Wow! You are reading so many big books! Sounds like your reading is going well. The Spellshop! Such a fun fantasy! So glad you liked it too. And a glimpse of your cat! So cute!
@@ZoeBeck7 I may have bit off more than I can chew with so many big books at once! 😂 So glad you talked about The Spellshop. That book was so lovely. Libby the cat says thanks!
Font size---Yes, more important than number of pages. Spent this past weekend in Southern Maine--amazing beautiful. A real New England Fall. Reading an anthology of short stories by authors who live in Maine. Perfect for this weekend. Demon of Rest on my TBR after a visit to Gettysburg this summer. Vanity Fair is one I will put on by classics for 2025.
You’re reading my favourite book of 2023❤ I loved The Deluge 🥰 I’m sort of struggling. I’m doing a Shawn Mooney move of reading too many books at once , but not finishing anything. Currently in the middle of Wellness Intermezzo James Creation Lake I’m tired too. It’s cold and windy here so you’d think I’d be loving snuggling up and read. Well I am, but I keep falling asleep!
@@jacquelinemcmenamin8204 You were so right about The Deluge! It is definitely excellent! I have heard good things about all the books you are reading. Sometimes we just go through spells where we don’t make much progress. I’m feeling that this weekend!
I remember fall in the east (Ontario, Canada). I miss the colours of the leaves. The FDR sounds good, I'll have to see if I can find it. I have The Demon of Unrest, and you may have just inspired me to pick it up!
To correlate with your FDR reading, you really need to read, Madam Secretary. Such an interesting story about a very influential woman in history, but little known. I went down so many bunny trails researching books about the historical events throughout this book. ❤ I know you would love it!
Also a raspberry fan over here! I do love fresh blueberries and blackberries too, but raspberries are delightful. Very interested in The Spellshop…might have to put it on a Christmas list haha
I absolutely enjoy watching your vlogs. Want to recommend that you visit FDR’s library in upstate NY. It was the first presidential estate that I visited and I loved it ❤
The Deluge sound really interesting. I had to write a huge assignment on Vanity Fair at University many years ago. Yes it is fantastic and really worthwhile but that sort of examination and assessment put me off. I have never read it again and shy away from it altogether. I can assure you University was a long time ago so a revisit should be in order! I do love your vlogs as love to see the countryside and even your lunch! Thanks 😊
@@penelopegough6050 That makes total sense for you about Vanity Fair! It’s unfair how school ruins some books like that. Thanks for the kind words about the vlog.
Hi! You showed up in my feed for the first time today... enjoyed your content and wrote down 3 books you are reading to get for myself! To your interest in FDR.... i read No Ordinary Time by Doris Kerns Goodwin and i highly recommend for anyone with an interest in FDR or WWII. It is about the lives of the first couple as war is about to break out in Europe. There is much about Eleanor and how she spent her time and energy, and also how the relationship between FDR and Churchill came about and continued. I learned so much more about WWII than i ever knew as well as so much more about Eleanor. It is a "chunker" of a book, but truly readable!
@@carolnash5617 No Ordinary Time is on my TBR, as is a biography of Eleanor, and her collection of newspaper columns. I plan to read all of them before moving on to the next president!
Great MMBB! I am also reading Vanity Fair and really enjoying it. I will finish this weekend and Im excited to see how it ends. I thought it seemed like Dickens lite when I first started and I haven't changed my mind on that. I am interested in reading a good bio of FDR, so I may try the one you are reading. I also admire Eleanor Roosevelt so last year I read Eleanor and Franklin by Joseph Lash. It is a very thorough bio of Eleanor up to FDR's death. It is shameful how he treated her and I don't think they were a good match, but she had her way of dealing with him that worked for her. I would recommend it especially since you would understand the background of the Presidential years. Those chapters are not entirely chronological because the author chose to tell about those years more by topic. I was a bit confused at times which term the events occurred. Now I need to read the follow up bio of the last 17 years of her life.
@@LaurieInTexas vanity fair is Dickens light! Great comparison! Thanks for the info on the Lash book. I am fascinated by ER and why she put up with FDR. Such an interesting couple.
