Another huge factor in the racial wealth disparity in the United States is the legacy of homesteading, specifically the Oregon Land Donation Act, of which a significant portion of the population are benefactors
The act from 1850 that allowed certain white and mixed blood Indians, and certain existing settlers land to help establish Oregon as a productive state? The same act that required these people to stay on the land (not sell it) and cultivate it for 4 years? You do realize that means they had to prep the land for farming, right? And how does this still impact racial welath disparity almost 200 years later? Are blacks and Indians wanting to start farms? Do you realize it's an extremely unprofitable way to make a living but that there are lots of free handouts? What about this Act of 1850 limits blacks today?
You also realize that the majority of homesteaded properties across the United States have been sold because it is no longer profitable to be a small farm. How do you not know this?
Any race can own land and a home in Oregon and claim a homestead exemption. But it is a limited amount of land and a dollar figure, not the 160-640 acres allowed by the 1850 Act.
Another thing you might want to know, African Americans were eligible for the homestead act of 1860 after 1866. So again how is this all adding to racial wealth disparity?

Yes but, Ms Davis is politically and economically a Marxist/Communist. She studied under an avowed marxist Herburt Marcuse at brandeis. Obviously, she stands on the side of Marxism. I would "never" expect Ms Davis to give an "objective" opinion on free markets or capitalism.
Here is my opinion on the debate of capitalism vs communism. Capitalism and free markets are not the "perfect" system. It never has been and nobody has ever said such a thing. But its a helluva lot better than anything else. And the only other alternative is communism/socialism or government controlled societies. Its been proven time and again that free markets advances societies much faster than any type of collectivist behavior. Just look at how fast we have improved cell phones from being lunky 12,000 devices to a 10 dollar phone anyone can obtain.
So you probably wanna argue the point of wealth disparities. Its like this, in a mixed economy of free markets and collectivism, wealth disparities are going to happen. No one can ever expect to obtain real wealth because of welfare. Your annual income is controlled by the government.
@@bromack3These people need to hear this. Dear Lord it’s getting bad. I’m glad there are informed people like yourself.
I would love to hear liberalism being mentioned once, also capitalism and socialism are not one sided they are fluid economics and can work together. Now I completely understand the history that capitalism has in America and how it works better for white people then people of color, with that being said I do believe that capitalism can work for everyone because it originated from working class people who were not sufficient with feudalism.
Capitalism is anti human, but it's not just about being black or white, it's about social class. Social class is mostly determined by how much money your parents have.
Think about the mass genocide and continued oppression of native people... Making this all about being black just continues to divide the lower classes, (who come in all colors) and it seems to be working.
We should absolutely move towards socialism, but we need to do it together.
If you replace class with race communism has just as much hate in it.
@@Mohawkmonkey360 I'm not a fan of communism, but it's reall just a socioeconomic philosophy. Like capitalism, it is neither classist or racist as a philosophy. It's the people implementing the system that do all that.
@@11regnartseht“Capitalism is anti-human, it’s about social classes”
“Like capitalism it’s neither classist or racist”
Go ahead and explain how you came up with both points at the same time.
Capitalism is an economic system that respects liberty and individual property rights.
Communism is very much not.
@@Mohawkmonkey360 capitalism is always corrupt in the end, that's the nature of it.
@@11regnartseht Right you’re just going to blither without any evidence given or consistency between points, shines light on a theory I’ve always had that communism was invented by idiots so they didn’t have to learn economics. What’s the next que card say?
Capitalism rewards merit. The best race, like the best individual, always triumphs.
That's literally a lie, dude. Some of the most hard-working people make the least amount of money because someone up top said so. People who work three jobs work harder and longer than those who inherited wealth or don't actually have to work every day or every other day to accumulate enough wealth to live thousands of lives from one job, no?
Go touch some grass and stop drinking that American Coolaid.
The best race how can you not see the white supremacy slipping through
Capitalism Anti-Poor
If capitalism is anti-poor, why are the poor better off in capitalist nations than they are in socialist ones?
@@freesk8 first good one on using socialist instead of communism lol
1.you already concluded that i mean communism wich hell no i dont
2.bro they are still poor lol i think you mean working class if you look at it its just interest you still pay the beast 100 times more from your life and he gives you a candy bar and you think your better off
3. current state of capitalism killed competition a guy with a 1000 bigger fish boats will always beat the small ones example amazon do some actual research your talking to economy graduate
@@youneskhouloud2504 I never said communism. 1) I said: "f capitalism is anti-poor, why are the poor better off in capitalist nations than they are in socialist ones?" 2) The poor are better off in free market nations than in countries where the economy is more centrally controlled. And the poor improve their incomes faster in free market nations. Would you prefer to be poor in Canada or Venezuela? Switzerland or Cuba? Hong Kong or N. Korea? 3) Amazon colludes with the government. That is not the free market. Even so, people buy from Amazon voluntarily. Monopoly sucks, whether it is government owned (which socialists advocate) or private. Imagine how much worse Amazon would be if it were a government monopoly? I also have a degree related to economics. That is an argument from authority and therefore invalid.
@Ptolemy 1 Libya is not capitalist. First, slavery violates the ultimate property right: the ownership of the self. Also, Heritage publishes a ranking of all nations on the planet based on objective criteria for free market practices. Libya was not possible to rank because of a lack of data. But based on the data available, it would rank near the least economically free nations. Here is the link: www.heritage.org/index/ranking?version=202
"Ongoing civil war and political uncertainty make running a business in Libya a high-risk and difficult endeavor. Libya ranked 186th out of 190 countries in the World Bank’s 2019 Doing Business report. The labor market remains destabilized. Subsidies amounting to 10.6 percent of GDP in 2019 are forecast to remain high in 2020 due to Libya’s complex political economy, which delays needed reforms." Heritage
Angela Davis caused deaths over her attempt at freeing criminals...criminals who she think are innocent but end up shooting the guard...enough said.
Whot
Quite the mental gymnastics to advocate this nonsense.
of course it IS, that’s how it started. It’s the nature of the beast to remain the same.
Capitalism started thousands of years ago in ancient Greece. There were virtually zero black people there whatsoever. In fact, the entire black population of Europe was less than 0.1% all the way up until maybe 50 years ago. So no, capitalism was not started to keep black people down. lol.
Try reading books. It might cure your ignorance.
Capitalism is the reason US won cold war. Capitalism is the reason US is the richest nation on the planet. You should rectify capitalism not abolish it and by the way you can't.
Too much capitalism is just as bad as full blown socialism/communism.
Many European countries have social market economies! Imagine a power sharing agreement between workers and corporations! Every year union leaders and industry executive meet and discuss wages and workers rights!
I loathe European government
@@sandranosocialism1780 that has nothing to do with the government 😂
Union leaders and business executives or business owners aren’t the government
They literally have policies that intentionally exclude North Africans from participating in economy and in education they are built on the exact same type of stuff our country is built on the only difference is it looks better because they’re at home situation is cleaner.
@@zendragallhauser5056 it does have to do with government because there are regulations that prevent those business owners from acting the same way business owners are here in America act.
@@Kakashi75 ah I see your point now! Yes the real problem is, that those policies don’t go far enough and that they don’t benefit certain people enough!
The best solution is a mix of both capitalism and socialism - i.e For profits co-ops, not state owned businesses.
@Christoffer Aguilar Hmm... No, I said for profit co-ops.
What you're talking about is more about how government is ran, nothing to do with economics.
Socialism is "workers ownership of the means of production" not publicly ownership because if the state controls your labor the state would become the Capitalist and alienation from your labor would still happen.
And the state would have of cause reforms to make him more democratic and the economy under Socialism would put people over Profit of course.
it is, more broadly, "communal ownership of the means of production"
So what's the alternative solution to capitalism?
No capitalism is not racist.
But capitalism has no morals or fairness. The goal justifies the means. In capitalism everyone tries to extract as much from the system as they can whatever the means. Since it is a game played over generations, the disparity natutalky grows.
Idiot
Capitalism is for those that have a desire to succeed on their own. The people that don't like it are lazy people that expect others to fund their laziness.
That is the greatest illusion of all...that any one "makes it on their own" everything we do is built on the generations before us, and we all always profit from those around us.
@@saraa.4295 You can be your own self and live the life you want if you put work into it, and correct mistakes rather than throw pity parties and give up.
