LiSA's song "Homura" has won the grand prize, the "Japan Record Award," at the '62nd Japan Record Awards
She deserves it omg!
well deserved tbh
Credits to yuki kajiura for making the song for lisa well deserve
This song hits really different when you watch the movie & then she starts singing at the end. That broke me emotionally.
Same here
Same man.. JNust finished the Movie and I honestly cried..
I saw the movie with some friends, and after it finished I remember standing in the aisle in the movie theater, all of us collectively crying our eyes out as the credits played. We were all broken for days after.
And then you see Rengoku's broken sword in the end
I got the movie spoiled for me and I still cried
I understand enough Japanese to piece together the phrases with subs, and I can say that the places where her voice breaks make sense lyrically. She is extremely connected to the lyrics. Every cry, every break, every flip from one placement to another fits perfectly with the lyrics.
I absolutely agree.
I don't speak japanese at all, and I feel this as well.
Just shows again, she that she is such a great performer.
Japanese is one of those languages I've always just really enjoyed the sound of, and for some reason it's even more so when it's sung. Something about the cadence (not in the musical sense, only the linguistic) of it because of how it's structured? I can hear it (I think) and see it when it's subtitled phonetically, but I don't know enough to actually explain it. It sounds great, that is all.
I'm the same. For me I think it's the simplicity and purity of its sounds that appeals to me. Coming from English where we have hundreds of thousands of sounds to my native language to Japanese that has something around a few thousand. It's the crispness of the vowels that does it for me.
so agreed i love to hear the language and my music playlist is all nippon right now....not intentionally it just happened over time
@@Snow-Willow Sounds? English has 42 sounds.
it probably japanese language doesnt use single alphabet except for "n".. but its construct phonetically.. its structure uses a lot Copula verbs (also known as linking verbs) which make it really smooth and also very easy to rhyme where many word would end in vowel which make listening to japanese music usually pleasing to hear
I know I'm late but I think what makes Japanese sound so nice is that they basically have a strictly vowel-consonant-vowel-consonant etc progression in their language. With one small exception there are no single consonants in Japanese so the letters/Kana are things like "mo", "ha", "ru" etc. its always either a consonant followed by a vowel or just the vowel on its own. That gives it a really nice flow I feel like.
I read the manga
I knew what was coming
I knew how it would go down
But goddamnit Lisa's voice kicks in and i still broke down like a blubbering man child
As a fellow manga reader, I didn’t think I’d cry cause I knew what was gonna happen but god damn it the execution killed me 😭
She goes on to talking about her emotions after the song is done. Thats it what the remaining part of the video is there at the end. Also great content, i feel like you would really enjoy her and Uru singing saikai from the same channel the first take
The chorus messed me up anyway when I saw the movie, just made this song hit that much harder.
Love Demon Slayer at the moment as one of the examples proving you don't need 24 episodes to flesh out one character.
LiSa is a goddess. Thank you so much for reacting to her!
LiSA*
As stated, her "Gurenge" with one take is great. But her "Unlasting" with one take is breathtaking
Yes
Absolutely
Unlasting is probably best anime song ever made
@@lucasblackanimecollector3004 disagree completly, u should hear domestic girlfriend opening
@@kotominekirei1706 lets not compare minami to lisa lmao
Wow, this singer really knows how to express feeling and emotion. Just reading the lyrics and hearing her interpret it through song makes me feel like she's telling me HER story. Like she's reliving it.
As a huge fan of Band-Maid, and you mentioning Band-Maid in this video. I do hope for another reaction on Band-Maid :D
"About Us" please!!!!!!
@@larispegmail I was gonna say the same. Sayonakidori could be a good one to analyse Miku's voice instead of Saiki's this time tho
My vote is for the Warning MV.
@@yerayortiz7285 Oohh yes. Miku's vocal is amazing.
Wonderland live at Shibuya would be perfect
I'd actually loved to see your reaction when she finished singing and actually started tearing up bc of the emotions she connects with this song
I wish I could give you more than one thumb's up! You are so spot on going back and adding text to share your thoughts rather than breaking up the song to the point of making the experience downright frustrating, regardless how valid the points. When you did break was a perfect point, it was right at that octave drop that was almost a growl, for me it was a "Damn, if I was half listening a second ago, you have my undivided attention now" moment. LiSa's range is somewhere between S-Rank and Kami-Level, her vibrato is so well executed she makes it feel "easy". LiSa's songs are so much fun to mix with I can personally attest to club and festival goers all over the world expressing their feeling her on the dance floor or out in the grass and mud in dance even though they had never heard her singing before I fed her tracks into my mixing board and with a little sampling and mixing I made the beats my own letting her amazing voice prove that great singing and great beats are Universal and can supersede any language barrier.
This song is so emotional it had a grown man fighting back tears. LiSA's vocals here really hit different than other versions of this song. One moment she's smooth and melancholy, and next it's just pure power belting from her chest. I can't ever watching this performance without tearing up. It is very heartfelt and genuine.
LiSa is just so amazing i always FEEL her songs and even tho i hear this for like 1000th time i still got goosebumps over my whole body and even my new burn scar- like how? im so impressed every time
btw she really is connected to the song a lot she literally did cry at the end she was so emotional it made me cry more than i did when i heard the song itself the first time
i dropped my tears again after listening to this for hundred times
She such an emotional singer, and technical, and what I love is the variety of sound effects that she has in her arsenal.
right? it's really engaging and heartfelt.
I love this kind of reaction, text on screen.
You absorb so much.
Thank you!.
Yay a LiSA reaction! Thank you!! This version of Homura is my fav. Gurenge (first take version) is another awesome video too! WIll you react to that as well please? :D
Love the fact that more and more people are getting to know the first take. I won't even ask for more reactions (though they would be nice), but make sure to give other authors (especially Co Shu Nie and Queen Bee) a listen once you have some time - so much talent and uniqueness.
Yes, Avu-chan from Queen Bee does some amazing things with vocals.
It's a great channel, yeah.
I have listened to Lisa last year, binge watched her live stages with live banda. Thanks for reminding me to listen to her again. 🥰
I wish she would've reacted to the end of the video as well where she breaks in tears and talks about her connection to the song.
As a person that hearing this before and after watch the movies it's feel different really different. After watching it and hearing this song it's emotionally affected you.
The homura lyrics goes deep to my heart.. after I watched the movie.
Good thing you listened to this the first take version before watching the movie, 'coz the movie will slap harder 😂
LiSA is amazing. Thanks for this reaction! I'm surprised I didn't comment on it back when I saw you react. Would love to see some more reactions of LiSA. She's got a few concert performances on YT as well as more First Takes. 🤘
🔥🔥"Set your heart ablaze." 🔥🔥
"No matter how devastated you may be by your own Weakness or Uselessness. Set your heart ablaze"
“This will kill you, Kyojuro!” 👿
oh wait my bad, I didn’t get the memo
You should look up some of her live concerts videos on here. She is absolutely amazing. Having been to one of her shows personally she can go on and on without hardly stopping. She's a gift to us all :)
The earliest popular anime song that Lisa provided that i know of was "oath sign" for fate/zero, and that one was way back in 2010. So shes an undeniable veteran in the industry B-)
This video has inspired me to look into voice training - I want to be able to really sing my heart out without giving myself a sore throat after one song!
The end where she explains her emotional standpoint at the end drove me further into tears
another day, another voice coach mesmerized by LiSA's voice... THE FACE OF SAO and MVP of Demon Slayer
At least on this First Take, at the end she explains it was hard for her not to disconnect from the song personally so her emotions are at the very least partially real. "I sang it like I would on a show".
Which takes me back to Final Operation Concert last song Ichiban No Takaramono... the first time I saw LiSa (although online) and for both real world reasons and the anime it was connected, it was a literal tear jerker and it shows that she matured as a singer since she can hold her emotions better (as far as I can see)
Wooow, i've been waiting for this
Hoping you will also react to "LiSa - Unlasting" First Take version (all of her First Takes are amazing)!
I heard this song before watching the movie, but I also read the manga, so lots of tears were shed...
one take is amazing, because they only allow the artist to have one take and thats is, whatever they sing is up to them buts its only one take. The fact that lisa trusted herself that much to do so much variation on a one take damn
every part is probably her choice. she sang on concert for hours there's no way one song can tired her out. she's absolutely amazing
I cant hear this ever without seeing Rengoku's smiling bloodied face
Stop making me cry 😭😭😭
I'm more impressed with her grit and softness in the lower registers. That sh*t hits so hard...
Ahh, I love her voice! Great video as always :D
I think you'll like Kalafina's Hikari Furu too, this song never ceases to make me cry and the vocals sound like heaven!
Lisa is my first singer that inspired me sing i love her she still in her primo i recommend you watch her tours in bilibili the video quality are insane she is insane too and that color is not the only one she has
OMG! I’m so glad you reacted to this I don’t know if you saw my comment I left on one of your older videos about this song but your analysis was enjoyable to watch as always. Saikai ft Uru and Unlasting from The First Take are also amazing performances from LiSa and if you could check them out I’m sure you’d have something wonderful to say.
I don't know much about LiSA's solo career but what she sings in Girls Dead Monster (Angel Beats) is incredible. Keep The Beats is one of my favorite j-rock albums of all time.
absolutely amazing and wonderful 💞💞💞💞💞💞😊😊😊❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great vid. Easily the most interesting "review" of this song to someone with zero technical knowledge. You explain things really well!
Every time this artist isn't singing, is a crime against humanity.
I know what Breathing style Lisa is using
Its called “ Sound Style - RIP Eardrums First Form”
Im crying so hard when watch the movie and hear this song

Even before seeing the movie I heard this song and by her lyricless belt party I was starting to cry. Totally lost it during the last chorus. LiSA and Gackt are two of the only singers who've ever been able to make me cry without even understanding their words.
Thats cool how you explained how she's alternating between the placement of the sounds to give her voice variety, didn't realise she was doing that. just discovered your channel and love the range of different artists you react to. What's your favourite anime?
Would love for you to react to some of Tyler Joseph's vocal from the band twenty one pilots, he has a very unique voice. I recommend their song Jumpsuit as he switches his singing style a few times.
Favourite anime is a tricky question to answer! Feel free to join the discord (link is description) if you wanna chat about anime. We have an anime channel just for talking shows :)
Thanks for the suggestion!
How can a song be this perfect
Loved you didn't stopped the video to explain ❤️
Not sure if you watched the end of the video after you wrapped up but part of the breakages towards the end was also that she was holding back tears from how singing the song was making her feel in the moment. I haven't watched the movie or heard a studio version so I'm not sure how much of that is in that version but the real emotion in this one was an extra kick in the feels for me
Am I alone with the feeling that at the end you would like to take this sweetie in your arms and whisper softly to her 'It's OK' ?
I definitely wouldn't count myself among the most emotional ones and there aren't many performances where I end up feeling like I've just cut onions, but this one.... And the weird thing is, I can't even put my finger on why.
I've asked myself several times what you would think of this performance, as I've been impressed by this little powerhouse for a few years now. Thanks for the, as always, detailed insights.
【 'Our rock never dies ever. Forever!' - Band-Maid 】🕊️
Gurenge on first take by Lisa has got to be the most impressive vocals Ive ever heard, you should react to it
I get emotional every single time
LiSa's voice will always give me chills. Love her
aside from the other LiSa stuff on First Take, i would highly recommend 緑黄色社会 - Shout Baby on the First Take
I highly recommend it, too!!
LiSA
No matter how many times I listen to this I always get chills
I came to your channel to let you know that MAMAMOO just dropped a new mini album and that the title track is a MUST watch and react - and then I see this video!!!
I love Demon Slayer and have just watched the movie 2 weeks ago. I have listened to this performance a hundered times and it always made me emotional, but now... after the movie... I just get so many flashbacks and want to cry ;.;
P.S. please react to MMM - Where are we now
hope you did watche the little end where she says she got really emotional on this take she is clearly shaking and i think it whats made us all get to cry on that first take, you can definitly tell between gurenge and homura on the first take...somoen close to her died
Her voice is on god level..!!
Your voice is really relaxing, you could start a podcast.
Hi Julia, I enjoyed you reacting to Lisa. I also really would like to see you reacting to one of the Japanese Diva, Misia, singing ''Ashitae'' in The First Take. She made this song to dedicate to the people lost and hurt by the Tsunami and Earthquake happened in Tohoku, Japan. She has put a lot of emotion into this song to mourn the lost and to have hope towards tomorrow. Lyrics are very nice also. Another one from Misia is called Higher Love, also in The First Take which has different vibe that would give you warmth and joy through this performance. Thank you for your consideration and looking forward to your reactions.
Postmodern jukebox Seven Nation Army ft. Haley Reinhart. Amazing song. She does use some scat which I know you were asking about when you watched creep.
If you watch the movie and then hear this song you automatically cry for sure
She makes this so busy, but her pacing makes it work. Takes a real talent to pull this off.
Everybody is gangsta until Homura and Unlasting 1st Take start to play
Your Australian accent sounds really beautiful too
i watched the movie and i hadn’t read any of the manga, but what really broke me was hearing LiSa sing as ‘he’ (ykw if u watched the movie) said his final words.
Unravel from The First Take! :D
it's so beautiful to see the vocal coach over come with emotion for once
You should hear her song unlasting! It seems like nobody gives it the love it deserves.
Another really good First Take video with her is LiSA x Uru - "Saikai". They sound amazing together and it's also a really nice song.
Also worth noting at the end of this video she says she actually was on the verge of tears during the song and it really does come through.
You Didn't Let Her Finish Saying what she wanted to Say at the End of the Video! SHE GIVES YOU INSIGHT!
Thanks for this reaction. I found LiSa's voice interesting in that it felt like it was constantly being 'held back' or squeezed, like water trying to rush through a narrow opening under pressure, so it came out in a very direct and focussed way, but didn't seem to have a lot of 'fullness'. I guess that is what you mean by, "compression" versus being, "free." If you like anime and you're used to listening to Japanese-style vocals and musical styles, I'd recommend The Wagakki Band. They are a Japanese 'Folk-Rock/Pop/Metal/Jazz/Classical/Rap/Punk/whatever-they-feel-like-being-today band that combines traditional instruments (wagakki) and singing styles (shigin) with conventional rock instruments, rap and clean vocals. The founder and lead vocalist is Yuko Suzuhana, who is a tiny girl with a massive voice and sings and raps in conventional and 'shigin' style (traditional Japanese poetry recital) vocals. She has a much more full and open sound with a crazy vibrato, and mixes her singing with traditional fan dancing, parasol dancing and sword dancing (kenbu)
They have covered a lot of vocaloid anime themes in their earlier songs, like 'Rokuchounen to Ichya Monogatari' (A Tale of Six Trillion Years and a Night), 'Tengaku' (Music from the Heavens), 'Senbonzakura' (Thousand Cherry Blossoms) and 'Noushou Sakurestu Girl' (Brain Fluid Explosion Girl), but a lot of their later, self-written songs have been used in anime aswell, like 'Ikusa' (War), 'Nadeshiko Sakura' (Pink Cherry Blossoms) in Sengoku Musou (Samurai Warriors); 'Valkyrie', 'Keika' (Over the Passage of Time?) in 'Sousei no Onmyouji' (Twin Star Exorcists); Sasameyuki (Snowflakes) in 'Kyoto Teramachi Sanjou no Holmes' (Holmes of Kyoto), 'Seimei no Aria' (Aria of Life) in 'Mars Red'; 'Hangeki no Yaiba' (Counterattack Sword) in 'Hangeki no Noroshi' (Attack on Titan - Smoke Signal of the Counterattack), aswell as a new song they are writing as the closing theme for the Kabuki Theatre version of 'Naruto'. Their song 'Kishikaisei' (Return from the Dead) was the TV theme for the 2016 Olympics on Japanese TV and they have written a new song as a theme for another TV show 'Starlight', which s a bit more mainstream and conservative.
The best tracks for analysing Yuko's voice are probably the slower ballads, most of which she writes, like 'Sabaku no Komoriuta' (Desert Lullaby), 'Izana' ('Powerful Woman'), 'Queen of the Night' or 'Okino no Tayu' (Albatross), but they also do a collabroation with Amy Lee from Evanescence of 'Bring Me To Life', where Amy and Yuko do a duet, with Machiya (lead guitar) doing the harsh vocals, although his sound is turned down a little too low in the mix, so it loses its impact (Premium Symphonic Night, Vol 2, with full orchestra). My favourites are 'Ignite' (fast, almost-punk rock and rap) and 'Synchronicity' (jazz / swing style duet - a conversation between a couple who are body-swapped by a lightning strike).

I’m really looking forward to a BAND-MAID ft. LiSA song for an anime one day. Would be fantastic. Akane is a super fan-girl of LiSA, most likely because she is a big anime otaku and LiSA is anisong royalty nowadays. There’s a really lovely photo of Band-Maid with LiSA at Tower Records with Akane hugging LiSA, when Band-Maid were doing their promotion rounds for their album CONQUEROR and bumped into LiSA there.
The other vocalist I’d love to hear with Band-Maid would be aimer, partially because I’d love to hear another Kanami-MISA ballad masterpiece to match aimer’s unique voice.
You should try listen to Kokoronashi LIVE version because that song/singing absolutely breaks your heart - similar vibes to Homura and just so filled with such raw emotions that make you want to cry :'(
I'm no vocal coach, but I love how you can really feel LiSa's tension. For me the breath and 'holding back' just lead up to the explosive ending
I knew the voice sounded familiar but never looked up to see who did the Irregular. I really enjoy the songs lisa has done.
Julia! I too have been waiting for you to react to Lisa. Take all of the previous positive comments and just cut and paste them here.
One thing, you missed the best part, her own reaction to finishing the song. I hope you did go back and watch that.
Showed this to my friends, they said she was "good". I need new friends! Keep up the great work!
You did a great job explaining exactly what she's doing and why it's so impressive.
I do wish your own voice was louder compared to the song though.
The questioning on the breaking up/gravely part at the end is completely intentional. It was a very emotionally rough piece and the breakdown is literally a break down if you watched the end.
I know this is unrelated but... Your hair looks sooo beautiful!
To the person in the video, have you seen the first season? It's cannon to the ani e, so you have to watch Demon Slayer season 1 first to know who is who and what's going on.
Great reaction to a beautiful voice. Still going to recommend giving Hanabie - We love Sweets a view. I believe you’ll find it both interesting and entertaining.
Check Aina the End's First Take. Her voice is very unique.
Oooooh yes! Totally different, and amazing in her own style
If you could please review LiSa's Gurenge! It is from the same anime and it shook me to the core! Love your content :3

For You. I wrote it myself while listening to the song.
homura[炎: blaze.燃え盛る]
-劇場版 鬼滅の刃 無限列車編」主題歌
作詞/作曲: (梶浦由記 ) words and music by Kajiura Yuki
Julia! Now would be the ideal time for me to recommend "Lovebites - Winds Of Transylvania [VLADLOVE Version] (Music Video)". It's the theme tune to the anime series Vlad Love, which Lovebites were specially commissioned to write for the series.
Yes. She needs to react to Lovebites.
LISA''s tone, emotion and stamina are great. What do you think about her breathing technique, though. It seems she relies on quick noisy gasp even when she has more than enough time to inhale more linearly over a longer period whch would give her more breath and less intake sound. I understand that this song has so many other things to think about and she does a remarkable job getting it all done in one take with so many vocal colors over a wide range in its faster tempo. So she deserve much credit for such an overall beautiful performance. Thanks for another great reaction.
Now you need to react to her performing Gurenge the same way. It's amazing.
Her voice broke a bit in last part because she was literally crying. you can see she talking about how she been remind of alot of thing by the song bring her to tears.
This song hits different after you watch the movie the lyrics make so much more sense 🥲
100%... i filmed this, then watched the movie, then edited the reaction and was like 'i would've been balling my eyes out if I had watched the movie first'...
R.I.P Rengoku kyojiro flame hashira set your heart blaze 🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️
believe me you'll cry when this song starts in the movie
This song makes me cry because of the movie :(
i know it's quite an old vid and i don't know how to submit a song to analyze, so i try here, because it's also a First Take one, from Queen Bee - Kaen. I love her, she has a very unique voice and range and i hope you enjoy the ride of her perfomrance. heres the link
Julia, would love to hear your analysis of Queen Bee's recent appearance on The First Take performing "MEPHISTO"!
I always thought that the bridge part is like a crying with a beautiful tone
