I’ve got two of the E coats 16/20kg and must say they are Fantastic! Grip is definitely better with some chalk On them.took two weeks to get to Ireland which wasn’t bad.Nice review man👍🏼
I purchased a set of the USA powder coat kettlebells from Rogue. I have the 8kg - 32kg. In the powder coat version, the 20kg and below are made in Ohio, out of class 30 grey iron, meanwhile the 24kg and up are made in Michigan, and out of ductile iron. Personally I feel like the ductile iron a lot better. They feel smoother to me and have larger handle windows, although that may just be due to size. Makes we wish I would’ve gotten the e-coat version. Supposedly e-coat is a lot more durable than powder coating as well, but I’ve heard people complain that it’s too slippery. I live in Columbus as well, and it sucks that they won’t let you come to the store to see them first. Not to mention I have to pay for shipping, when it’s 10 minutes down the road. Grr... I still would like to get the 36 and 40 to complete my set. Or I could start my competition kb collection from kettlebell USA.
I have both powder and e coat 44lbs and the ecoat bell is Significantly fatter. So much so my hand placements were different. E coat is a lot less comfortable. When performing a floor chest press the ecoat dug into my forearm and had to hold it differently then the powder coat. Had no issues with the powdered coat.
I have only used competition kettlebells and I only just ordered a 24 kg cast iron from Rogue. Bit more expensive here in Australia so didn’t get the E Coat. I’ll have to wait and see what it’s like when it arrives.
I have two Rogue cast iron powder coat kb: 12 & 32kg, both manufactured in China (bought before US started manufacturing) and they have excellent quality! I also have two 24kg KettlebellKings with same quality as Rogue. Thanks for reviews! I think of buying two 16kg from Rogue and was hesitant which one to choose - US or China and you made me a big favor by reviewing these!
Hi Joe, I am new to kettlebells and I got two 44 Lbs Rogue and I saw the same issue. I saw the same thing, also the bottom of one of them is wider than the other. I am glad you are reviewing this brand.
My two cents, for whatever it’s worth. I’m relatively new to training with kettlebells (8 months) and I’m happy with my 16 kg Rogue e-coat. I bought it to double my first 16 kg which is a powder coat TRX kettlebell, and I have no complaints. It is indeed a bit of a more texture finish than the powder coat, I’m not sure it’s entirely appropriate to call it “rough”. I don’t think I’ve detected any prominent ridges. Maybe it’s a quality control issue or due to the variation of which state it’s made in?
I think QC Is a big factor and right now with kettlebells being so incredibly popular people are upset that they're taking so long to get to them that quality control might be a little bit laxx
It would have been nice to see if the weight was accurate and the same on each Rogue kettlebell since you mentioned clearly the apparent difference in size.
Thanks for the review,Joe. I had purchaced their 24k powdercoat yesterday. I was curiose about the e coat but i know i like powdercoat. That difference does though makes me question too. Wow
I have one of each, different weights but I'm not a fan of the e-coating, I also find the seam on my e-coated one is bothersome when doing higher reps.
@@kettlebellmusclegain Electrophoretic Painting was original introduced as an anti-corrosion coating for cars. Rogue uses it on some of their barbells as well. It is between the oxide coatings and cerakote in terms of durability. It still scratches of course. To check them out I bought two 16KG e-coat bells, and I am happy to say there is no seam. I had heard that the e-coat rogue bells were being shipped with a seam, which is a real shame I think. They should up their quality control out of that factory.
They look amazing overall, but for some reason that visible seam looks a bit off to me. :( I reached out to Rogue and this is by design as per their customer service.
Nearly similar but this is why I like to use all types and sizes of handles. As that's what will give you the most overall grip strength . All thicknesses.
Not that I want to push you to buy a bunch of bells, but there is also Rep Fitness that is similarily priced, or even a bit cheaper than Rogue. So far I like most of the Rep Fitness bells I have, except for the 16KG, maybe which have a smaller diameter handle for some reason. The 20,24 and 28 all are much more consistent.
I have the same edge on my 32k powder coat, pre-pandemic so probably Chinese. I'm assuming the difference in size from different manufacturers is from a lack of mold uniformity, which is hard to make sense of. Also it may just be my eyes but is there more weight in the handle of the shorter bell? Looks slightly fatter from here..
Although if you are using a single kettlebell competition bells might have a better handle they have 33 or 35 mm handles versus the larger ones of the cast irons
@@kettlebellmusclegain I want to buy two kettlebells. I want to start practicing with both hands. I have adjustable Ironmaster kettlebell..first I want to buy two 16kg kettlebells and two 20kg kettlebells
I was very disappointed by my E-coats. The casting quality was very poor. Very chunky and not smooth. Huge seams on the handle. Rogue replaced one for me and the new bell was worse than the first one. Not to mention very small windows. Try cleaning one of those and it'll destroy your wrist. Sold them all and got Paradigms. I did get a used USA powder coat and it seemed to be a higher quality casting, it's from a different foundry.
I just got 2 e-coat bells (a 24kg and a 28kg) and my biggest complaint is the window size compared to the bells I have from Onnit. I love doing cleans and unless your technique is flawless (which mine isn't) your wrists are gonna get punished.
