One often sees pictures of soldiers with their pets in wartime and wonder what happened to them. That men take care of little creatures in order to retain their humanity while they kill each other in horrible ways is one of the most perplexing paradoxes of the human condition.
As a german I'm glad for the subtitles.
That dialect is HEAVY !!!
Tirolerischer Dialekt... da haben wir Ost-Österreicher auch teilweise zu kämpfen ;)
Are you also glad that those bad boySS, nowadays became neutral or even good guySS across the Europe ?
@@gambinogambinos2439 wtf are you talking about mate?
@@underarmbowlingincidentof1981 I think least of Germany, much more of non-German peoples.
German soldiers talking real German with the right accent, you can identify the different regions they come from. The main actor seems to be from Austria with a heavy dialect, for all the people thinking "i learned German in school but I don't understand anything". I think it was hard for the soldiers too when you had to fight together with guys from north Germany and guys from Bavaria or Austria.
The chinese had a similar problem. During the siege of Nanking, chinese soldiers often would often have trouble following because they came from all over the country and literally had trouble understanding each other's dialects
My best friend speaks Plautdietsch, while I speak Bavarian. I am constantly reminded that I speak a hillbilly dialect and would be better suited to dairy farm.
The wehrmacht units were mostly filled with soldiers from the same regions though, so at least within something like a division the soldiers would speak the same dialect (and most of them could speak standard german as well)
Me a former Gi (Jersey Shore) who served in the US Army in Germany and stayed to raise a family, the dialects all across Europe is mind blowing. I live in Mittelfranken just north of Nuremberg, with the Fränkische dialect spoken in the region with Hoch Deutsch. The hardest for me to understand is the Oberpfalz, Niederbayern and Saxon German dialects. Prost und schöne Grüße!
@@fluffyusa Schöne Grüße zurück! And yes we have many dialects, my region (swabia) isn't exactly known to have an easy to understand dialect as well. 😅
Already saw the movie in german. It's fantastic, heart breaking, intelligent, about war and not about war at the same time. Watch it.
@@SuperBrisseisIt's not. But it's a sad ending nontheless.
I shed some tears.
@@achimvetter7943 Thank you. Was thinking the exact same thing. May be worth watching but I didn't want to see the fox die. It's too cute
@@achimvetter7943 Let me guess, the soldier gets killed but the French girl gets the fox.
If I watch this, and something happens to the fox, I'm suing for emotional damage.
Dude I won’t watch this unless I have a signed contract that the fox is just fine by the time the credits roll . The nazis can F off , but that fox better be ok
One film that humanizes the German Army during WWII, Rare that we see this in movies and games
Generation War (German: Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter, translated as "Our Mothers, our Fathers") is a 2013 German World War II miniseries.
It was another movie that humanized what often is dehumanized.
О, как интересно😂
Мы, чтобы не ненавидеть немцев, называем эту армию нацистской или фашистской.
А ты считаешь её немецкой? Окей!
До встречи в Берлине
I really wish that someone would make a movie based on Wojtek - the happy warrior. It's a true story that is absolutely amazing.
The young man is wearing the uniform of an Luftwaffe Obergefreiter flakArtillerie (Corporal of an Anti Aircraft gunnery unit). We get very few films that feature the AAA flak gunners of the German Air Force of WW2. Many of them were very. young. Not considered 'front line troops' towards the end of the war, many of these units were made of boys or women.
Rommels son (15 y/o at the time) manned an AA gun..not sure if he was the specific rank or not though.
Back in WW1 , there was a German corporal who found a wounded dog in France that was starving, and he nursed it back to health.
He was actually Austrian, and painting was his passion.
I hope he lived a happy life after the mud and blood of the western front ! God bless xoxo
I think this movie looks incredible. My Bichon Frise, Henri - who lived to be 18, passed away less than a year ago & this preview made me remember Henri.....who is/was irreplaceable.
God bless and condolences.
I lost my Pomeranian xSilky Terrier named Scoobie (Scoobs) to Kidney disease 2.5 weeks ago at 11.5 years old.
He was my baby, like my son, my entire world and one of a kind.
I'm heartbroken so I feel your loss too.
A movie that doesn’t portray the Germans as monsters, now that is refreshing.
Not all Germans were monsters, many of them were decent people only obeying orders.
Haven't watched it yet but judging by the trailer, finally a film that humanizes the average German soldier.
"Finally"? People have been making that movie since the 1950s. 'Der Brocke'. 'Das Boot'. 'Stalingrad'. Etc.
I find it funny how in almost every account I read by the average German soldier, they always deny almost any involvement in the atrocities committed. They always say it was the SS who were the only ones killing civilians.
Be a light in the darkness.
a movie where the germans aren't the bad guy for once? Im in !
I was just thinking about this after rewatching band of brothers. In the last episode, a surrendering German general asks to speak to his men one last time, and the Americans listen to it being translated. It’s so affecting, because they all realise that the German soldiers are just like them. They’ve suffered and fought and cried just the same, following the orders of their CO, just the same. When the interview the old guys, one of them says how he thought about how they could have been friends if the world hadn’t gone mad around them. Obviously there were actual Baddies who did appalling things, but the majority were just regular guys, no better or worse than anyone else.
@@CaroB055regular guys who voluntarily fought for Nazi ideology, which even at a glance is unforgivable.
Won't lie, looks like a good movie, and I will likely go see it. But honestly one fox, or just being a "regular guy", doesn't excuse the choices made by the German people. They weren't just soldiers, they stood by and witnessed the wholesale slaughter of human beings, the Creation of death camps, and participated in the conquest of otherwise peaceful nations on the basis of ideology.
The Germans aren't the only people to participate in such atrocities throughout history, but they are the only ones that commit atrocities and then claim to be victims after the fact.
@@CaroB055yes, the German Wehrmacht have been so insanely misrepresented in cinema today and its very sad to see. Most of the German army werent the bloodthirsty fanatical SS type soldiers we were made to think and believe. Thats the power of propaganda and goes to show you that history is truly written by the victors.
@@crowe6891 well not necessarily. We were putting an end to a lot of bad… weve just fallen far from what we once were because of the current political climate being basically ran by communists and liberals alike. We need a more conservative president in America in order to put an end to the bullshit were being forced to deal with before it ultimately destroys us
@@crowe6891 germans were definetly the bad guys in ww2. i don`t think that mass extermination of people because of their ethnicity is a good thing.
l saw this last summer in Vienna .. it is an incredible, wonderful film, based on the true story of the film-maker’s grandfather in Austria. l loved it, and am so glad it is available with English subtitles now.
Now THIS looks good!
So appropriate! Fox and Swastika together.
If movie was about desert fox that be really interesting, even enemy can be respected
Ein Wunder, dass es auch anständige Kriegsfilme gibt. Wo der Deutsch kein Monster ist.
What he said. Edit (after seeing the translation): Everyone loves a German to hate.
Да да... Вы совершенно случайно устроили геноцид😂
Кто они были, если не монстры?
please please i beg you.. that the litle one not get hurt
I saw this on my way to Vienna in October and was impressed. This is better than The Captain IMO
The Captain is a great film but very distressing and I’m not easily upset. Can I watch The Fox ?
I’m from West Yorkshire, UK and had the great fortune to spend a lot of time in Wels, Oberösterreich where the foundations for my German were laid down. Watching the trailer, I was aware of a warm, comforting sensation spreading through my soul, not just from the caring of the little fox but mainly from the really strong Austrian dialect. I think it is a Tiroler dialect. Could anyone confirm, please?
It's a dialect from the Pinzgau region in Salzburg, that's where the writer/director is from, as well as his great-grandfather, who this movie is about.
Desert fox. That one is a forest fox. Less certain if about Rommel the general.
Perfecta peli para esta año 2024
The Rapid Trailer logo song is magical
This film will be one of the first to acc portray German soilders as human men rather than monsters like there often portrayed
that fox better survive,..
Just saw this film. It's very powerful and moving. Highly recommended
Too accurate, always sweet sorrow! 🧸
Holy crap. That's the best animal CGI I've ever seen.😍
Awesome movie.
Just showed us the whole movie, thanks!
I'm absolutely in.
This is probably the first movie I've seen where someone is wearing early WWI Austrian helmets.
Touching 😊
Well, either one dies, or they both do
Good to see. But would also like to see a film about Woitek.
Not the desert Fox?
This has made my list to watch when it comes out
No chickens were harmed in the making of this movie.
Looks worth a watch
They better not kill the fox ;)
Looks like a good movie.
The Queen says ..'Wear the fox hat' and Charles replies..'It's in Austria Mummy'. A great punchline to a fantastic gag.. OK.
...I'll get my coat....
A beautiful concept for a movie. Humanity and kindness to animals amidst the chaos of war. Bonus points for the historical accuracy and the Austrian dialect.
Looking forward to this!
Perfection 🦊
I looks like it has potential. I'll watch it
This seems like it has the potential to be gut wrenchingly sad
Another day - another movie about WW2 - bloody hell.
When I saw the thumbnail I tought this was another annual dumb action filled ww2 movie, but this is different. It's not a topic oftenly touched in historic movies, the bond between the soldier and the pet, plus it´s a german movie wich is also very uncommon, I'm excited to see this
You have a German name.
Or maybe it's just your uppinin about that awful and destruction war.
I saw the thumbnail with a burning NAZI symbol and thought this was called "The FoxNews" 😂
Looks interesting.
Time for these movies to move to move on to today's wars
What does the Fix say! Ring ring ring dinga dinga ding!
😭 beautiful
Never let the fox get in the way of a good story!
Reminds me of a west Andreson film
Where is the Field Marshall?
This looks great
when is this out?
Shoulda outfoxed the enemy😂😂
Thought this was about Rommel
I can't believe this is actually about a fox
🥺🙏🤝
and we, poles had a famous bear during WWII:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wojtek_(bear)
If these allied soldiers can see their countries now...
Oooofff, some did and don't like it at all. Did you see the interview for a WW2 Marine vet? He say "...everything we did and fought so hard for is just going down the drain!" As he was tearing up. It is sad.
I think many WW2 vets regret fighting the Axis now after seeing what has happened to their countries now.
The nazis were sexual deviants. Look at the comments. "OH good german with a fox!" They lost for a reason. Inherent weakness
What uniform does thus character wear?
German Air Force. Looks like an anti aircraft gun unit, you can tell by the red markings on his collar
Will I watch this for the fox? maybe.
Is this the sequel to Fantastic Mr Fox?
hmmm like the disney movie the fox and the hound lol we should call this movie THE FOX AND THE SOLDIER lol
Saw this at Sundance. In the end, he finds out that the fox is half Jewish and has to leave it in the woods. Heartbreaking film.
Interesting
Amazing story 🥳🎉👍
Action is missing in "The Fox".
Read the title, saw the thumbnail, immediately thought of Fox News.😊
where can i see this in the UK?
It’s going to be Tarka the otter all over again. 😢
The animals make you a good person.
Rommel’s origin story.
General Fox!
sogar in bayrisch/österreichischer Dialekt. Nice
The movie was good. I didn't think it was realistic when the fox started talking though
Now we start to see the other way round. They can't kill the truth.
Oh god …… I have a bad feeling about that Fox …..
Does the fox die? I'm deciding if it watch it and I can't seem to find out
I tried to Google it the fox dies bc I can’t take that kind of emotional turmoil 😭 but then I thought if the soldier dies it’s just as bad… I can’t handle it man lol
If that fox doesn’t make it…… I’ll never watch another movie again
What’s the name of the music?
Where can I see this?
run run la pelicula.
I love that we are seeing more films that are humanizing the soldiers of the Third Reich.
because they were humans, the jews in hollywood dehumanized them for too long and now we can easily find the truth by just looking at israel today, and who were the true inhumans.
Maybe in next film these Nazi foxloving biker will save British soldiers in Dunkerk
This sounds a little like Pax (the book)
When it out
So its not about General Rommel then?
That's what I was thinking too haha
Maybe the fox puts it's paw on a strategic location on their map or something
at first I thought so😄
I thought he's called desert fox?!
@@ex-soldier4341 He was.
