I've got about 600 UA-cam subscribers, and my Spotify listens barely get above double figures, so you're doing very well in my book. Its all relative I suppose. The inner voice is a pain in the arse. I know what I can do, what I'm good at, and I have had audiences tell me (positively) when I play live, but imposter sydrome shouts loud. I'll keep going though. :)

Hi Laura, to answer your question I'm building a model railway, it's slow progress because I let life get in the way. It all started from Julia Cameron's advice in the Artist's Way to "let your Artist Child play". Which I heard about from you and is literally changing my life for the better. I write fanfiction and creative writing, and post it online for fun, but I've definitely caught myself worrying over how many people are reading it or interacting with it. This really resonated with me because of that - when you really think about it, 50 people reading something I wrote is a lot. If I read out anything I wrote to even just five strangers I would be overjoyed that anyone cared enough to read it, let alone if some of those were repeat readers. I'm doing it for fun, because I want to share my stuff with the world and that's all that matters.

It’s SO EASY to get stuck in Feeling Bad About Yourself Hours with this kind of stuff. I know this because I do pretty much every time I stay up past midnight and I’m too tired for my thoughts to be peer-reviewed. My channel is the tiniest of small potatoes and I know it’s an uphill battle to grow it because I’ve committed to doing things that take me months between uploads to produce. Im working on a debut solo album (which will more than likely be an EP to keep the cost in check)
Still kind of in the writing stage, but I've recorded and mixed one track as a demo that ended up good enough to make me stop working on that one since its good to go. The rest are all still brewing lol

Helloooo 😁 Currently distracted by life, the day job and band stuff, so not producing anything at the mo. I have taken to not feeling guilty anymore about vegging out and not working on my own music 'cause I'm too tired or don't even feel like it sometimes. I seem to produce my best stuff when I'm not even trying 😊
Anyhoo, thanks for your advice. Always interesting to hear. We are all, of course, different, with different hopes, dreams and goals, maybe no goals at all. It's all good. For me though, who the heck wants to be famous? I much prefer to be anonymous and free....free to go to the Co-op and buy my packets of tea, without the need to wear sunglasses....in a shop 😂

There are many days when I think it’s impossible for me to complete my goal, and many more when I wonder if anyone will ever listen, if I do ever finish it.
But your videos always seam to get me back on track.

You're working on your album, and that's what it's all about! You're not only thinking about it or talking about it, you're doing it. So, well done. And I think you already know that considering the audience for your songs isn't your job right now, it's just to make whatever music you want. So your attitude is spot on!
In a recent video I shared my favourite quote about this stuff, if you haven't seen it then you might find this useful on rainy days:

Just because somebody has 100k "subscribers", how many actually watch and how many respond? A lot of those people are absolute tw♤ts and churn out dross. You have 4600 interested people and couldn't post dross if you tried ... i mean, you'd edit or not post it! 😂 Your honesty, integrity and commitment means more than pandering to the masses.
