Empire chest of drawer renovation not restoration - re-edited 2023 version

- I put a lot of time into this restoration and learned so much from doing it. Sadly this video broke the UA-cam rules and was rightly removed.
I wanted to bring this video back to everyone. It was a special piece for me to do and truly stunning end result. So the video has been re-edited for your enjoyment.
I had my suspicions what was under the years of dirt and i could not believe my eyes when i uncovered it. This is a long way from my usual furniture flip, i found this antique empire chest at auction. Its been unloved and mistreated for years.
This was a very enjoyable project for me to i am delighted with the end result while it might not be for everyone it will help this piece find a new home and be loved again.

Glad I gave you a tickle. I loved this piece I put a lot of time into it. I was so sad UA-cam (rightly) removed it. So I knew with a heavy re-edit it would come back. I am working on a piece today that I know you will love - Its signed and dated 1880. Video might be a month away still got a lot of work to do but so exciting to find it.

Really, it's best that you've reuploaded this, Something I've noticed over the years is that the older videos from the earlier starting of the channel don't get many views, even though they've got great content, so re-upping will get this video more views than before, as it deserves. That came out so nicely, what a transformation!
Glad you liked the result it was so pretty. I wont say all of my older videos are great content but this was a special project for me so I wanted to bring it back - It might do better than before but it might not but that's okay as long as those who watch it enjoy it.

Amazing piece!!!!!! I love what you did with it! The only think I believe would have made it even more majestic is a gloosy finish on the black top... The shine on the top would have blended it more with the magnificent wood of the rest of the piece. Thanks so much for sharing
I think your right about the top, In doing this piece I did feel bad about painting the top so tried to hide it some. I should have embraced it and gone glossy.
Wow!!!! What a magnificent piece!!!! Up at Mommas old Victorian farmhouse, sits one of these beauties! She's 88 and its always been in the upstairs. Hmmm, guess who's going to fix that baby up just?!!!! I hope its the same grain as yours!!!!
I love these pieces so sad that level of gaining is hard to find these days. In my part of the country there are so many of these and all most always they have grain just as stunning or ever more so than this one. So if you get to tackle your mothers one very good chance it will be amazing.
Just watched this Friday at my mom's home in Spfld, IL. It is gorgeous. Then yesterday I was in a Salvation Army store in Spfld, IL. They had that dresser there with the mirror!!! Sorry I did not get a picture. It was just brought in by a guy whose brother died. The mirror was gorgeous. One of those square tiltable mirrors. On top of a drawer and two little side drawers. Original top. A small piece of veneer missing on third drawer. They were asking $129 for it.
I am working on a piece like that right now with two little drawers and a mirror but in a walnut. So I can really picture that but styled to match an Empire piece it must have looked amazing. That is a really good price too for one that's done.
Usually these pieces have a framed mirror that is around a foot tall attached to the back. Would most likely have been decorated with same type of corbels as on bottom legs.
