This video is a step by step detailed diy of me repairing my Nissan Qashqai tailgate boot lid handle which has broken, I am using a repair kit designed my a company called X8R this is a very common fault with the Nissan Qashqai mark1 and mark2 models the plastic hooks that hold the tailgate in place become weak and brittle over time and snap off leaving the owner to with an expensive repair bill and often they just use some kind of duck tape to hold it in place for the meantime, and this has become a very common sight on these Qashqai’s. This repair kit comes with the replacement plastic tabs that perfectly slot into place replacing the old broken ones and is a fairly simple and a very cost effective alternative to buying a new one and it is very affective and seems to be very durable. I hope it is of some help to anyone wishing to repair their own Qashqai thank you for watching please like share and subscribe.

Azz - thanks to this video I have now completed this repair. I am a long way from being a DIYer or Mechanic. So a hearty thanks, I would not have succeeded without it.
However.......for other viewers there are two important points to make about the replacement kits:
    1) Originally the handle is held by five bolts and one stud. Six connection points in total, The kit replaces the two at either end, thus four in total, and not the two in the middle. All six of mine had broken. Advice - if one side starts to fail fix it straight away, don't leave it for the middle two connections to snap. My repair is not quite the perfect snugness in the middle as a result.
    2) Azz's video shows two bulb connections and one grey electrical connection. In the Techna version of the Qashquai there is a second grey electrical connection and crucially this is held in place by one of the four brackets ultimately replaced. The replacement brackets are not designed for this version. I have had to tape this connection point up inside the handle. Doable, but fiddly and certainly not ideal.
Just on the process I add the following from experience for those ready to proceed:
    a) the trim removal. Those two studs right at the beginning. I tried and tried to prize them off. On closer inspection there is an inner disc of approx. 8mm and an outer disc of say 15mm. Just prize up the inner bit and its easy. Don't try to prize the larger disc off like I did! Thankfully I failed and paused.
    b) the trim removal. On the side the large lower trim panel joints a smaller upper panel. Time to be gentle when prizing apart. I snapped a few shards of plastic off so the joint is no longer flush now replaced
    c) the six bolts. They seem longer than they need to be. My simple socket set doesn't have a longer10mm extension so I couldn't fit the head over the bolt thus resorting to an adjustable spanner to loosen first. Borrow a good socket set if you can, it will made an awkward job very simple.
    d) Don't do this in the rain. May sound simple but I didn't think. I took off one day, let the brackets dry over night, came back to the car after the previous nights rain and the bulbs had water in them. Its obvious but when the handle is off the bulbs and electrics are exposed.

Thanks Azz, excellent video with all the details you need for a job like this. No throwaway lines like' remove the trim inside the boot' - everything explained and demonstrated. At ~20mins it is long but worth the watch - probably saved me hours and helped produce a better job.

Thank you for making very detailed video!
The best tip in this video is sanding of the paint on the Back,
I bet many of the bad reviews on Amazon was down to not sanding, and not applying the aceton with a brush.
I see many comments about saving 250£, in Norway, including the paintjob, it would easely be 425-450£.

Just so everyone is aware there are 6 clips 5 bolds and a plastic black clip. The black plastic clip in the inside right one. I just replace that with one of the bolt clips and pushed that into one of the middle holes as there broken also. So basically you only replacing 4 clips out of the six clips that hold on this piece on. Unless the middle clips are still intact.
