The only way I'd let my kids into the industry is if they'd want to, but I'd limit how many projects they would do. If they want to act I wouldn't have them be a lead role in a show or movie as a kid, but they can be a reoccurring role or something. I'd mainly encourage them to voice act because it'll be easier to navigate that and childhood, all you'd have to do is remember your lines, go into a studio and record and I'd be there to supervise. I would allow them to be a lead role in a voice acting show. Plus with voice acting it's easier to not be in the spotlight but still get work. Now I wouldn't encourage my kid to be a singer that young, too much touring and promotion.

Your comment says everything I needed to know so Imma be nice and school you. He is aesthetically NOT marketable according to industry standards. Product and marketing are the key factors here. The marketing is WAY more important than the product and the product is Prod’s vocals and the group itself. Their management team exploited the other three guys because of their aesthetic which it did impact the group’s success. The lady addressed it in the video. Only Prods vocals made it. His position as lead didn’t matter and it didn’t matter that he could sing. That’s what the majority of you don’t understand. In business, It’s gonna ALWAYS be how you market the product over the product itself, no matter how good or amazing it is. Quiet as it’s kept, even their management aka camp KNEW he wasn’t going to be, but they used him anyway but as a placeholder because he could sing and dance, but that was it. And the group wasn’t gonna last anyway because they NEVER do. Members get older and want to do their own thing. It’s a sad situation but now you’ve learned a thing or two about how cutthroat the industry is just by watching this video.

@@jjlovelovelovelove9266 I think it’s very unfair to assume that considering we did not see him solo at the beginning of his career in the goddamn first place. You can assume they only worked as a whole because that’s how they even began being marketed. Otherwise, we wouldn’t know how easy it would’ve been had they put a completely different member than Prod and actually held singing auditions.
Prod’s singing was keeping them musical without all the autotune. That’s why his mic was the only one that was on. They went down faster because the managerial mistreatment got they keystone member gone after people already got attached. They could definitely provide visuals. But without the vocals, it’s *all visual* that people could really focus on.

Prods vocals alone did not make them millions. This was a business move on the managements part. This was just a shady way of doing it. His singing was the product and so is the group Mindless Behavior. The other guys being quote on quote desirable was part of their marketing strategy which made the group blow up with his vocals in the mix. In the business world, it is always marketing over the product no matter how “great” it is. Sadly in this case it was that and colorism played into it. It wasn’t the rest of the guys fault they were taken for granted too. It was the adults that put the group together and the fans that were rude of course

That wasn’t the best decision. The best decision would’ve been letting you chase your dreams but being by your side and having your back. There are so many talented young actors who thrived and weren’t exploited because of how heavily there parents were involved in there careers. The problem is, parents sign there kids away to these record labels and managers and expect them to have there back.
The reason why I commented on this post was because I sometimes feel that as a community we forget how we only live once. Black people black in the day despite segregation and the racism they went through everyday still came together through music, partying or whatever and had a good time. I feel like we’re getting to a point where we losing that we’re letting evil win, and just saying introverted in the house. Like no live life to the fullest. Thanks if you made it this far lol wow , thanks for listening to my Ted talk lol.

I noticed a lot of people pointing out how strange it is that the parents just sent their son away to perfect strangers with the promise of betterment. But what’s even more weird is that ppl have literally been doing this for centuries… medieval times poor ppl would sent their children off to random strangers who would promise to educate them or get them better opportunities or things like that. What’s truly unsettling about this is that it’s apparently relatively easy to get people to give you their children just at the promise of fortune…

I think because a lot of the people who send their children are struggling with raising their child or are desperate to gain access to upward mobility. There’s also the aspect of parental freedom and flexibility once the child is sent away. To a poor family or someone trying to make their child a star it’s not hard to influence them with glitz and glamour. You have to realize that you can never guarantee that your children are really happy and cared for unless you are actually present (even then you are subject to be in the dark of something) Personally, I would never send my son anywhere without me . I have considered baby modeling, but the industry is so saturated with predatory behavior I don’t think it’s worth the risk .

I was a HUGE Mindless Behavior fan, honestly I was obsessed with them from 2011-2014. I mean, I was really in deep. Fanpages on Instagram, imagines on Tumblr, TMAD on Instagram/Twitter, rp on Kik, streaming on Keek, watching dance covers of all of their songs on UA-cam, even finding childhood photos of them for the fandom and everything. I was even friends with their moms on Facebook back then. Those fond memories were all that kept me afloat back then and I became really depressed after Prodigy left. I was 10-toes down for those boys at ANY point in time. I was having a really hard time at home and they were my escape. So, when I started hearing rumors from news outlets and seeing subliminal posts from their close friends and family back in 2012, I knew that they were on unstable ground. The pure stress of wanting to make it big, the uncoordinated online schooling, being away from family for months and even years at a time, having to hide their true personalities and age, telling their loved ones and fans that they were okay when they really weren't, trying to live up to extremely high expectations in a world that already doesn't like brown faces, etc. MB somehow succeeded and I was so proud to be able to call a Black boyband my favorite for a short time in my life. What they went through would be a lot for anyone, especially CHILDREN, so I understand why they didn't want to regroup. The very things that they naturally loved to do (dance, sing, rap) were quickly overshadowed by horrible adults that wanted nothing more than a ticket to stardom. So much greed, negligence, and spite surrounded their career because of the adults in their lives and it makes me upset to know that they were mistreated throughout the entirety of the group's existence. Seeing their downfall start in real time back in late 2013 was horrifying and confusing, and I'm sure it was even harder for the members. Prodigy left the group a month before I seen them live for the first time and it was so sad. I still wish them the best because its not easy to heal from trauma. That's why I'd NEVER support them regrouping or meeting up for interviews just to appease former fans. Those boys and their families got neglected, betrayed, and downright abused behind the scenes. Thank you so much for this documentary! Seeing the events compiled and explained really breaks my heart. Although I still follow all 4 of them on Instagram still, pictures don't represent real life most times. I hope all 4 men are still doing what's best for themselves and pursuing their passions. 😢💕

Watching his intro videos in their movie and seeing him on stage you could see how dedicated he was to his craft. He was truly a star yet never got the true recognition he deserved. He was so laid back, and kept to the side while the other members wanted the the shine. I never realized how sad he was deep down with everything he was experiencing behind the scenes. I wish them all the best. The original 4 will always be my favorite 😭😍🙌🏾❤️. I hope one day they can have a reunion/tour.

In girl groups, mostly all of the members know how to sing. Like yes the dancing was good and the boys were cute but the only person singing was Prod. I miss the boy band era though. I feel like that was a time where kids were still kids. They made music that was age appropriate and appealed to the younger audience. However, I’m not sure how that would’ve played out had the group stayed together and got older.

The music was age appropriate but in almost every boy band/girl group story of every generation you hear about manipulation, abuse, and behind the scenes interactions that aren’t appropriate. So it makes you wonder if ‘famous kids’ are ever worth it.
I almost want to keep talented kids/musical prodigies to after school activities. If they are talented, give them time to become adults. The talent will still be there. Many of these kids burn out before they get a real chance at adult stardom because the ‘job’ part of it harms them before they even are adults.
