My in-laws are stringently abusive to my wife, and my mother has divorced my father after 25 years of marriage. Should I still associate with them? Should I bring my child around people who badmouth her parents? I want these relationships to be healed, and pray for the undoing of these knots to our Lady, but I have drawn a line in the sand so as not to take the abuse. Am I just supposed to continually be abused by people who aren’t sorry, who backbite and who look upon me and my wife with malice? I just thought I was supposed to pray for the mending of these relationships and trust in the Lord, and move forward when the time is right. This makes it sound like I’m supposed to continually set myself up for degradation and humiliation. What say you?
It's very hard to do so but yes I do try.i remember my neighbour bite me on my arm just coz I was stopping her to beat her son.(she was beating her children with electric pipe and left marks...6years old son and 4years daughter)its really hard to forgive but I always pray for the children and her to have good heart for her kids....amen
