99
      @starry99 3 роки тому +6

      i don't think you realise the impact on a dogs joints if it were to jump from the top of an a-frame to the bottom, it's safer for them to incline down rather than jump. It also shows proof of training and skill as it's more natural for the dogs to jump off rather than to wait and touch or stride and touch the contact point.

    • @tombobtail7706
      @tombobtail7706 3 роки тому

      @@starry99 They don't need to jump from the top of anything, they should be encouraged to naturally jump from where they feel most comfortable to clear the obstacle.

  • @tombobtail7706
    @tombobtail7706 4 роки тому +3

    The dog walk is idiotic. If your dog runs efficiently and doesn't take as many steps, it is penalized if it doesn't happen to hit the paint. This isn't a measure of agility.

    • @theservicegrey598
      @theservicegrey598 4 роки тому +12

      It’s a safety measure. Yes we want the dogs to be as agile and fast as possible, but there is a safe way to do it. Jumping off from too far up could very easily cause injury. A hurt dog is no good.

    • @tombobtail7706
      @tombobtail7706 4 роки тому

      @@theservicegrey598 That is rubbish, the horizontal height of the seesaw or jumping the paint at the end of the ramp is no higher than a normal jump for a dog. It is also nothing compared to dogs working or doing high jumps. If a dog calculates that it can do it from experience, it is probably capable. What you have written is total fictional rubbish. The real reason that the rules are there, is because otherwise a dogs speed and ability would largely be decided by genetics and the same dogs would continue to win because you remove the luck elements. Also dogs that run efficiently take less steps, so teaching a dog to take an unnatural amount of steps to hits marks or wait for a seesaw to slowly drop, which is entirely weight dependent, is ludicrous.

    • @maiarostved
      @maiarostved 4 роки тому +6

      Tom Bobtail It’s not all about speed though, it’s also about technique, discipline and plain simple; the rules of the sport.

    • @tombobtail7706
      @tombobtail7706 4 роки тому

      @@maiarostved Yeah that is fine, if you want to make the argument for rules of the "sport". I'm arguing that those patricular rules should be scrapped. As you say it isn't just about agility, it has become a partial "performance". I can tell you, that if they made it less BS and more about trying to get the best performance out of a dog and trainer, many more people would take interest and become involved with the activity. I have a world class dog sitting right next to me. I wouldn't waste my time as it stands now though and I know many others who agree. Agility needs to become more relaxed and realize that potential entrants are very different people, to who attend normal dog shows.

    • @maiarostved
      @maiarostved 4 роки тому +5

      Tom Bobtail I’m sorry but that’s the weirdest attitude I’ve ever heard/read someone have of agility. I guess I’ll argue that agility is not for everyone then, as you need that level of discipline that not everyone has apparently. Agility is already the most popular sport for dogs, so I don’t think they’re interested in changing the rules so you and your “world class dog” feel like participating. I don’t get what you’re trying to do with this? It’s a sport for dogs for christ’s sake, you can do it as “relaxed” as you want, you’re just not gonna be participating in crufts that way.
