The consequences of this will be far reaching, for example when fuel is so expensive in poorer countries we could see deforestation on a huge scale as people scramble to burn wood for fuel.
I haven't seen much about this in the international media, in fact I haven't seen anything about it. But some good news out of Norway: The LNG plant at Melkøya which went offline in September 2020 due to a fire is coming back online in a few days.
A billion people are at risk of starvation. I've been talking about this and supply chains for the last couple weeks on my podcast, Ranching Reboot (audio only, most platforms.)
@9:00 minutes, discussion of damage from not fertilizing. This is correct, at least to some extent. I have heard from people in the golf industry that if a golf course falls into a "non-maintenance" mode, the gold course will be destroyed within a few years. That's how carefully the turf is maintained.
Why is Decouple gravitating toward the US-oriented perspective of the likes of Doomberg? One of the promises of this podcast is to build an independent Canadian perspective on energy issues, and looking to other world areas such as Europe and Asia for knowledge and inspiration about more rational paths of national development. It's difficult but necessary to free the Canadian mindset from US hegemony. Doomberg has some good data but their interests are tied to a US hegemony that is antithetical to Canadian independence.
I saw a documentary on the embargo of Germany in WW1 from 1914 to 1918 by the British Navy. Crops failed in Germany because the fertilizer could not get through the British blockad,
Obviously, EU and grain importers have gotten by this past year, but the Fat Lady is just warming up. I never ceased to be amazed at young people crying for fossil fuel usage to be immediately ended. They have no idea how their food and lives are sustained. There is a huge gap in skilled labor positions available and workers able to do these jobs. Many GenZ or Millennials are not interestedin training to do vocational work.

One of the reasons why North Korea suffers from mudslides so often is that they burn everything that they can find.
Minor quibble; there is not a single farmer anywhere that is "Splashing" RoundUp all over their farm. RoundUp is WAY too expensive to do that.
Another amazing episode, Dr. Keefer! Thank you!
