Maybe add a raven for the new game for a villain and a twin brother who joins the cooper gang after he realizes that stealing from normal people is wrong.

Well yes; what you said of the main villains is true, I feel like the bigger connection between them as well as the other villains is reputation. All the villains of the 1st game have had backstories that revolved around how they got rejected or isolated from society which makes them differently angled mirrors to Sly when you consider how they dealt with those feelings and the personas they created to get away from them. Clockwerk is also a great example of this since his fight with Sly is about legacy, one had engineered himself into having gifts whilst the other had to fight his way to prove himself and get them back. Other characters are also involved with this theme as well like Carmelita who's a woman of rank no less who's always thwarted at every attempt to get Sly, their romance is also jinxed in the 1st game by the professions they sport. 2nd game takes this further with the villains by having them actually worm their way into high society like Rajan who's main stick was to prove to everyone of his royalty or the Contessa, a secret member of the Klaww Gang on the inside but has made it as a cop to the public. Stuff like that is also what makes these guys stand out well. 3rd game is somewhat harder to grasp with it's own theme of reputation when it comes to the villains because that game revolved around how no one is trapped by the reputations or legacies they were born with, great examples of this is how Penelope had lived her life as the Black Baron who was an undefeated champion but after finally being beaten by Sly, she was finally free to let that alter ego go in exchange for a new life working with the Cooper Gang, or how about The Panda King who's reputation was built around being a tyrant, burying villages which had costed him his daughter because Tsao was familiar with his reputation as that and wanted to use that to make his own stronger by combining the bloodlines. And speaking of Tsao, he and Lefwee had already made their reputations built around their conquests by the time you meet them in the game and of course they payed for their arrogance which sort of proves the consequences reputation has when you're so proud of it which is actually kind of the moral of the 2nd game when you think about it. After all, Sly was pretty confident about what he had accomplished in the 1st game and had enough pride in that reputation that it led to his gang's failure on many occasions like how they got thrown in jail, lost all the Clockwerk parts to Arpeggio and best of all how ridding Clockwerk for good at the end of the game led to the gang being worse off then they've ever been before. But back on Sly 3; Dr. M himself despises the Cooper Clan because of the reputation they built like Clockwerk was, most especially because the Cooper Vault had a fortune that he himself felt that he had a part in earning but was not allowed to see it, can you imagine how that must feel? You worked with this one person in order to steal as much as possible but you get nothing in return and this was something Sly had realised most likely when he made his way through the vault seeing all the loot they had earned, like what was the point of living a life of stealing from others when you can't do anything with it yourself or even share it with anyone? Which explains the showdown between him and M when Sly admits to realising all this and when he has the chance to, he then decides to give it all up, including his reputation as a thief for a life with Carmelita which is always something he knew he wanted deep down, all the while leaving his family fortune with the gang which separates their gang with the Cooper Gangs that have come before their time. That right there is of course the biggest theme I see of the series of course.
I think one of the reasons Sucker Punch focused on Sly's ancestry more than Sly himself is because, from a storytelling perspective, Sly is a blank canvas being painted on more and more through each game; his ancestors have had the time to live their lives and grow their reputation whilst Sly is still such a young Raccoon who hasn't had the time to grow that kind of reputation (outside of the great orphanage cookie jar heist). We as the player are watching him grow that reputation with each game, and so far his biggest achievement has been that he's the first member of the Cooper family to ever travel through time (or at least, as far as we know). Personally, I think it'd be cool if Sly somehow finds a way to travel to the future and ends up meeting an enemy who dedicated a large portion of their life to getting their revenge on Sly for an action he has yet to commit, and that action would have to be something unthinkable that no one would ever expect Sly to ever do.
I'd like it if Sly found out about another family of thieves. I know this video is focused on Sly's enemies but I can't help wondering what it'd be like if Sly allied up with a member of another family of thieves, another family that also had their own signature symbol (like the Cooper Family Cane but different).
So we're using plot and character ideas from DeviantArt, now? I'd rather not have a repeat of Le Paradox, who's backstory was a carbon copy of Sly's. That kind of writing isn't even excusable when a high school freshman uses it, let alone an actual game development company.
@@ShadowRaccoon54 I think you don't know what Sanzaru was trying to do with Le Paradox. The point of him could've been to parallel him with Sly seeing how we never before had a villain in the series that directly paralleled Sly. Sure we don't see much of Le Paradox until near the end of the game but what we do see of him gives us a very clear idea on his personality and what he represents and the answer to both of those questions is that Le Paradox is mainly driven by his ego. Also from what we see of his family we can assume that ego is something that runs in his family. Also if we factor in what Clockwork said in sly 1 claiming empathy being the downfall of the cooper clan then the parallel is as plain as night and day. Both family are complete opposites of each other. Sly's family is empathetic while Le Paradox's family is egotistical. I like this because not only does it make Le Paradox stand out among the other main villains in the franchise but it still ads to the theme of obsession that every main villain in the series represents.
VTNVIVI I just realized a interesting parallel between Sly and Le Paradox. In sly 1 Clockwork said that empathy was the downfall of the Cooper Clan. If that's the case then what little we see of Le Paradox and his family from his father throwing a tantrum instead of escaping too Le Paradox consistently gloating in front of Sly then the possible downfall of Le Paradox's clan could be there ego. In that case both Sly and Le Paradox are almost exact opposites. An example would be how they both treat there teammates, Sly looks at his team as both his friends and his family while Le Paradox looks at his team as just pawns.
I would do a sequels with Sucker punch as Co director (if they have the time) with his father that he survived, cockworks return, and other characters, like panda King, dimitri etc.
Wow, that angle on if a higher up in interpol putting a hit on Sly because of the simple nature of him being a criminal & then Carmelita going through turmoil on what limits she'll go for her career and/or her heart - that plot that would blow me away 😮
This was really good to know, Vivi! As for the minor villains (e.g. Mz. Ruby, Rajan, General Tsao, El Jefe, etc.), I have been wondering what *they* would have in common, even if it's apart from the main villains (Clockwerk, Neyla/Clock-La, Dr. M, and Le Paradox).
@@VtnVivi I can image that too... but the three villainous organizations would not be the same as they were earlier. Fiendish Five: Clockwerk is dead and the Panda King is retired, so the gang would ultimately become the "Threatening Three". Given Raleigh's status as the chief machinist, he might become the leader, similarly to how Arpeggio was the chief inventor and leader of the Klaww Gang. Klaww Gang: Dimitri works for the Cooper Gang and also is the star of "Disco Diver", so he can't return. Arpeggio and Neyla are both dead. Rajan would most likely become the leader. It might be hard to get Jean Bison back because he is frozen. Le Paradox's Gang: Toothpick became stranded in the past and was killed in a train accident. If they continued to try and kill the Cooper legacy, Le Paradox himself would have to: 1. go after a cane or 2. send fewer gang members.
i'd love a villain with the right motives and for them to be a complex character, maybe a genuinely likable villain. a villain that could make you question if sly cooper's motives are good.

I had no problem with Arpeggio's backstory/motive, but I think that Sucker Punch butchered him as a character in Chapter 8. They killed him off too quickly, and I think that Neyla becoming "Clock-La" was not the greatest idea. But this was an interesting video for sure, as always! :)
I've said this before on a previous video, but I'll say it again since the topic is being brought up: I'm all for exploring Clockwerk's past and the reasoning behind his hatred towards the Cooper clan, but he can't come back from the dead to be a villain in the present. No ifs, ands or buts. That out of the way, I have also been saying that the Sly franchise needs a new villain that has nothing to do with Sly's past or in any way associated with the Coopers because as we saw with Sly 4, they are scraping the bottom of the barrel to come up with villain motivations against Sly. We need something fresh and engaging, something really threatening to make the stakes feel high like they were in Sly 2. After all, a story is only as good as its villain.
I've said it before and I'll say it again the reason why Clock Works hatred for the Coopers was because of Slytunkhamen II he stopped clockwork from killing one of the great pharaohs of Egypt and taking the throne for himself Clockwork was understandably pissed and of course Clockwork swore Revenge.
But how does that tie in to Clockwerk wanting to be the greatest master thief? What you just described kinda sounds like the plot of Assassin's Creed: Origins.

If all the villains (well some of them) are still alive, they can even defeat Sly and the cooper gang. I mean one of the villains do have a grudge agent Sly cooper ancestors I can't argue with that. Even Penelope have a grudge with Sly and his "honorable thief stuff" because Bentley wanted to defend for his family rights and legacy as well. So now Penelope have a grudge not only with Sly and the cooper gang but is family as well. She should be the main villain for the 5th Sly cooper installment (if that game ever happens that is😒). And since she have the time machine plans from Bentley she can go back in time to get all the villains (including clockwork of course) and maybe go after Sly's other ancestors that haven't been in the 4th installment or use them as a army to destroy Sly and is gang. If Sly ever escaped Egypt he will need an army of all world class thieves (including Panda King and the guru from the third one as playable characters) and his ancestors. Now that will be a great final boss fight for the 5th and final installment for the series in my book.
New idea. So Bentley is a genius and I heard in one video he wondered away from his siblings. That’s y he ended up in the orphanage. So what if one of his siblings become interpol intelligence guys or something. Or maybe give an explanation to Murray’s back story. Idk. I feel like that might not work cuz we already had several times to shine on Bentley (sly 2) sly 3 and sly 4. So maybe back story on Carmelita. Or maybe something where she has to choose her job/ career and sly and the gang.
Honestly don't lose hope in Sly Cooper. Maybe if we create a page for it and gather fans of the game and fr try and talk about it and make game ideas maybe we can get the creators attention.

Honestly I personally quite like arpeggio as a villain, he had potential and his main plan was solid, however the game barely shows much of him and boots him out of the plot in favour for the clock-la ending, it makes arpeggio feel more like a plot device than a character, which is a shame because they even gave him a backstory but didn’t even have a boss fight, if you’re barely going to use arpeggio who could have just given the backstory cutscene to clockwerk
Do you have any theory of Dimitri's family? There was twitch streamer who played all 3 sly games and I figured something out I never payed attention! During cutscene Dimitri tells his Backstory of his grandfather Reme Lousteau who robbed sunked ships until Black Dot Pete stole his treasure and Scuba diving gadgets. Then we see Picture of his family portrait. We see Him with his wife, young Dimitri with his mother and baby sister...but where is father? Dimitri's mother doesn't seem confortable at all (maybe because her hosbind is missing) in that picture so I believe something happened to him. It's hard to say because there is lack of backstory of his father but I just noticed that he is missing
I’ve come to not actually count Thieves in Time due to it’s odd writing and inconsistencies, but I agree with you on Clockwerk, Neyla and Dr. M. I thought that Arpeggio was good as a character, my issue was his death. Maybe when Neyla enters the Clock-La frame, Arpeggio survives and is taken prisoner by the Cooper Gang, whom they use for information to do the missions to take out the engines. And during the final bit Arpeggio somehow comes into play before he either actually dies or is arrested by Carmelita.
I think a new person in the police force as a villain would call back to Neyla and the Countess too much. Perhaps (Since Sly is stuck in ancient Egypt) we get revolutionary. What if the character we control isn't Sly, but rather Slytunkhamen, his Egyptian ancestor? We don't know any ancestors before him (outside of Bob), and that could be because he was the first real "master thief" of the Cooper clan. Imagine having Sly not as the player, but the mentor guiding Slytunkhamen to becoming a master thief? We'd see the advent of the Thevius Racoonus, and a new place to spark characters off of. This would allow for a personal connection to whatever villain comes about, as Sly doesn't really know anyone back then yet.
I like the idea of a new Interpol and Forster coming in, but I’m not so sure how clockwork was feeling they destroyed the ship that was it unless there was some kind of like hidden agenda or a back up for clockwork. I’m not sure how they would explain, bring him back he could be an excellent villain I mean he was the first want to start at all.
you know it's funny, long before sly 4 came out there were theories going around saying that clockwork could've returned in that game and somehow survived because a part of him wasn't killed off in sly 2? that would've been really interesting I think?
What Clockwerk, Le Paradox, and Dr. M have in common is that they have jealousy and hatred over the Coopers and they wanted to defeat Sly: Clockwerk ripped the pages of the Thievius Raccoonus to destroy Sly's Family Legacy, Le Paradox travels to the past to steal Sly's Ancestor's canes to be a better thief and he can be better than Sly, and Dr. M hates Sly's Dad. What I want to see in the Sly Cooper TV Show and Reboot Game is having each story arc for Clockwerk, Le Paradox, and Dr. M and side missions in the Sly Cooper Reboot Game so we can expand a reimagining backstory for these villains. What I mention about Neyla returning in Sly 5 and you didn't like the idea of her returning, I would say that we should also get the Neyla and Arpeggio Arc in the TV Show to expand their chemistry and a Side Mission for Neyla and Arpeggio in the Reboot Game as a DLC or maybe a final boss, whichever is possible for Neyla and Arpeggio to debut in the Reboot Game. I really wish that we can get villains that hate Bentley and Murray.
You know what I thought of? Imagine Sly going back in time and killing Clockwork before his father dies. But then he never would have met Bentley and Murray. So as a very final game for the series, you as the player could choose, kill Clockwork, or spare him. The series can’t go on forever. I think this would be a good ending. Choose between his friends or his father. Who would he rather be with?
Sly 5 should start off as sly running from the cops and hes surrounded on the edge of a rooftop, carmalita is there pretending to chase him down for the sake of her job. Theres no way to escape except jump off for sly... So carmilita has to make the hardest decision and either shoot sly and arrest him, or take his side and protect him. Instead sly decides to jump and ends up faking his death. The whole world thinks the sly family is terminated and spares carmilita into making the hardest decision of her career. So some of slys old enemies and new enemies emerge as sly lowkey takes them down throughout the game, and as the game moves on carmalita has to decide if she wants to keep being a cop or join the cooper gang as she starts finding out slys alive. Its the ultimate sly cooper move by faking his death, and I think its completely different than the other games. Its a little twist. My take on it.
The villain that takes over Interpol has been put into a really good fanfic. Check out Eika Prime's archive where they put together a whole sly 5 game.
I can see what you mean, and it would be a nice change to have the antagonist act differently. But I have an idea; Have they considered going with an ironic twist--a Cooper betraying his/her line or blackmailed to do so? That's what I went for when I created an OC or two; The vampire twins Wilhelmina "Mina" Van Cooper and her brother Abraham Van Cooper (Mina being the thief and Abe being the inventor like his dad).

Especially if the brother is a burly giant with a very high voice (think Pica from One Piece as an example of that.). If you couldn't tell, the twins (my creation) are the OC kids of Otto Van Cooper, the technologically minded Cooper.
Well I have nothing to say, you just take me all the words from my mouth and say it ! I love the idea of having "normal" trouble and not "because family" situation. There are so much possibilities : - Like having a worldwide mafia gang that wants to kill Sly/the gang because he/they know something "secret" - Having "normal" trouble with the police : I can't stop thinking about a completly absurd Mexican standoff when every police forces (and Carmelita of course) comes in the same time at the same location trying to arrest Sly in the same time, a bit like the Barry Seal movie, if you know the movie. Or even a even more absurd police chase like the Blues Brothers/Taxi 2 one - We can focus more on some little details, like the daily life, how they live, ... - More realistics scenarios, with less false fittings (like little scene when, for example the level boss is defeated,having more background of what's happening in a short time, (court, ...) Or even seeing Carmelita making her mission report at the end of each level, ... I got a lot of ideas on this subject, it's really interesting and relevant, I can talk on it hours and hours And as always great video, I don't think I need to say it anymore 😂
Morator (cut bat character) becomes the police chief of interpol and just wants sly dead because hes a thief and he sees sly the wrong way Wile slys in Egypt, mortamor threatens carmaleta to hunt sly down and have him thrown in jail (and dead) or else she will get a life (or death) sentence Dimitri hears this and tells panda king and bently and murry Near the end sly gets shot and killed by mortamor starts trying to take over the world and its a final battle with carmaleta, Dimitri and panda king Phase 2 is where mortamor goes full antasma and grows twice the size of clockwerk(also sly get revived) and the trio have to take him out sonic heroes style
I always thought a new Sly game should move away from villains upset with Sly specifically and deal with the legacies of the other characters. What if the villains were Bentley’s parents, and it’s revealed that they’re terrible criminals so Bentley ended up at the orphanage because they went to prison. And now they’ve found out where Bentley is and want him on their side.
Very true, a return of Clockwerk would be Ideal in one avenue. It colud even be a double return with Neeyla since she was merging with Clockwerk. They could both come back in a new body "Clockwerk reimagined" while they both now want revenge on just Sly, and to do that they hire assassins or bounty hunters or set someone up inside Interpol to keep an eye on Carmelita in the event Sly returns some how. Or, as you said a cop or a bounty hunter that has a sketchy reputation of sorts regarding criminals he/she catches. Side note, we actually DO know where Clockwerk is from if you pay attention to Sly's Ice Age ancestor. the egg he stole was from Clockwerk's nest and that Clockwerk got itself "robotisized" by chance thus gaining knowledge that lead to the Clockwerk we know and hate/love.
@@VtnVivi forget about that time travel aspect of Sly 4? Grizz brought the technology with him didn't he? When Paradox sent him into 10,000 B.C. to deal with "Ice Age Cooper" right? So if Clockwerk found Grizz's base then stumbled on how that tech work then he could learn English over the centuries that he had lived wouldn't he?

Clockwerk may be a good idea to appear again in the next games.But I think they will not do that since Clockwerk has already appeared in 2 games(1 and 2). Also in 2 it said that Clockwerk died forever since they have destroyed the main chip
To be honest I had the same idea , want to see a sly game where the main antagonists is not a thief but a police , a twisted mind police if you will , and maybe have panda king and guru help sly I miss playing as them . or a game where the main antagonists is someone who hate not sly but maybe carmelita fox , a thief who hate her or a jealous police officer .
From what I can see from the villains, the main ones nonetheless... The mainline is Ancestry or Legacy. Clockwork has envy for the whole Clan Arpeggio wants to be recognized and be in attention Neyla Wanted to be remembered and remove herself from remembering her bad past. Dr. M feels that his history and service with Sly's father has his right to enjoy the riches they have gone through. LeParadox wants to change his family history, by destroying the Cooper History.
How about a Red-panda who uses fake magic and a made up game known as the dark games that was made by the King of Darkness, his name is Kyoya (who is Japanese) and he wears a Japanese straw hat, and other Japanese clothing, and he is creepy. He uses props to scare people to either take their money or treasure, or (in my episode) Pierre hires Kyoya to try and scare Sly Cooper so bad that Sly would have no choice but to turn himself in. In the later part of the story, Sly figures out that Kyoya was a fraud, but as Kyoya tries to escape, the dark games become a reality, the real Dark King rises as black slug and possesses Kyoya and makes sure Sly doesn't escape the game. When Sly defeats Kyoya, Kyoya get dragged into the dark slug, and his final words was, "THIS... THIS CAN'T POSSIBLE!!! SO THE DARK GAMES, ARE ACTUALLY REAL!!?" and he is never seen again. Until he was brought back by a powerful god and was told to take out Carmelita, now with the powers of the real dark games he challenges Carmelita in the game. Summary Kyoya loses to Carmelita, and is dragged back into the dark slug and screams in agony, "NO, NO, I DON'T WANT TO!!! I DON'T WANT TO GO BACK INTO THE DARKNESS!!! PLEASE!!! SOMEONE!!! HELP ME!!!" He tries to reach out his hand for help, before he is gone forever. Two appearances he makes, and he might leave shivers down to your spine.
What if the new antagonist is from Interpol and really despises Sly Cooper so much that he or she works with the criminals to get Sly killed. This character is a dirty cop, but still uses all of Interpol's resources to hide his or her tracks. Let's go one step further, what if this antagonist wanted Sly Cooper dead not because he is Sly Cooper, but that he is the same flesh and blood as their own. In other words, this new antagonist is also a Cooper, but it's not mention until the end of the story. This character would be like a half-brother or sister that felt like they should have been the next air to the Cooper legacy.
I was always curious wtf happened between Connor cooper and dr M. Like damn y’all were teammates but u somehow ended up developing this much resentment? Mr cooper… wtf did u do? For all we know Dr M could genuinely be a victim to where his anger is justified. We don’t know
I thought it was funny When you said that Clockwork should come back just to annoy Sly, I can already picture how that interaction would go. In all seriousness though I would love a game that doesn’t feature a villain with a grudge against Sly’s father I do think there are other areas of Sly’s past they could explore if they still want to go down that road, like maybe they could do something related to the orphanage sly grew up in, or they could put more of a focus on Sly’s friendship with Bentley and Murray and have a villain that tries to drive a wedge between the 3 of them or even introduce a villain related to Bentley and/or Murray’s past that could be interesting. If they really do want to keep with the theme of Sly’s father then I say just give him his own game that explores his past and what happened between him and Dr. M, but before any of this can happen first we need to get Sly out of Egypt.
I'd love a game where we dive even deper into Sly's frienship with Murray and Bentley. Remember, Bentley had doubt in the Cooper Vault regarding Sly....
Now when I think about it, one of the common things that they all have in common is, craving absolute power! Going further Clockwork wanted to show power over the Cooper Clan, by stealing the Thievius Raccoonus, and completely wiping out their lineage, but Sly defeated him. 2 Arpeggio wanted power through immortality, to live forever, and have the world under his control, and have power over the minds of the world, but then Neyla got greedy and wanted that power all to herself, which prove futile, seeing her fate. 3 DR. M wanted to steal the Wealth from the Cooper Vault, after all those years helping to gather them up, having believed they rightfully belong to him, never understanding that Conner wasn't being selfish, the Man was just simply preserving his family's History! Believing one day, Sly would get to see, not only the riches of his family, but the history of how it all started. The Cooper Vault rightfully belongs to the Coopers, not anyone outside the Clan Lastly 4 LA Paradox also, like Clockwork, wanted to prove his Superiority over the Cooper Clan, by stealing their Canes, and getting revenge for his family name, and also believing their Canes was the only thing that made them thieves, not knowing a Cane doesn't make a Cooper a good thief, but it's what that Cooper does with, or without that Cane that makes him or her a great thief! Having failed, and realize that in the end, his mission for revenge prove pathetic, and utterly flawed. In the end they died as they lived. Fools But that's my opinion on them.
Yeah, i do think they could bring in something different for Sly in the next inevitable installment, wouldn't hurt to try. Still i do think that having a Sly game with time travel could be handled better than Thieves in time, like the idea you have to explore the present version of location and see it corrupted by the bad guys time traveling to the past to take advantage of it and the more you change in the past, the better the future would become, even getting to the point of saying there's something blocking your path in the present, well be going to the past and you remove it entirely allowing you to progress and also i wouldn't mind seeing Carmilita Fox starring spin off to promote Sly 5, to demonstrate what the main series next installment could look like, plus we have never seen much from Carmilita's point of view, so the idea of her having some character development, in a post Sly is missing world, that she would for once have to hold her own and not rely on others to save her and yeah allowing her to do her cop duties and inspect stuff and solve/bust crime. Even having her boss being like J Jonah Jamison, Peter Parker's boss from Spider-Man would be pretty great and just looking at the few times we see the guy, i think it fits. If Sly were that big of a franchise, a Carmelita spin-off would've been a very welcomed edition. But, seeing as how the Sly series is pretty underrated, it'd be hard to attract an audience not to mention a bit riskier. You do bring up very good points!
@@VtnVivi Yeah, i will say that if the previous Sly games were ported over to modern systems and as well as Sony themselves saying it's there if you want it, basically to try and get them to sell well. That once you have this strong audience for Sly by doing remasters and etc, then yeah a Carmilita Fox spin off could work and sell, plus they could sell it and outright say it's a Sly Cooper spin off in a way to sell it, plus doing enough stuff to sell it, like get people hyped like with other projects like Uncharted 2 for example it sold well cause they showed it off in a wild and positive light, like showing off what they could do with the engine stuff like the Scene which Drake and his partner was in a gunfight trying to also escape a collapsing building they are in of which still to this day was one of the best parts of Uncharted 2, don't get me started on the train part. Which looking at Sly 4, it didn't get that luxury and almost everytime that Sanzaru/Sony showed it off it was in either in rough shape or just had some bad design decisions that turned people off, but Sanzaru did save it at the end in it's release and all those roughness was gone, not to mention there was other projects that dwarfed it in comparison like Battlefield 4 which had that technical showcase with the ridiculous means of destruction which didn't function well at launch, not to mention Sony with Sly 2 back in the day they nailed it with marketing and did a lot of awesome showcases for the project, with it trying to capture the feel of a Heist Movie, which they nailed quite well when the game released, so yeah if Sony could market it as well as other successes like Uncharted and whatever from the past then yes, they could get back that multimillion success they once had.

Also there is Clockwerk's brain, Arpeggio had the brain at one point but sold it because he didn't need it. Who knows where that brain is? The only problem is that no one seems to talk about Clockwerk's brain and just talk about how to bring him back or something like that?
Yeah. The series REALLY needs a fresh coat of paint and some new direction. To me, Sly 4 isn't even canon due to how ridiculous the story plot is, too much attention to the Cooper line, and how it keeps trying to force the Carmelita and Sly ship down our throats and that's not even beginning to touch the subject how and why Sly got away with being 'Constable Cooper' in the first place due to what happened in Sly 2. This franchise has so much potential to dive right into Bentley's, Murray's and even Carmelita's past before Sly came along yet all of it completely revolves around him and keeps them in such a limited box that merely keeps them as plot devices rather than characters. You got Mugshot, a recurring and entertaining villain to use yet he is completely underutilized despite constantly popping up and still causing trouble in the series. But the Interpol enforcer story and having Carmelita make the hard choice? We've already had that in Sly 2 with Neyla as the 'enforcer' and Carmelita choose her job over everything else! She was sympathetic but she wasn't gonna go rogue for Sly for ANY reason. That's kinda how we got the fake amnesia bit in the first place with the ending in Sly 3 and how Carmelita gave Sly a new identity to suit HER life but not his. He had to sacrifice EVERYTHING, even his own friends/family, to be with Carmelita. You don't find that messed up to do especially with how much the Cooper legacy meant to Sly and how miserable he looked having a normal life and the only time we saw him smile and be happy was when he was pulling heists and basically...being himself? Carmelita and Sly are awesome characters but these two work better apart than together.
What will happen villain will back to life? Something about the requiem villain none like the title Sly Cooper 5: The Requiem Clockwerk or something about Le Paradox did to Sly in Sly 4.
Raven I actually found a good fanfic That connects the 4th game to the 3 other games and this 5th one called line of thieves. It goes into detail on how clockwork was in the ice age and why Penelope betrayed them in detail
How come no one ever talks about the most underrated character in the series and is a detective in Interpol, Pierre Winthorp. Like I said before he is a detective in Interpol, but also has feelings towards Carmelita, but he isn't very confident to tell her. If he was in a Sly game, he would probably try to catch Sly Cooper just to impress Carmelita. But I like to think Pierre isn't the smartest person in Interpol, how I would see this. (Sly Cooper disguised as a bystander, and Pierre and runs up to Sly and cuffs him) Pierre: Ah Ha! I finally caught you Sly Cooper! I can finally impress Carmelita now that I have caught the greatest thief in the world! (Sly takes off his disguise, but gives Pierre a smirk) (Pierre gets confused and asks) Pierre: Um... Wait? You are Sly Cooper, right? Sly: Well Sly was given to me by my mother, but my last name is Dooper. Pierre: DAH!!! I WAS SO CLOSE!!! HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT!!? COOPER, DOOPER, THEY BOTH SOUND THE SAME!!! (As Pierre was distracted by his mistake, Sly manages to take off the cuffs and escapes)
This is gonna sound so weird but something else I’ve noticed that sly 3 is the only game in the series without a female villain. I mean unless you count Penelope disguised as the black baron but it doesn’t qualify to me as much because you don’t see the twist coming. You get what I’m saying right vivi?
I feel like you would need to target the people that sly is really close to (for example Bentley and Murray ) or just make it personal somehow so he’s continue to steal and do what he does. the reason they always tie everything to the cooper legacy is because that’s the easiest thing to get him to motivate to continue to steal take down every one that he need to. An example of this is thieves in time cause sly didn’t have a motivation to go back to stealing until Bentley showed up and told him what was up with the book. So if your just gonna focus on sly’s legacy and not the entire cooper legacy then it should be personal.....sorry if I am not making any sense or I lost my point but yea and on a side note if they do tackle his past all I want to know is how did his father learn how to grind and walk on laser just saying we need more laser walking and laser grinding

Well yes; what you said of the main villains is true, I feel like the bigger connection between them as well as the other villains is reputation. All the villains of the 1st game have had backstories that revolved around how they got rejected or isolated from society which makes them differently angled mirrors to Sly when you consider how they dealt with those feelings and the personas they created to get away from them. Clockwerk is also a great example of this since his fight with Sly is about legacy, one had engineered himself into having gifts whilst the other had to fight his way to prove himself and get them back. Other characters are also involved with this theme as well like Carmelita who's a woman of rank no less who's always thwarted at every attempt to get Sly, their romance is also jinxed in the 1st game by the professions they sport. 2nd game takes this further with the villains by having them actually worm their way into high society like Rajan who's main stick was to prove to everyone of his royalty or the Contessa, a secret member of the Klaww Gang on the inside but has made it as a cop to the public. Stuff like that is also what makes these guys stand out well. 3rd game is somewhat harder to grasp with it's own theme of reputation when it comes to the villains because that game revolved around how no one is trapped by the reputations or legacies they were born with, great examples of this is how Penelope had lived her life as the Black Baron who was an undefeated champion but after finally being beaten by Sly, she was finally free to let that alter ego go in exchange for a new life working with the Cooper Gang, or how about The Panda King who's reputation was built around being a tyrant, burying villages which had costed him his daughter because Tsao was familiar with his reputation as that and wanted to use that to make his own stronger by combining the bloodlines. And speaking of Tsao, he and Lefwee had already made their reputations built around their conquests by the time you meet them in the game and of course they payed for their arrogance which sort of proves the consequences reputation has when you're so proud of it which is actually kind of the moral of the 2nd game when you think about it. After all, Sly was pretty confident about what he had accomplished in the 1st game and had enough pride in that reputation that it led to his gang's failure on many occasions like how they got thrown in jail, lost all the Clockwerk parts to Arpeggio and best of all how ridding Clockwerk for good at the end of the game led to the gang being worse off then they've ever been before. But back on Sly 3; Dr. M himself despises the Cooper Clan because of the reputation they built like Clockwerk was, most especially because the Cooper Vault had a fortune that he himself felt that he had a part in earning but was not allowed to see it, can you imagine how that must feel? You worked with this one person in order to steal as much as possible but you get nothing in return and this was something Sly had realised most likely when he made his way through the vault seeing all the loot they had earned, like what was the point of living a life of stealing from others when you can't do anything with it yourself or even share it with anyone? Which explains the showdown between him and M when Sly admits to realising all this and when he has the chance to, he then decides to give it all up, including his reputation as a thief for a life with Carmelita which is always something he knew he wanted deep down, all the while leaving his family fortune with the gang which separates their gang with the Cooper Gangs that have come before their time. That right there is of course the biggest theme I see of the series of course.

I think one of the reasons Sucker Punch focused on Sly's ancestry more than Sly himself is because, from a storytelling perspective, Sly is a blank canvas being painted on more and more through each game; his ancestors have had the time to live their lives and grow their reputation whilst Sly is still such a young Raccoon who hasn't had the time to grow that kind of reputation (outside of the great orphanage cookie jar heist). We as the player are watching him grow that reputation with each game, and so far his biggest achievement has been that he's the first member of the Cooper family to ever travel through time (or at least, as far as we know).
Personally, I think it'd be cool if Sly somehow finds a way to travel to the future and ends up meeting an enemy who dedicated a large portion of their life to getting their revenge on Sly for an action he has yet to commit, and that action would have to be something unthinkable that no one would ever expect Sly to ever do.

I know this video is focused on Sly's enemies but I can't help wondering what it'd be like if Sly allied up with a member of another family of thieves, another family that also had their own signature symbol (like the Cooper Family Cane but different).

So we're using plot and character ideas from DeviantArt, now? I'd rather not have a repeat of Le Paradox, who's backstory was a carbon copy of Sly's. That kind of writing isn't even excusable when a high school freshman uses it, let alone an actual game development company.
@@ShadowRaccoon54 I think you don't know what Sanzaru was trying to do with Le Paradox. The point of him could've been to parallel him with Sly seeing how we never before had a villain in the series that directly paralleled Sly. Sure we don't see much of Le Paradox until near the end of the game but what we do see of him gives us a very clear idea on his personality and what he represents and the answer to both of those questions is that Le Paradox is mainly driven by his ego. Also from what we see of his family we can assume that ego is something that runs in his family. Also if we factor in what Clockwork said in sly 1 claiming empathy being the downfall of the cooper clan then the parallel is as plain as night and day. Both family are complete opposites of each other. Sly's family is empathetic while Le Paradox's family is egotistical. I like this because not only does it make Le Paradox stand out among the other main villains in the franchise but it still ads to the theme of obsession that every main villain in the series represents.

VTNVIVI I just realized a interesting parallel between Sly and Le Paradox. In sly 1 Clockwork said that empathy was the downfall of the Cooper Clan. If that's the case then what little we see of Le Paradox and his family from his father throwing a tantrum instead of escaping too Le Paradox consistently gloating in front of Sly then the possible downfall of Le Paradox's clan could be there ego. In that case both Sly and Le Paradox are almost exact opposites. An example would be how they both treat there teammates, Sly looks at his team as both his friends and his family while Le Paradox looks at his team as just pawns.

This was really good to know, Vivi! As for the minor villains (e.g. Mz. Ruby, Rajan, General Tsao, El Jefe, etc.), I have been wondering what *they* would have in common, even if it's apart from the main villains (Clockwerk, Neyla/Clock-La, Dr. M, and Le Paradox).
I'd imagine a huge prison break scenario, where Sly's old enemies would group up again.

Fiendish Five: Clockwerk is dead and the Panda King is retired, so the gang would ultimately become the "Threatening Three". Given Raleigh's status as the chief machinist, he might become the leader, similarly to how Arpeggio was the chief inventor and leader of the Klaww Gang.
Klaww Gang: Dimitri works for the Cooper Gang and also is the star of "Disco Diver", so he can't return. Arpeggio and Neyla are both dead. Rajan would most likely become the leader. It might be hard to get Jean Bison back because he is frozen.
Le Paradox's Gang: Toothpick became stranded in the past and was killed in a train accident. If they continued to try and kill the Cooper legacy, Le Paradox himself would have to: 1. go after a cane or 2. send fewer gang members.
i'd love a villain with the right motives and for them to be a complex character, maybe a genuinely likable villain. a villain that could make you question if sly cooper's motives are good.

I had no problem with Arpeggio's backstory/motive, but I think that Sucker Punch butchered him as a character in Chapter 8.
They killed him off too quickly, and I think that Neyla becoming "Clock-La" was not the greatest idea.

I've said this before on a previous video, but I'll say it again since the topic is being brought up: I'm all for exploring Clockwerk's past and the reasoning behind his hatred towards the Cooper clan, but he can't come back from the dead to be a villain in the present. No ifs, ands or buts. That out of the way, I have also been saying that the Sly franchise needs a new villain that has nothing to do with Sly's past or in any way associated with the Coopers because as we saw with Sly 4, they are scraping the bottom of the barrel to come up with villain motivations against Sly. We need something fresh and engaging, something really threatening to make the stakes feel high like they were in Sly 2. After all, a story is only as good as its villain.

I've said it before and I'll say it again the reason why Clock Works hatred for the Coopers was because of Slytunkhamen II he stopped clockwork from killing one of the great pharaohs of Egypt and taking the throne for himself Clockwork was understandably pissed and of course Clockwork swore Revenge.
But how does that tie in to Clockwerk wanting to be the greatest master thief? What you just described kinda sounds like the plot of Assassin's Creed: Origins.

If all the villains (well some of them) are still alive, they can even defeat Sly and the cooper gang. I mean one of the villains do have a grudge agent Sly cooper ancestors I can't argue with that. Even Penelope have a grudge with Sly and his "honorable thief stuff" because Bentley wanted to defend for his family rights and legacy as well. So now Penelope have a grudge not only with Sly and the cooper gang but is family as well. She should be the main villain for the 5th Sly cooper installment (if that game ever happens that is😒). And since she have the time machine plans from Bentley she can go back in time to get all the villains (including clockwork of course) and maybe go after Sly's other ancestors that haven't been in the 4th installment or use them as a army to destroy Sly and is gang. If Sly ever escaped Egypt he will need an army of all world class thieves (including Panda King and the guru from the third one as playable characters) and his ancestors. Now that will be a great final boss fight for the 5th and final installment for the series in my book.

New idea. So Bentley is a genius and I heard in one video he wondered away from his siblings. That’s y he ended up in the orphanage. So what if one of his siblings become interpol intelligence guys or something. Or maybe give an explanation to Murray’s back story. Idk. I feel like that might not work cuz we already had several times to shine on Bentley (sly 2) sly 3 and sly 4. So maybe back story on Carmelita. Or maybe something where she has to choose her job/ career and sly and the gang.
Honestly don't lose hope in Sly Cooper. Maybe if we create a page for it and gather fans of the game and fr try and talk about it and make game ideas maybe we can get the creators attention.

Honestly I personally quite like arpeggio as a villain, he had potential and his main plan was solid, however the game barely shows much of him and boots him out of the plot in favour for the clock-la ending, it makes arpeggio feel more like a plot device than a character, which is a shame because they even gave him a backstory but didn’t even have a boss fight, if you’re barely going to use arpeggio who could have just given the backstory cutscene to clockwerk

Do you have any theory of Dimitri's family? There was twitch streamer who played all 3 sly games and I figured something out I never payed attention! During cutscene Dimitri tells his Backstory of his grandfather Reme Lousteau who robbed sunked ships until Black Dot Pete stole his treasure and Scuba diving gadgets. Then we see Picture of his family portrait. We see Him with his wife, young Dimitri with his mother and baby sister...but where is father? Dimitri's mother doesn't seem confortable at all (maybe because her hosbind is missing) in that picture so I believe something happened to him. It's hard to say because there is lack of backstory of his father but I just noticed that he is missing

I’ve come to not actually count Thieves in Time due to it’s odd writing and inconsistencies, but I agree with you on Clockwerk, Neyla and Dr. M.
I thought that Arpeggio was good as a character, my issue was his death. Maybe when Neyla enters the Clock-La frame, Arpeggio survives and is taken prisoner by the Cooper Gang, whom they use for information to do the missions to take out the engines. And during the final bit Arpeggio somehow comes into play before he either actually dies or is arrested by Carmelita.
Yeah that twist with Neyla got me all confused.
I think a new person in the police force as a villain would call back to Neyla and the Countess too much. Perhaps (Since Sly is stuck in ancient Egypt) we get revolutionary. What if the character we control isn't Sly, but rather Slytunkhamen, his Egyptian ancestor? We don't know any ancestors before him (outside of Bob), and that could be because he was the first real "master thief" of the Cooper clan. Imagine having Sly not as the player, but the mentor guiding Slytunkhamen to becoming a master thief? We'd see the advent of the Thevius Racoonus, and a new place to spark characters off of. This would allow for a personal connection to whatever villain comes about, as Sly doesn't really know anyone back then yet.
I like the idea of a new Interpol and Forster coming in, but I’m not so sure how clockwork was feeling they destroyed the ship that was it unless there was some kind of like hidden agenda or a back up for clockwork. I’m not sure how they would explain, bring him back he could be an excellent villain I mean he was the first want to start at all.

What Clockwerk, Le Paradox, and Dr. M have in common is that they have jealousy and hatred over the Coopers and they wanted to defeat Sly: Clockwerk ripped the pages of the Thievius Raccoonus to destroy Sly's Family Legacy, Le Paradox travels to the past to steal Sly's Ancestor's canes to be a better thief and he can be better than Sly, and Dr. M hates Sly's Dad. What I want to see in the Sly Cooper TV Show and Reboot Game is having each story arc for Clockwerk, Le Paradox, and Dr. M and side missions in the Sly Cooper Reboot Game so we can expand a reimagining backstory for these villains. What I mention about Neyla returning in Sly 5 and you didn't like the idea of her returning, I would say that we should also get the Neyla and Arpeggio Arc in the TV Show to expand their chemistry and a Side Mission for Neyla and Arpeggio in the Reboot Game as a DLC or maybe a final boss, whichever is possible for Neyla and Arpeggio to debut in the Reboot Game. I really wish that we can get villains that hate Bentley and Murray.

You know what I thought of? Imagine Sly going back in time and killing Clockwork before his father dies. But then he never would have met Bentley and Murray. So as a very final game for the series, you as the player could choose, kill Clockwork, or spare him. The series can’t go on forever. I think this would be a good ending. Choose between his friends or his father. Who would he rather be with?

Sly 5 should start off as sly running from the cops and hes surrounded on the edge of a rooftop, carmalita is there pretending to chase him down for the sake of her job. Theres no way to escape except jump off for sly... So carmilita has to make the hardest decision and either shoot sly and arrest him, or take his side and protect him. Instead sly decides to jump and ends up faking his death. The whole world thinks the sly family is terminated and spares carmilita into making the hardest decision of her career. So some of slys old enemies and new enemies emerge as sly lowkey takes them down throughout the game, and as the game moves on carmalita has to decide if she wants to keep being a cop or join the cooper gang as she starts finding out slys alive. Its the ultimate sly cooper move by faking his death, and I think its completely different than the other games. Its a little twist. My take on it.

I can see what you mean, and it would be a nice change to have the antagonist act differently. But I have an idea; Have they considered going with an ironic twist--a Cooper betraying his/her line or blackmailed to do so? That's what I went for when I created an OC or two; The vampire twins Wilhelmina "Mina" Van Cooper and her brother Abraham Van Cooper (Mina being the thief and Abe being the inventor like his dad).
I always imagined a certain Cooper line consisting of siblings, the sister or brother betraying the family.

Especially if the brother is a burly giant with a very high voice (think Pica from One Piece as an example of that.). If you couldn't tell, the twins (my creation) are the OC kids of Otto Van Cooper, the technologically minded Cooper.

I love the idea of having "normal" trouble and not "because family" situation. There are so much possibilities :
- Like having a worldwide mafia gang that wants to kill Sly/the gang because he/they know something "secret"
- Having "normal" trouble with the police : I can't stop thinking about a completly absurd Mexican standoff when every police forces (and Carmelita of course) comes in the same time at the same location trying to arrest Sly in the same time, a bit like the Barry Seal movie, if you know the movie. Or even a even more absurd police chase like the Blues Brothers/Taxi 2 one
- We can focus more on some little details, like the daily life, how they live, ...
- More realistics scenarios, with less false fittings (like little scene when, for example the level boss is defeated,having more background of what's happening in a short time, (court, ...) Or even seeing Carmelita making her mission report at the end of each level, ...
I got a lot of ideas on this subject, it's really interesting and relevant, I can talk on it hours and hours

Wile slys in Egypt, mortamor threatens carmaleta to hunt sly down and have him thrown in jail (and dead) or else she will get a life (or death) sentence Dimitri hears this and tells panda king and bently and murry
Near the end sly gets shot and killed by mortamor starts trying to take over the world and its a final battle with carmaleta, Dimitri and panda king
Phase 2 is where mortamor goes full antasma and grows twice the size of clockwerk(also sly get revived) and the trio have to take him out sonic heroes style

I always thought a new Sly game should move away from villains upset with Sly specifically and deal with the legacies of the other characters. What if the villains were Bentley’s parents, and it’s revealed that they’re terrible criminals so Bentley ended up at the orphanage because they went to prison. And now they’ve found out where Bentley is and want him on their side.

Very true, a return of Clockwerk would be Ideal in one avenue. It colud even be a double return with Neeyla since she was merging with Clockwerk. They could both come back in a new body "Clockwerk reimagined" while they both now want revenge on just Sly, and to do that they hire assassins or bounty hunters or set someone up inside Interpol to keep an eye on Carmelita in the event Sly returns some how. Or, as you said a cop or a bounty hunter that has a sketchy reputation of sorts regarding criminals he/she catches. Side note, we actually DO know where Clockwerk is from if you pay attention to Sly's Ice Age ancestor. the egg he stole was from Clockwerk's nest and that Clockwerk got itself "robotisized" by chance thus gaining knowledge that lead to the Clockwerk we know and hate/love.
If Clockwerk really originates from 10 000BC, then I wonder how he got that tech of a body let alone English.

Clockwerk may be a good idea to appear again in the next games.But I think they will not do that since Clockwerk has already appeared in 2 games(1 and 2). Also in 2 it said that Clockwerk died forever since they have destroyed the main chip

To be honest I had the same idea , want to see a sly game where the main antagonists is not a thief but a police , a twisted mind police if you will , and maybe have panda king and guru help sly I miss playing as them . or a game where the main antagonists is someone who hate not sly but maybe carmelita fox , a thief who hate her or a jealous police officer .

I feel like sly the original trilogy could’ve dragged the clockwerk arc out for an extra 2 games they killed him too easily
How about a Red-panda who uses fake magic and a made up game known as the dark games that was made by the King of Darkness, his name is Kyoya (who is Japanese) and he wears a Japanese straw hat, and other Japanese clothing, and he is creepy. He uses props to scare people to either take their money or treasure, or (in my episode) Pierre hires Kyoya to try and scare Sly Cooper so bad that Sly would have no choice but to turn himself in. In the later part of the story, Sly figures out that Kyoya was a fraud, but as Kyoya tries to escape, the dark games become a reality, the real Dark King rises as black slug and possesses Kyoya and makes sure Sly doesn't escape the game. When Sly defeats Kyoya, Kyoya get dragged into the dark slug, and his final words was, "THIS... THIS CAN'T POSSIBLE!!! SO THE DARK GAMES, ARE ACTUALLY REAL!!?" and he is never seen again. Until he was brought back by a powerful god and was told to take out Carmelita, now with the powers of the real dark games he challenges Carmelita in the game. Summary Kyoya loses to Carmelita, and is dragged back into the dark slug and screams in agony, "NO, NO, I DON'T WANT TO!!! I DON'T WANT TO GO BACK INTO THE DARKNESS!!! PLEASE!!! SOMEONE!!! HELP ME!!!" He tries to reach out his hand for help, before he is gone forever. Two appearances he makes, and he might leave shivers down to your spine.
Also in Kyoya's second appearance, Pierre thought that Kyoya wanted revenge because he did get paid.
What if the new antagonist is from Interpol and really despises Sly Cooper so much that he or she works with the criminals to get Sly killed. This character is a dirty cop, but still uses all of Interpol's resources to hide his or her tracks. Let's go one step further, what if this antagonist wanted Sly Cooper dead not because he is Sly Cooper, but that he is the same flesh and blood as their own. In other words, this new antagonist is also a Cooper, but it's not mention until the end of the story. This character would be like a half-brother or sister that felt like they should have been the next air to the Cooper legacy.

I was always curious wtf happened between Connor cooper and dr M. Like damn y’all were teammates but u somehow ended up developing this much resentment? Mr cooper… wtf did u do? For all we know Dr M could genuinely be a victim to where his anger is justified. We don’t know
I thought it was funny When you said that Clockwork should come back just to annoy Sly, I can already picture how that interaction would go. In all seriousness though I would love a game that doesn’t feature a villain with a grudge against Sly’s father I do think there are other areas of Sly’s past they could explore if they still want to go down that road, like maybe they could do something related to the orphanage sly grew up in, or they could put more of a focus on Sly’s friendship with Bentley and Murray and have a villain that tries to drive a wedge between the 3 of them or even introduce a villain related to Bentley and/or Murray’s past that could be interesting. If they really do want to keep with the theme of Sly’s father then I say just give him his own game that explores his past and what happened between him and Dr. M, but before any of this can happen first we need to get Sly out of Egypt.
I'd love a game where we dive even deper into Sly's frienship with Murray and Bentley. Remember, Bentley had doubt in the Cooper Vault regarding Sly....
Now when I think about it, one of the common things that they all have in common is, craving absolute power!

Clockwork wanted to show power over the Cooper Clan, by stealing the Thievius Raccoonus, and completely wiping out their lineage, but Sly defeated him.

Arpeggio wanted power through immortality, to live forever, and have the world under his control, and have power over the minds of the world, but then Neyla got greedy and wanted that power all to herself, which prove futile, seeing her fate.

M wanted to steal the Wealth from the Cooper Vault, after all those years helping to gather them up, having believed they rightfully belong to him, never understanding that Conner wasn't being selfish, the Man was just simply preserving his family's History! Believing one day, Sly would get to see, not only the riches of his family, but the history of how it all started.
The Cooper Vault rightfully belongs to the Coopers, not anyone outside the Clan
Lastly 4
LA Paradox also, like Clockwork, wanted to prove his Superiority over the Cooper Clan, by stealing their Canes, and getting revenge for his family name, and also believing their Canes was the only thing that made them thieves, not knowing a Cane doesn't make a Cooper a good thief, but it's what that Cooper does with, or without that Cane that makes him or her a great thief!
Having failed, and realize that in the end, his mission for revenge prove pathetic, and utterly flawed.
In the end they died as they lived.

Yeah, i do think they could bring in something different for Sly in the next inevitable installment, wouldn't hurt to try. Still i do think that having a Sly game with time travel could be handled better than Thieves in time, like the idea you have to explore the present version of location and see it corrupted by the bad guys time traveling to the past to take advantage of it and the more you change in the past, the better the future would become, even getting to the point of saying there's something blocking your path in the present, well be going to the past and you remove it entirely allowing you to progress and also i wouldn't mind seeing Carmilita Fox starring spin off to promote Sly 5, to demonstrate what the main series next installment could look like, plus we have never seen much from Carmilita's point of view, so the idea of her having some character development, in a post Sly is missing world, that she would for once have to hold her own and not rely on others to save her and yeah allowing her to do her cop duties and inspect stuff and solve/bust crime. Even having her boss being like J Jonah Jamison, Peter Parker's boss from Spider-Man would be pretty great and just looking at the few times we see the guy, i think it fits. So yeah Sly 5 and a Carmilita Fox spin off on my dream game list. 😄🙏🤞
If Sly were that big of a franchise, a Carmelita spin-off would've been a very welcomed edition. But, seeing as how the Sly series is pretty underrated, it'd be hard to attract an audience not to mention a bit riskier. You do bring up very good points!
@@VtnVivi Yeah, i will say that if the previous Sly games were ported over to modern systems and as well as Sony themselves saying it's there if you want it, basically to try and get them to sell well. That once you have this strong audience for Sly by doing remasters and etc, then yeah a Carmilita Fox spin off could work and sell, plus they could sell it and outright say it's a Sly Cooper spin off in a way to sell it, plus doing enough stuff to sell it, like get people hyped like with other projects like Uncharted 2 for example it sold well cause they showed it off in a wild and positive light, like showing off what they could do with the engine stuff like the Scene which Drake and his partner was in a gunfight trying to also escape a collapsing building they are in of which still to this day was one of the best parts of Uncharted 2, don't get me started on the train part. Which looking at Sly 4, it didn't get that luxury and almost everytime that Sanzaru/Sony showed it off it was in either in rough shape or just had some bad design decisions that turned people off, but Sanzaru did save it at the end in it's release and all those roughness was gone, not to mention there was other projects that dwarfed it in comparison like Battlefield 4 which had that technical showcase with the ridiculous means of destruction which didn't function well at launch, not to mention Sony with Sly 2 back in the day they nailed it with marketing and did a lot of awesome showcases for the project, with it trying to capture the feel of a Heist Movie, which they nailed quite well when the game released, so yeah if Sony could market it as well as other successes like Uncharted and whatever from the past then yes, they could get back that multimillion success they once had.

Yeah. The series REALLY needs a fresh coat of paint and some new direction. To me, Sly 4 isn't even canon due to how ridiculous the story plot is, too much attention to the Cooper line, and how it keeps trying to force the Carmelita and Sly ship down our throats and that's not even beginning to touch the subject how and why Sly got away with being 'Constable Cooper' in the first place due to what happened in Sly 2.
This franchise has so much potential to dive right into Bentley's, Murray's and even Carmelita's past before Sly came along yet all of it completely revolves around him and keeps them in such a limited box that merely keeps them as plot devices rather than characters. You got Mugshot, a recurring and entertaining villain to use yet he is completely underutilized despite constantly popping up and still causing trouble in the series.
But the Interpol enforcer story and having Carmelita make the hard choice? We've already had that in Sly 2 with Neyla as the 'enforcer' and Carmelita choose her job over everything else! She was sympathetic but she wasn't gonna go rogue for Sly for ANY reason. That's kinda how we got the fake amnesia bit in the first place with the ending in Sly 3 and how Carmelita gave Sly a new identity to suit HER life but not his. He had to sacrifice EVERYTHING, even his own friends/family, to be with Carmelita. You don't find that messed up to do especially with how much the Cooper legacy meant to Sly and how miserable he looked having a normal life and the only time we saw him smile and be happy was when he was pulling heists and basically...being himself?
Carmelita and Sly are awesome characters but these two work better apart than together.

Raven I actually found a good fanfic That connects the 4th game to the 3 other games and this 5th one called line of thieves.
It goes into detail on how clockwork was in the ice age and why Penelope betrayed them in detail
How come no one ever talks about the most underrated character in the series and is a detective in Interpol, Pierre Winthorp. Like I said before he is a detective in Interpol, but also has feelings towards Carmelita, but he isn't very confident to tell her. If he was in a Sly game, he would probably try to catch Sly Cooper just to impress Carmelita. But I like to think Pierre isn't the smartest person in Interpol, how I would see this.
(Sly Cooper disguised as a bystander, and Pierre and runs up to Sly and cuffs him)
Pierre: Ah Ha! I finally caught you Sly Cooper! I can finally impress Carmelita now that I have caught the greatest thief in the world!
(Sly takes off his disguise, but gives Pierre a smirk)

Sly: Well Sly was given to me by my mother, but my last name is Dooper.

(As Pierre was distracted by his mistake, Sly manages to take off the cuffs and escapes)

I feel like you would need to target the people that sly is really close to (for example Bentley and Murray ) or just make it personal somehow so he’s continue to steal and do what he does. the reason they always tie everything to the cooper legacy is because that’s the easiest thing to get him to motivate to continue to steal take down every one that he need to. An example of this is thieves in time cause sly didn’t have a motivation to go back to stealing until Bentley showed up and told him what was up with the book. So if your just gonna focus on sly’s legacy and not the entire cooper legacy then it should be personal.....sorry if I am not making any sense or I lost my point but yea and on a side note if they do tackle his past all I want to know is how did his father learn how to grind and walk on laser just saying we need more laser walking and laser grinding
