    Very cool. Really enjoy the little look behind the curtain regarding how decisions were made, Jamey. And very excited to try out this new expansion this weekend!

    I'd love to see what the future would look like in Europa. If that's set in 1920s with mechs and such it would be awesome to see some hyper-futuristic look with the same action selection style and slot selections and all kinds of other cool stuff. Gotta say I like the game play a lot in Scythe

    My pre-order was just delivered today, and my goodness the photos did not do these ships justice! :D The ships are truly huge and just look great. If my roleplaying game falls through this weekend, I am grabbng some friends for some Scythe!

      Thanks, I'm glad you like them! Because of the goal of making them big enough to hold workers or resources, they needed to be quite big. :)

    Cool uses for airships - I'm always curious about how these are used in games where airships aren't the main focus, but just one element in the larger game engine. My current design uses them in that fashion, only with different specifics so it's especially interesting to me!

    Heroes of Land Air and Sea has some brilliant components that physically "carry stuff"! Love it both this and HoLAS

    I love the ships in Black Fleet that hold the cargo cubes. Gives a nice feeling moving the ships around while physically carrying the goods. Looking forward to picking up the Wind Gambit expansion!

    The Matt Leacock Thunderbirds game also has vehicles that literally carry things - both the characters, in the form of character pegs, and Thunderbird 2 can physically carry Thunderbird 4 and POD vehicles. Definitely looking forward to getting the expansion to the table.

    There's a game out there that has a component that carries certain other components in the game that I believe doesn't get much credit is Matt Leacock's "Thunderbirds" Co-op game. In the game you play as members of the crew from the British kids cult classic "Thunderbirds" tv series and your going all over the world going on missions while trying to defeat the crew's nefarious enemy Dr. Evil (which the game board play as). Its has a great pick up and delivery mechanic to it trying to work as a team to get certain members or their rescue vehicles to certain places on a world map in order to get bonuses that make accomplishing a mission easier for ya. But there's one vehicle (and another one if you have the Tracy Island expansion to the game) that could carry others vehicles easily to further places on the map faster.
    The game may not be as innovative as Leacock's flagship game "Pandemic" but its still a very demanding game as a co-op game. And besides its always good to note that the game itself helped me get into KickStarter as the first game that I backed that included all the three expansions to it :)

    The ships in Akrotiri, and the Exosuits in Anachrony leap to mind for components that carry other components. Also the Itemeeples of Tiny Epic Quest, and oh! The camels of Camel Up!!!

    My group has a house rule where when you pick the section of your player mat for the turn, you can forgo the top-row action and instead exchange your objective cards for 2 random new ones. You can then of course still take the bottom row.

    I really enjoyed what the air ships added to the game. My play group didn't think they really added a lot, but then I reminded them we had only used 2 of the tiles, and 1 combination, we have a lot of play left to get out of them.

    Bootleggers has little plastic trucks that hold wooden cubes (booze crates). More fiddly than anything. These airships look cool.

    Hi! Can't wait to get this expansion! I find it very different and original with so many different possibilities that add variety to the core game! You said that the Aeroships can carry a combination of workers and resources. I thought 2 workers OR 3 resources according to the rule! I know you cannot pick up workers who have resources with them. Am I correct? Thank you...

    • @jameystegmaier
      @jameystegmaier  2 роки тому

      You're correct: Airships can only carry workers or resources, not both.

      @@jameystegmaier Ok thank you! I may have one more question about the Bombard tile: when you reduce the power of your opponent by 1,3 or 5, is this loss reflected on the power truck or on the total strength used in the combat? Thanks!

    Hi !! The other day I was thinking about modular tiles board for scythe , so the map change and its never the same . And more interaction and battles for the next expansion . Is that posible?
    I love scythe . Thanks a lot for this awesome game .
    Sorry for my broken english .

    • @jameystegmaier
      @jameystegmaier  6 років тому +1

      Thanks! There are some big barriers to creating a modular board for Scythe:
      The art simply wouldn’t be nearly as cohesive if it were made of modular tiles. The Scythe board tells a story; modular hexes do not.
      The world of Scythe isn’t modular-this is a specific world we’ve built that’s based on an alternate-history 1920s Eastern Europe, not a random one generated by the players.
      The map is one of the biggest aspects of the faction-based asymmetry in the game. We’ve designed the Nordic faction’s abilities based on them starting in the north with limited access to certain resources, for example, and all factions have a mech “riverwalk” ability that correlates precisely to their homeland. Same with all the other factions.
      The board includes three tracks and several places to put cards, which allows for better organization than if these items were floating around the table.
      There’s already a lot of variability in the Scythe setup (namely, 25 different combinations of faction and player mats and tons of different objective and encounter cards).

    • @hellboy7424
      @hellboy7424 6 років тому

      Im thinking ... each modular could have more than one hex . Six or seven , for example , so the art is more cohesive and regular . Not for this game , for future ones.
      Its just an idea .

    • @sorinmarkovi

      They just recently announced a modular board! It's going to be super interesting to see how it works. I'm always impressed with what these guys do. Great idea, and I'm looking forward to see it.

  • @ExWallStreet
    @ExWallStreet 6 років тому +5

    I'm worried it weakens Nordic. Otherwise, Awesome!

    • @jameystegmaier
      @jameystegmaier  6 років тому +13

      The Nordic ability is quite different from the airship ability. With Nordic’s ability, your workers can cross rivers at any time, allowing them to go in completely different directions, establish area control, and build/deploy/produce. With airships, you can only pick up or drop off workers during the airship’s movement, and the airship can’t divide a conquer the way multiple workers can, nor can workers on airships do anything (they don’t control territories, build, deploy, produce, etc). Also, only half of the airships can carry workers.

    Bit random but I think it is of the moment. Any chance the next Expansion could not have the plastic insert (from an environmental standpoint)? Perhaps some molded card board?

    • @jameystegmaier
      @jameystegmaier  6 років тому +2

      Our top priority is protecting the miniatures for your benefit, and we believe that molded plastic is the best way to do that.

    • @brekerr
      @brekerr 6 років тому

      Jamey Stegmaier thanks for the reply (love scythe btw). Have you looked into it from the environmental side of things. I was thinking an innovative setup like yours might be well positioned to start the trend.

    • @jameystegmaier
      @jameystegmaier  6 років тому

      I try to be an environmentally contentious publishers in that we use recycled paper/cardboard and not waste cardboard and other components.

    • @brekerr
      @brekerr 6 років тому

      good to hear, perhaps as technology improves it will become easier to find alternatives to plastic inserts. I wouldn't want to see the miniatures change from plastic atm because the thing that makes plastic a pain (it lasts a stuffing long time) combined with its "plasticity" makes them perfect for miniatures that last and look good. Would be good to see them become recyclable though (I presume they are not presently). Looking forward to The Rise of Fenris.
