I think the entire 15th season of Big Brother should be mentioned because of how much bullying and discrimination amongst the house guests there was throughout that season. It still leaves a bad taste in my mouth when I think about it nowadays and it’s shameful how some of them behaved
Even more shameful is that people will still defend Aaryn and GinaMarie and claim that they didn't deserve the treatment they got from production and from the fans, never mind that live feeds exist for a reason, so can't exactly use the editing excuse when plenty of fans saw it go down in real time
@@NYChica23 Galatians 6:7-9 talks about reaping what you sow, so with that being said, Ginamarie and Aaryn chose to behave like that in the house and on the live feeds, so in other words, they made their bed and now they have to sleep in it, meaning they did reap what they sowed
Tyra Banks was in the wrong. She wanted Tiffany to cry and be upset but when she didn't get what she wanted, then she decided to humiliate her by yelling instead.
There were even parts edited out, Tyra told Tiffany go sleep on the mattress on the floor with your baby, I remembered I was on Tyra’s side when I was younger, but now looking at it, she was dead wrong to scream at her like that
You missed one, The Swan. Don't remember the Swan? It was that show about a bunch of "ugly ducklings," AKA women who were not conventionally beautiful, were given extensive and invasive plastic surgery to make them into "swans" Most of the women who went on the show came out of it with intense body dismorphia, ruined love lives, and the inability to even go outside.
I’m sorry but who the hell thought Are You Hot was a great idea for a show? The way the judges berate some of contestants was downright hostile, especially since they are still attractive.
The same people that thought The Swan (which I'm surprised wasn't on here) was also a good idea, because to those who don't know what The Swan is, it's a reality show whose entire premise was taking unattractive people and giving them plastic surgery to fix every single imperfection on their bodies
He supposedly also got arrested, been threatened with guns, and it's interesting that when they are in a home or place of business and are told to leave, but don't, and their security is absolutely horrible. They do nothing more than half the time when people start fighting, especially women. Kind of makes you think it is staged.
This is a list of reality TV! I had a girlfriend that worked as a "mistress " on that show. They even used her apartment to stage one of the cheatings.
the death of Phil Harris was one of the most well filmed real TV i have ever seen. everyone who had been watching deadliest catch was invested in the program and all its characters. Phil was viewed as the leader and rightly so, everyone looked to him for advice and support. so when he fell ill on the show, we were all glued to the set to see [hope] that he would pull through, which he sadly didnt. but the way it was filmed couldnt be faulted
Yea I never faulted deadliest catch producers or the network.. they were their to film the raw footage and they did and they were respectful and upset as well
Agreed. Some would argue an arborist 100 feet up with a chainsaw is just as dangerous but at least they can call 911. Waiting hours for the Coast Guard or falling overboard is not worth any amount of money
I don't watch Deadliest Catch anymore, but I did back when Phil passed away. He was really beloved by a lot of the fanbase, and I never felt that the coverage of his funeral and memorial were exploitative. Quite the opposite, actually... it was very heartfelt and emotional, and was treated with respect by the show runners.
I figured his family okayed it, because they knew he had so many fans and of course money, but I like to think that it was mostly because so many people liked him and the family wanted the fans to grieve with them.
Frank Eudy, Big Brother 18. He sexually assaulted some of the women, and not only did production not condemn him for it, but they also tried to rig the game for him with that bs round-trip ticket twist
You should have made “Megan Wants a Millionaire” number 1 on your list being that this reality show involved a murder and suicide. One episode you should have included on your list was an episode of “Survivor All-Stars” when a naked Richard Hatch rubbed his privates on Sue Hawk’s backside during an immunity challenge. Even though Richard was voted off by the tribal council that night, Sue was so upset by the incident the next morning she ended up quitting the show.
Also add the Survivor merge episode of Island of the Idols, because not only did Dan not get the hint that Kellee telling him "don't touch me" meant exactly that, but then to add even more outrage, we have Missy and Elizabeth deciding to exploit the whole situation for gameplay reasons by going to Janet and claiming they were also uncomfortable with the way Dan was acting, only to later take it all back and gaslight the fuck out of Kellee and Janet by now making them look like they were all making it up, never mind that production had to be called in because of how visibly uncomfortable Kellee was around Dan

Interesting that Phil Harris' illness and death is on here, because I remember at the time, Deadliest Catch was praised for how they handled it. The episode where he died is the only Deadliest Catch episode I've seen, and I thought it was handled very well. It wasn't exploitative at all - they didn't even show Phil on camera.
I would say that Zach Braff's reaction getting "Punk'd" is up there. The guy was so pissed about his brand new car being sprayed that he after the kids, caught one of them, and, by his own admission, if he hadn't realized how young the kid looked he would would have beat him. MTV edited things, so that fans wouldn't realize how close the "prank" went off the rails. Another instance of Punk'd going sideways was an attempt was made to "prank" the Black Eyed Peas. The band realized that the cops were fake, but thought it was a robbery attempt, and a fight broke out before things were deescalated. That never made it on air.

I don’t think Stephen slapping Irene on MTV’s “The Real World” in Seattle should even be on your list. I felt Irene deserved to be slapped. Outing someone as gay is bullying. Irene was a real karen. Had I’d been Stephen, I would have done the same. This was one of those rare instances where bad behavior is justified. Irene asked for it. Bullies need to be taught a lesson. I have an issue with the criminal justice system that allows bullies to hurt people without consequence. I’m one of those that does not believe character is determined by how you act when somebody does something bad to you. I believe character is determined by how you treat people and Irene did not treat Stephen right.

Oh reality television, it's amazing what you got away with. Back then it seemed like TV could get away with ANYTHING. It's a far cry from today, where everything offensive is filtered out or scrutinized under a microscope.
I was totally expecting the sexual harassment incident from Survivor season 39 to show up here. It was the first time a contestant was pulled from the game due to misconduct, and it happened far too late. To the shows credit, they’ve vowed since to be quicker with responding to stuff like that, but the situation was disturbing and should’ve been handled better.
The minute that Banks brutally walloped Will Smith in one episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, I knew right from the start that she would eventually become a bad role model for women everywhere. No wonder why Space Ghost wouldn’t let her speak when she appeared on his animated talk show.
The problem is that the same 5-6 writers are behind most of the shows so they are really out of ideas. Those that aren’t downright offensive are just stupid. It’s time for this genre to go the way of most of the soap operas
There was an ABC reality show with a premise so horrendous and racist that it never even made it to air. It was called Welcome to the Neighborhood. What was the premise? 7 families of different backgrounds, ethnicities, and orientations compete for the favor of a private neighborhood full of conservative white families so they can win a lavish house in said neighborhood. Aside from the fact that several of the white families were openly bigoted against the contestant families, to the point one of them moved out after the winning family, a gay couple with a black adopted child, moved in. The whole thing was broken from the start and reeked of racism and homophobia. Why should any of these families be forced to change who they are just to appease a neighborhood full of people who hate them ? The premise was so stupid and problematic that several organizations declared it violated the Fair Housing Act, with the National Fair Housing Alliance saying it would press charges against ABC if the series was ever aired. Sufficed to say, the whole thing was canceled and swept under the rug.
The two entries to the list that caught my attention the most were the scenes from “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” and “America’s Next Top Model.” The two banshees screaming and throwing a fit remind me of an incident that occurred at my former job at the now defunct Shearson Lehman Brothers in New York in late 1989. I was at the job for four years and had the misfortune to answer to a racist anti-male female supervisor for the last year I was there who hated me from day one and never treated me fairly. What led me to submitting my two-week notice to leave the next day was when my female supervisor exploded at me in the same way those two karens in “Real Housewives” and “America’s Model” exploded. This was over a mistake she made and instead of accepting responsibility she blamed it on me. To make matters worse, her boss was her ally so I knew I stood no chance of convincing him to fire her. What she did was also legally actionable except I didn’t have the funds to sue her. Had she acted like that in the presence of police, she would have been arrested for disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace. The incident left me psychologically traumatized and also led me to believe that women shouldn’t be in management - or in the office. The two women blowing up at people in the video should be committed to mental institutions.
There was an episode in season 6 of The Amazing Race where a contestant named Jonathan has hit his own wife Victoria while they were racing to the pit stop. I was pretty surprised that it didn't show up on this list.
There was that episode on Survivor when someone was outted as transgender to make a point that was completely useless. Was completely messed up to out someone on national television

Oh reality television, it's amazing what you got away with. Back then it seemed like TV could get away with ANYTHING. It's a far cry from today, where everything offensive is filtered out or scrutinized under a microscope.
All reality TV is trash
NY Med committed a pretty bad HIPAA violation
It is so crazy to me how Dax Shepard got his start on Punk’d. Now he is famous married to Kristen Bell
Forklift foot?.....that ran over her face apparently as well
I'm surprised you didn't mention Storage Wars where the Auctioneer and Bidder actually got into a fist fight 😱
Damn...
Hot or not! " Panel of experts "😂😂 . We didn't know there's such a an expert. Tyra B. Ghetto came through full force.😂😂😂
3:17 the definition of reality TV shows.
Some of these shows I never heard of lol
Tyra embarrassed herself. Shameful on every level.
Guess that was not the flavour of love😅😅😅
Omg I miss the real world. Chicago was my favorite season.
Looking back the show Bad Girls Club had a LOT of moments that went too far. Also Love and Hip Hop
I'm sorry, I think the exploitation of children is more over the line than Snooki being punched.
The Louds huh? Hmm. I wonder if there’s a family whose name is The Quiets?
There is! And every Friday they do a 'whisper' challenge!
The guy from Megan wants a millionaire gives me dating game killer vibes.
There was an episode in season 6 of The Amazing Race where a contestant named Jonathan has hit his own wife Victoria while they were racing to the pit stop. I was pretty surprised that it didn't show up on this list.
All are kinda serious then you get to number 5 and wonder why it’s number 5
There was that episode on Survivor when someone was outted as transgender to make a point that was completely useless. Was completely messed up to out someone on national television
