The Gaol is brutal. I remember barely squeaking past Hard solo with unsynced & epic echo at level 60 & solid gear. VERY impressive solution! Perhaps the best one, as tanking it gives a brutal damage down debuff.
Actually tanking it was one of the things I tried. I couldn't get the hp on Solo with the gear available but normal titan doesn't give the damage down. I was pretty shocked to learn that honestly.
Other breakpoints to beat the fight would have involved getting enough hp to survive a gaol hit (likely using SCH) or enough damage to make him change phase before he casts it. I'm mostly impressed Doton does enough damage to break a gaol at level 50 which makes it viable at the lowest level.
I'll add the chapters once Premiere is done. No spoilers :^) * Chapters are up now. Thank you to everyone for joining for the premiere. It was a ton of fun watching through it with you all.
Very well done! Remember that using the role action True North can let you get some Positionals Damage on enemies even though they are facing you, if you find yourself having to use a Melee DPS for fights in the future.
What an exciting episode! I didn't think the gaol could be done, but I also hadn't tried ninja thinking it couldn't survive the regular damage. The rest of the way should be much easier! For Palace grinding, most people do floors 51-60 since you can start from those floors when you first reach them and they give the most experience. They're easier than the previous 20 floors too, almost surprisingly so. Warrior is definitely a good class to get to that point! Well done!~
I just want to say this run has actually inspired me to be more resourceful and self-sufficient in game I've started relevelling my crafter and gathering all my own mats/gear for them and it's honestly way more fun (if a little more time consuming) than just power levelling and spending gil to gear up
Sometimes I wish to find a challenge series on UA-cam later, just so I can binge it all. But here I am, being super glad to be able to watch your videos with some time in between. Your journey so far has been super entertaining and I can't wait for the next video. Keep going strong!
It's been great watching you play through this, its honestly amazing seeing you come up with all of these ideas and workarounds. Can't wait for the rest of this series as I'm sure it'll be one I come back to.
Seeing this done pre-Ixal tribe unlock (at MSQ43) I shudder at remembering what it was like to grind to 50 using only leve quests. But I am fascinated at all the interlocking parts of it all.
All I can say is holy crap that answer was ingenious. I always just hammered him down with lots of damage but that just doesn't work with these rules, so congratulations on both finding the answer and getting it to work!
This is the sort of creativity I love to see in challenge runs! I always knew ninja was the best job. Also love the choice of Dragon Quest music for bgm lol.
wow, very impressed, I honestly thought this would be the end of this challenge. With Titan cleared though, I think your next big challenge is going to be on Garuda honestly, I really am starting to think it is very possible to make it to the end of ARR now. You might want to start farming some materia if you aren't already, that could help you out a bit on those super close calls, problem with farming it solo is it is random, but it could be useful.
This was fantastic. Nice job on figuring out a method to the gaols, terrible terrible fate, crushed to death, lol. I entirely forgot that you have to do [Hard] mode in the MSQ, that'll uh.... that'll be something for sure. It's definitely interesting using a higher level job to beat it, I do wonder if you have any limitations on that aspect?
Since it'll be horrible to grind up higher level jobs, and I'm gear capped at ilvl 110 crafted in ARR, I don't currently have a limitation on class levels. The vitality increases are small in comparison to the required grinds, and really all it's doing is giving me access to more abilities / weaponskills
@@rathgames Oh right, that makes sense. As long as there is an ilvl cap due to gear you can make, that definitely still gives you difficulty, even with the much better abilities and skillset at higher levels.
@@ArcadiaP hes also ilvl caped at 130 in ARR with the Tomestone gear. Also even if he get past lvl 50 he cabt do any of the Jobquest since you have to reach HW for the new Trainer. And iirc nearly all Jobs dont get any new Skills from 50-60 trough leveling. All of them given by Jobquest.
@@rathgames technically can get a little beyond that cap on the weapon, but on the flipside you'll have to allow yourself to use a vendor to reach 110 anyway (you have to buy the mastercraft books with the i110 recipes in, and you'll need gear from that same vendor to have the stats to craft them without reaching heavensward)

I love that the roadblocks setup by the MSQ give you a nice challenge to then take advantage of and make these great storylines each video. Insane dedication so far, some of these grinds are starting to push it, glad to see you overcome another trial that seemed impossible at first, and welcome ninja into the job roster. Can't wait for the next one.
I love this series! Your editing is so good and I love the pacing for every episode where you set your goal and we get to watch you work towards it. Looking forward to next episode and will keep an eye out for the stream :)
Great job! I genuinely thought this would be the end of the run, but you managed to find a method that worked! Honestly never considered NIN as a means to solo it.
This is wild and amazing, I love the dedication you put in it. I'm just worried it comes to an end not because powerlevel but because silly Crystal Tower raids. I hope you you find a way around that (or allow yourself to cheat) because I don't want that to block you off. Wanna see you kill Nidhog, ngl
Great videos dude! Just getting back into 14 and this is fun as hell to watch. Also that big ant on cutters cry, that first word is pronounced merr-mi-don. I only learned that because of elder scrolls 4 oblivion B^) Keep on keeping on!
Pronunciation of Dzemael is "zih - MY - ehl", based on in-game cutscenes from Heavensward. Funnily enough, Scholar can *also* defeat Titan at level 50 with some luck and the maximum gear available from A Realm Reborn (Item level 130 plus 135 weapon.) I am aware that you won't have access to that amount of gear as a solo player at your point in the story, though. Here's how SCH can get through: Scholar's HP (Dunesfolk Lalafell for me) is 5,625 when synced to level 50, without Echo. Critical Adloquium adds an effective shield worth over 4,100 HP, for a total of 9,725 effective HP. On your Ninja, which has less Magic Defense than Scholar, you were taking 12,000 damage about from the gaol. Scholar has access to a couple sources of mitigation that work here, since the gaol deals magic-type damage. Sacred Soil, and Fey Illumination. Scholar can put down the soil to reduce the damage taken by 10%, but placing it is *extremely unforgivingly* tight, also requiring a favourable server tick to last 18 seconds instead of its expected 15. Fey Illumination is a little kinder. Fey Illumination will reduce the damage taken by a further 5%, but also increase the Adloquium shield by 10%. Since it lasts 20 seconds, you need to swiftcast, command the fairy to use the skill, and then use the swiftcast on Adloquium, praying for the critical, and then precisely place Sacred Soil, praying for a good server tick. Absolutely miserable. After Fey Illumination and Sacred Soil, the damage the Gaol will deal is (12,000x0.9)(0.95)=10,260 damage. With the bonus 10% on the shield from Fey Illumination, Scholar has an effective HP at level 50 with maximum gear of 10,135. Because the gear is significantly stronger *and* we're on a casting class, we can reasonably expect the damage to be less than this simply by virtue of the different gear. While on the subject, the only thing a tank needs to survive it with maximum level 50 gear is a cast of Rampart. They take significantly less damage by default of being a Tank (level 1 trait Tank Mastery) and they have a natural health pool of 8,670. However, after taking a hit like that, tanks don't really have comfortable ways to heal themselves back up the way that Scholar would, so I'm not certain how easy it would be to finish out the fight. Blue Mage can be unlocked only after defeating Ultima Weapon. Disregarding the locations of where you learn spells, a synced (level 36) Blue Mage without Echo has a fair shot at simply defeating Titan without being placed in a gaol. Ignoring Aetherial Mimicry as that spell requires another player, the simple use of Basic Instinct, Whistle, Moon Flute, Final Sting is enough to do half of Titan's total HP in one hit (Synced to level 36!!!). Since Titan jumps at 49.9% to spawn Titan's Heart, this means that Blue Mage can skip both the heart and final phase by suicide-killing Titan when he's on 50%. I expect in the future you will be unlocking Blue Mage, and this is for if you were curious about how effective it can be for synced soloing in the future. All you have to do is faff about with your DoT on until Titan is at 50%, White Wind to heal yourself, and throw out the final sting, hope it crits and/OR direct hits, and win. Absolutely broken job for this challenge.
Very cool solution to fighting titan solo! Im honestly shocked you had enough hp to live as a lvl 50 dps lol, i guess a testament to how much survivability nin, and melees in general, actually have. One tip i would say is to use true north for when the boss isn't cast locked and theres no way to get positionals. The damage, especially on certain melees, adds up to be a lot.
First of all, sacrilege for using the Dragon Quest theme in a Final Fantasy game. Second of all, it was the perfect build up and usage, so I forgive you. Good job, and I'm bingeing the entire series on my sick day.

I had to do this exact thing against Nidhogg when I was soloing his dungeon for my Relic Wep, I had to nearly frame perfect time my Salted Earth and even then it was a coin flip
Probably wouldve been a better idea to pop the dex potion right as the final phase starts, to give yourself the most time to take advantage of it + mug + trick attack bonuses
Definitely if I had gotten more practice on gaol breaks. I wasn't confident I'd be able to get through 2nd gaol every pull since I was still losing some pulls to it. That was more of a "1 more try for tonight with all my resources" kinda thing, waiting for that last sprint to make sure I wouldn't waste it
"To keep myself sane", "Palace of the dead". Not a combination of phrases I thought I'd hear, honestly.
Not unless the sentence was "to keep myself sane, i will not going to palace of the dead"
"I needed to kill the gaol"
Me, immediately: _DOTON!_
"At level 45, Ninja gets an ability called Doton"
The Gaol is brutal. I remember barely squeaking past Hard solo with unsynced & epic echo at level 60 & solid gear. VERY impressive solution! Perhaps the best one, as tanking it gives a brutal damage down debuff.

Gotta really dig into how FFXIV and its netcode works to get this one done. Can't believe you could squeak out the damage.
dont forget about using feint when playing a melee job. saves you a ton of damage to heal
