I love that, bcI believe kids need time to have fun and enjoy themselves. My favorite memories from my childhood were watching “Sweet Valley High” with my Mom (she worked 8 hour overnight shifts as a nurse) and brother after school, and having pizza for dinner and watching a movie that me or my brother picked with both my Mom and Dad on Saturday nights. We had to clean our rooms as well, as long as it was before bedtime Sunday. I imagine your kids will have happy memories of these weekends when they grow up😊
I always feel SO attacked when they talk about going to bed with the sun out in the summer time because.... best believe my kids are in bed at 8:30 on a weekday- rain or shine lol
I think my parents had a great setup. Basically I was supposed to be in my room at 8pm (later 10pm) and not make noise. But they didn’t care if I was sleeping or reading, playing games, colouring pictures as long as I was quiet and dealt with the consequences of staying up late. I had problems falling asleep so I often stayed up late and did stuff to get tired. Developed a pretty good routine of my own that way.
