Great video! thanks for the explanation. One thing though, the 4th sound has to do with the active filling of the ventricle (due to atrial contraction), not the filling of the atrium. Just like the 3rd is the passive filling of the ventricle, the 4th is the active. Thank you again for the great video!

Helped me understand WAY better. My teacher brushed right through this part of the lesson so fast, it was hard for me to retain all of the useful information that I needed. Also just looking it over in the book trying to understand it by yourself is kind of challenging. Much thanks and appreciation!

Thank you so very much for this video sir! We had this same diagram presented to us in our NP advanced pathophysiology/physiology course and the instructor just blew through it as if it was something we had been previously exposed to. The only thing that was clear was that it supposedly represented the cardiac cycle. Thanks to your video I can now go back to the diagram and actually UNDERSTAND what's going on. Thank you so very much!

Yes you are correct. The ventricle AV valves are open and at ventricular low pressure (after relaxation) so the blood will pour in from the atria. Remember you have all that blood coming into the atria from the Vena Cava which makes atria have more pressure than vent. In young people ventricles actually get over 80% of the blood before the atria contract. When you get older however the ventricles get stiffer so that atrial pumping mechanism becomes more important to squeeze that blood in.
