    Theodore Robert Bundy (né Cowell; November 24, 1946 - January 24, 1989) was an American serial killer who kidnapped, raped and murdered dozens of young women and girls during the 1970s and possibly earlier. After more than a decade of denials, he confessed to 30 murders committed in seven states between 1974 and 1978. His true victim total is unknown.
    Bundy often employed charm to disguise his murderous intent when kidnapping victims, and extended this tactic vis-a-vis law enforcement, the media and the criminal justice system to maintain his claims of innocence. His usual technique involved approaching a female in public and luring her to a vehicle parked in a more secluded area, at which point she would be beaten unconscious, restrained with handcuffs and taken elsewhere to be sexually assaulted and killed.
    To this end, Bundy typically simulated having a physical impairment such as an injury in order to convince his target that he was in need of assistance with something, or would dupe her into believing he was an authority figure. He frequently revisited the bodies of those he abducted, grooming and performing sex acts on the corpses until decomposition and destruction by wild animals made further interactions impossible. He decapitated at least 12 of his victims, keeping their severed heads as mementos in his apartment. On a few occasions, he broke into homes at night and bludgeoned, maimed, strangled and/or sexually assaulted his victims in their sleep.
    In 1975, Bundy was arrested and jailed in Utah for aggravated kidnapping and attempted criminal assault. He then became a suspect in a progressively longer list of unsolved homicides in several states. Facing murder charges in Colorado, Bundy engineered two dramatic escapes and committed further assaults in Florida, including three murders, before his ultimate recapture in 1978. For the Florida homicides, he received three death sentences in two trials, and was executed at Florida State Prison in Raiford on January 24, 1989.
    In August 1974, Bundy received a second acceptance from the University of Utah Law School and moved to Salt Lake City, leaving Kloepfer in Seattle. While he called Kloepfer often, he dated "at least a dozen" other women. As he studied the first-year law curriculum a second time, he was devastated to find out that the other students "had something, some intellectual capacity", that he did not. He found the classes completely incomprehensible. "It was a great disappointment to me," he said.[131] A new string of homicides began the following month, including two that would remain undiscovered until Bundy confessed to them shortly before his execution.
    On October 18, Melissa Anne Smith-the 17-year-old daughter of the police chief of Midvale, another Salt Lake City suburb-disappeared after leaving a pizza parlor at around 9.30 p.m. Her nude body was found in a nearby mountainous area nine days later; post-mortem examination indicated that she may have remained alive for up to seven days following her disappearance.

      @@SCOTTONTAPE Not sure if you noticed, but Melissa's buried between her father and her younger sister Jolene. Jolene, or Jo, as she like to be called, married outside the church at age 18, settled with her husband in the Las Vegas area, and would go on to raise a large family of her own, yet when her time came (complications from MS) a week or so short of the 40th anniversary of her sister's murder, she chose to be buried at Melissa''s side in Midvale under a matching headstone with the words "Families are forever." a touching post-script to the story I think.

    I grew up in Salt Lake. My dad worked for the government and was called to interview Bundy the night he was arrested in SL. My dad, who was one of the best in studying character, which was why he was asked to talk to Bundy, came home and basically said that Bundy was a good kid and didn't do what he was arrested for. My dad has passed away, but Im sure he was stunned to learn later that Bundy was guilty. Bundy was that good at deceiving people. Great job as always Scott ❤

    I read a full page of interviews with women he had any type of relationship. The neighbor downstairs they got pretty close, she helped a lot in talking with the cops in leading to his guilty prosecution. He use to jump out and scare her, she realized he loved seeing the look of fear in women. She’d also wake up one night, he in her room “Your door wasn’t shut and locked, just wanted to let you know.” It’s crazy to hear all these women share that dark side that the public didn’t see from him. He was always dark and psychotic. Holding one girlfriend under water in Washington trying to untie her top. Another girl he scared to death while a group of them were going river rafting, pulled her top down made everyone uncomfortable because they didn’t know each other. He then untied the tube she was riding in from the main raft, it was her first time and she was completely scared. He also got very angry with the group, they never saw that before. Clearly had issues. Anyone lucky enough to share those stories, because he didn’t become murderous.

    I dont know if anyone has ever seen the rather short video with his younger brother and its just terrible! His little brother loved his big brother and when Ted was finally exposed for what he was! He later developed PTSD,drug addiction and other issues! Ted literally destroyed soooo many lives!

    • @sploofygaming5446
      @sploofygaming5446 10 місяців тому

      Indeed. And when his brother shows the picture and says that he used to feel happiness looking at the photo, he doesn't feel shit anymore because of what Ted did. It always gets me.

    Welcome to Utah Scott. Hope you get the great sites and is full of crazy and creepy history. For a possible add to this Bundy crime history. There is alleged house that he was staying at, in a part of Emmigration canyon. There is a chained off area and now just a foundation and a cellar door left. It’s a possible urban legend and paranormal peeps go at the spot. There is weird things happening around there. Good you went to grave and paid respects. I went to her grave a few times. I use to live in the area. I was a kid when Bundy ran around and did his murders. We thought he was coming to get us lol. But have a drink and some sites on me. I still reside in Utah and most natives want to forget this history. Thanks for doing this and great vlog
