You Mentioned (Torsion Bars) Funny Story! One Of My Bothers AWD Astro/Fari's The Torsion Bar Broke From a Weak Spot Or Imperfection Or Rust Spot in the Steel and The Long Part Of the Bar Dropped Down Stabbing My Driveway In the Forward Position, It Was Parked When It Snapped Thank God Because otherwise it Would Have Flipped The Van Had It Been Going 70mph! If Your Van Wasn't an AWD It Shouldn't Have Torsion Bars But If It Has them Always Keep Them Painted to Prevent Rust! My Brothers Bars Looked Pretty Good but Did Have Some Rust Spots, With I Had a Picture Of The Way The Bar Broke! It Turned Into a Chisel With an Perfectly Sharp Dagger At An Angle. Since That Happened, Every Time I Drive I Think About That But With The Lift Kit It Might Not Hang Down Low Enough To Dig Into The Ground? Not Sure About That? You Might Want To Have a Chevy Dealer Adjust Those So They Are Not Under More Stress.. I Took Them Out And Replaced Them In One Of My RUSTED AWD Astro Vans While Doing The Lower Ball Joint Because I Took The A-Frame Out To Drill Out The Old Joint. I Sometimes Think I Should Install Something To Retain The Bars Or A Sleeve Over Each Bar That Will Flex With The Bar But Never Came Up With a Great Idea And @ 60 I'm Not into Doing anything I Don't Have to. One Thing I Can Say About Torsion Bars Is That It Is a Deadly Design At High Speeds Depending On Where It Snaps, If It Snaps At the Rear It Will Drag But In The Front It Will Drop And Stab The Ground And Your Finished Unless Your Parked Like My Brothers Was But you Would Think It would Go While Flexing/ Huge Pot Hole etc. I Think the RWD Has a Different System Other Than Torsion Bars? Not To Make You Worry Like I Do about That But I Have Never seen anything about that happening to anyone else. Truly I wish I Had a Picture To Show You! It Was a WTF? Recipe For Disaster Had that went While Driving At Any Speed Really! I Don't Think Raising The Body Will Do Anything For The Torsion Bars If The Frame and All That Stays The Same? You Should Need To Adjust Anything? But I could Be Wrong, I would Have to Study That! My Brothers Was All Stock And It Snapped at Just Over 100K Miles But Before 150K Somewhere Around There? If One Of Those Snaps The Right Way You Will Be On an Adventure Much Like The Cork Screw At 6 Flags Amusement, Mine Have 5 Coats Of Stainless Pigment Paint (STEEL-IT) Brand. I Do That First Thing On Every Van I Buy. Oh One Other Van Hack That Has Helped My Engines Is 8oz Of Tuffoil To every Oil Change and Try To Only Use Conventional Oil Not Synthetic Trash! Synthetic Clings To Nothing, It Repels Of Parts instantly! That is Why It is So Hard To Read it On the Dipstick! Manufacturers Call Engine Rapping sounds "Cold Starts" NO It's Dry Starts From Non-Lubrication and It Goes Away After a Few Seconds Because The Oil Pumps Up To the Top Of the Engine Lubricating The Lifters/Cams Etc. Every Time You Hear The Dry Parts Your Damaging Your Engine, Parts Are Getting Scored. Conventional Motor Oil Is Fine for 5K miles and With Tuffoil That Clings Like Chainsaw Bar Oil Your Engine Will Last Forever and Use Zero Oil Between Changes. No Castrol MagnaTech Full Synthetic Sounds Good But It's Garbage Too! I Have a Corolla That Proved This Point! It Had VVT Rattles, Timing Chain Rattles, Dry Starts! I Dumped 8oz Of Tuffoil and Full Conventional Oil And Problem Solved, Took Time To get into the VVT Gear/Clutch (Pin Hole). Same with Subaru, 3 Days Parked You Could Hear The Dry Parts Until The Oil Pumped Up, Changed The Oil and 8oz Tufoil Yiou Can Park It for 2 weeks and Nothing. Synthetic Motor Oil Is Trash.
That's crazy! I don't know why everyone went to torsion bars, but there was definitely a time period when everyone was doing it. My old 95 4runner was torsion bars, and that generation of 4runner was the ugly ducking of 4runners. Everyone hated the torsion bar suspension. They went to coils the generation after, and before they had front leaf springs. I think most vehicles that had torsion bars all went back to more normal suspensions, maybe because they break? The RWD astros and safaris have coil springs up front, and a totally different system. It would be sweet if these AWD vans had coils up front too, you could probably do way better lifts if that was the case. It's crazy that a torsion bar fucked up the driveway, but like you said, way better that it happened there than on the highway. That would be so bad!
Thank you for the clip, and he asked you for a video clip explaining the engine and caretaker of a car. Keep it up. The Chevrolet is in 1992. With appreciation, and thank you.
What length bolts did you use on front spring hangers after U cut oldies out, stock length or shorter? Im doing spring swap and lift on a 94 and really don't want to drop fuel tank because of rusted lines and connections, etc.
They came with my kit and I never measured or directly compared them, but I'm pretty sire they were the were the same length. Damn near the same length at least.
No. I ordered the Journey's transfer case swap kit but it still hasn't come in the mail, it's been a long time and I'm starting to think it's lost in the mail. But hopefully it gets here soon and I can do the swap, I want 4x4 before summer is over.
Sometimes I think about how much faster my mechanical endeavors would be if I had some real good power tools, if I take on another big project I might have to throw down on some lol

Is that sitting up on just a leg jack-come on bro
I feel like I might of had jack stands or blocks under it, but maybe not. Sometimes you just have to do sketchy shit!
Stop torturing yourself get some power tools impact etc
