- If you're planning on enlisting in the military and you have a degree this video is for you! I joined the military after graduating college in 2021. Here are some opinions I have and the experiences I have enlisting with a degree.
If you're still in college, I would highly recommend looking into the ROTC program.
If you enjoyed this video please give it a thumbs up!

Thanks for making this vid. I got a degree and work experience but in the process of joining the AF.
Good luck on your journey, reach out if you need anything!
These videos are appearing at the right time in my life. Currently at a crossroads of joining enlisted, rather than trying to apply for OTS with just a degree and little leadership experience. Thank you for your videos!
I understand the position you’re in, and I hope you got something out of the video! Good luck on your journey!
From giving me dope haircuts at the DET to making dope youtube videos....hell yeah Rod!
Thanks brother! 🙌
You continue to inspire me everyday to be great man 🔥
I appreciate it brother! It's all love
Bachelors degree in mass comms. Hit a wall at 100k in IT recruiting. The tech industry took a nose dive 2 years ago. Thinking about joint the military and trying to get into Tech that way. It’s tough breaking into the IT industry in the civilian world
Thank you for the advice. I am attending Meps today to complete my asvab and the comprehensive medical and physical exam. Hoping to get enlisted as a public affairs specialist.
Air Force OTS is ridiculously hard to get into unless you have a specialized degree (I.e medical/engineering), went through ROTC, or the Academy. It can be done but it’s very, very hard.
Never considered rotc. But now that I’m graduating and have taken a summer internship in accounting, I realize I don’t feel a great sense of purpose here on the civilian side. I’ve always thought about joining the military since high school but never pursued it either. I always thought joining would mean participating in something bigger than myself.
I have a similar story to you. I graduated in 2023 with a degree in Economics. I worked for a small family-owned hedge fund after that, got laid off after 6 months since the fund took a hit. Now I am a finance analyst for a PR firm in a verge of getting let go again. I made/make great money but I also do not feel fulfilled in my job as you said. I also learned that there is no job security in this industry and would like to bring my skills to the Air Force. How are you now? Did you join?
Thank you! God bless you in Jesus name ❤
(great video, but i don't think you are considering the NCO part of it) it doesn't help when you first get in....and doesn't really help when you are an airman. BUT..............
but it does help ALOT when you become a 5 level and are ready to for promotion. Your performance report in the air force REQUIRES college education and lots of career fields you cannot get promoted to the top 3 enlisted ranks without AT LEAST an associates, if not a BA/BS If you have the BA/BS, you have that always checked off (although some might tell you to do an MA/MS to get a perfect on your score for education). Not to mention the study skills you learned to get through a BA/BS will give you a HUGE edge over the rest of your career field when you take your tests for promotion.
And no, you will not be a "worker bee" forever. E1 to E4, yes you are (in the USAF). E5 to E6, you are less worker bee and more manager/leader. When you hit E-7, you are not worker bee unless its an emergency. At that point your job is to manage people or your career field.
Also keep in mind, in the USAF, O1-to O2 are mostly not managing people. Some do, but in the USAF those ranks in officers tend to be learning and doing their job: "pilot", "missiler", "Chaplain", "Doctor", "nurse", "lawyer" . They start to become leader/managers at 03 or 04. Now do some 01's lead USAF units? sure. But its more rare than say the Army, where most 01s are primarily leaders.
Does it sound like a USAF E-3 and O-1 are doing the same thing? In a way yes, only the O-1 is GENERALLY doing something more technical
At this point i could go on forever about why the officer/enlisted divide is and where it comes from, but if you have a BA/BS, the above is right, you are not guaranteed a commission but it will make it easier for making rank after the first four years.
I currently have an AA in public administration and am currently enrolled at a 4 year public university for Communications but I just started and have a year and a half left. I would really like to join the AF to Public Affairs. Would I be better off finishing school or should I join now? What are the benefits in either choice?
I have a. Bachelor’s degree in political science and want to be a public affairs officer. Do I still go to bmt or go to ost.
If you join the AF and get picked up for commission you go straight to OTS.
Piece of advice? get your masters first. ROTC has a TON Of poli sci majors or those that didn't become pilots that become PA officers. For OTS you need to show them that you have more than the average graduate.
Question: If you come with some college credits with a promotion, do you get that rank promotion E2/E3 after you graduate basic training or as soon as you start basic training?
If you come in with enough college credits you will receive E3 pay during the whole BMT process and onward.
@@TheWealthyWarrior_ What about if you have a master's degree? Will you be a E4 or E5?
@@jaecaliente if you have a masters I would really encourage you to go the officer route. As far as I know you’ll still be an E3
I have my bachelors in accounting and an MBA. I work for my local city as an accountant. I want to join the Air Force in a few years after I get my CPA. How can I get a job in accounting when I join the Air Force?
Hey bro, I have a Computer Science degree and the market is terrible right now I have no experience but I want to join the Air Force just for some experience. Do you think it would be feasible to do well and get a commission?
Yes cyber jobs are in high demand rn in the military!
Especially in the USSF
@@TheWealthyWarrior_ Just got enlisted and accepted doing Cyber!
Can you do four more semesters just to do rotc if you already have a degree?
Hey bro, i have a question. I did 64 credit hours in Computer science but in Egypt ( 2 years) would i get enlisted at E1 ???? Or at what 😅
at what age did you join sir?
I was 22 when I joined
Would you say the same thing if someone were to go Air Guard? I was thinking about doing the same as Public Affairs and I have an Associates Degree and almost done with my Bachelor's degree
I honestly can’t speak on the Guard. I have some friends in the Guard though and they seem to enjoy it.
I have one more semester of college left do you think the military would pay for my school if I go back and get an associate degree?
Yes, but you mgiht not need to. All airmen are enrolled in the community college of the air force for an associates degree in their career field. Basically you need some GEs and some other stuff. If you are one semester away and enlist in the filed that is closest to your major, you might, just might, qualify for a CCAF degree upon completion of your 5 skill level.
