My feel box, is when I feel my ball-box and I give them a little sniff, my play-box is when I play with my ball-box until I give myself a chub-on and just rub one out on the fairway or green.

Rick, would you tee up your ball as part of Box 1, 2 or 3? I'd probably nip into Box 3 and tee up after Box 1 (club selection, visualisation) so I can then move from Box 2 (Feel) straight onto Box 3 (Hit), or would you suggest not trying up until you are in Box 3?

My pre-shot routine: Walk up, waste two absolutely perfect practice swings that just lightly skim the grass, which would result in a perfect touch on the ball, without even leaving a divot, then address the ball and chunk the ever living hell out of the earth 6 inches in front of the ball, come out of the divot I just made and still manage to _THIN_ the ball itself and hit it 30 yards past the green. I’m _REALLY_ good at it.

It’s absolutely mandatory to do this, even if you don’t use your specific routine. Since I always ride, I’m looking at the hole as I pull up to the teeing area. If it’s a par 3, I grab my range finder for a quick shoot from the tee and then grab the appropriate club. By the time it’s my turn to hit, I will have decided how and where I need to hit the ball by looking at wind direction and hole layout. At that point, it’s time to hit away. Cheers, Rick. This is a great reminder of the basics that many of us do without thinking too much about the process.
