One of the most wonderful actors and singers out there. That poor man deserved so much. If only he could see how much joy he still brings people 50 years after his death
I find it very heartwarming that Disney always had Cliff's back despite all his troubles, if it wasn't for them giving him work on their records and TV programs i think he may have been gone much sooner.
This dude really could sing and his legacy as our favorite cricket will live on
I'm grateful for the very sensitive way you handled the topic of addiction in this episode. It really is sad to see what addiction does to people, but even sadder to see people treat addicts as "lesser", and I'm glad the folks at Disney Records had sympathy for him.
He is one of my favorite singers of all time. Great video
One of my favorite movies ever, and Jimmy Cricket is my favorite!! I love Cliff Edward’s voice
On the album cover, for Ukulele Ike, the cartoon of him looks like the cricket.
I took a closer look and the album has the copyright of the Walt Disney Company, so it makes perfect sense!
I love Cliff Edwards. He's the voice of Jiminy Cricket from Pinocchio. :)
ik and hes great
Much of Cliff's work is on iTunes -- Paper Moon is another of his notable songs, along with other well-known jazz standards. They're masterful, heartfelt renditions.
Clifton Avon "Cliff" Edwards (June 14, 1895 - July 17, 1971)
i love this guy so much
Cool !
There's no other than hearing him play the original Jiminy Cricket in the 1940 version of Disney's Pinocchio
He's my favorite character
Maybe it's because I remember it from my childhood ..But just watched the new version..But there's no replacing the original Wish upon a star ..
It's "PINOCCHIO", not "PINNOCHIO". (It seems silly to see the image of the Pinocchio storybook spelled correctly, and the tag line under it not spelled correctly.)
Other than that, this was an interesting minibar of Cliff Edwards.
Very interesting and lots of great info about a great legend. (It's a little ironic and sad that the title "Pinocchio" keeps getting misspelled in your captions, though, especially since "Pinocchio" is such a vital part of this retrospective!)
I know!!! 😩If you watch my Correction video you'll see me apologise for it. I'm not the best speller, and this was pretty early on in the channels life. Unfortunately I can't replace it without loseing all the comments and views 😓
Don't forget he was the voice of Johnny Appleseed in that Disney animation
Could you PLEASE do Sterling Holloway and Verna Felton?
Of course! I'll add them to the list! Those are really good suggestions, I want to add Ed Wynn at some point as well.
Also do Alan Tudyk.
❤❤❤
HE WAS BORN JUNE 14TH NOT JULY 14TH
Pathé, two syllables. Path-ay
I thought he was born June 14, 1895.
Welp, your right its june, not july. Oops
I love how the jada cartoon him looks a little like jiminy, also have u done Paul freeze?
Also Phil Harris?
Consider him added to the list! I had no idea about him!
@@bigal2760 I LOVE phl Harris, definately on the list!!
If Disney studios did so much to care for Cliff Edward's why did they Not do the same for Bobby Driscoll? He appeared in Disney Classic movies as "So Dear to My Heart " and "Song of the South" and was the voice of Peter Pan.
Yet he's buried in a pauper's grave somewhere in New York. I havve heard
When Bobby showed up at the Disney gate, he was turned away! Shame on
Disney!!! I'm sure this was after Walt's
Passing, he would have showed more compassion.
After Walt, Disney has turned to "manure" and I will never return unless they revert to this era!
I know this may seem taboo for the people of today but I adore his performance as “dandy” or Jim Crow from dumbo some people claim the portrayal as racist I see it as the exact opposite
I agree it's a really touchy issue. I believe you can recognize that it is inherently racist and problematic, but still enjoy the performance. It's hard to say whether there was any respect for black entertainment behind what they were creating, although it kind of feels like it. I'm open to other views and discussions of course. But that's where I currently stand. I will say there seems to be a big difference between this song and what makes a red man red from Peter Pan, which is straight up making fun of Native Americans the whole song, extremely very obviously racist. but I digress. an interesting discussion :D
@kyewilson7837
I agree
❤️🙏🏻🇨🇦
I’m glad cliff got treated well by Disney yet Bobby Driscoll was treated so horribly by the house of mouse
Richard Percy Jones (who voiced Pinocchio) should have been his conscience Edwards was divorced 4 times due to his Pleasure Island-like activities a stark opposite to what Jiminy Cricket would do not to mention these activities left him penniless in the end
i am sorry but i prefer ove sprogø who does the vice on danish thats the one i grwon up upon
petr pan
It's pronounced: "pa - THAY' "...Just sayin'.
Thank you for being nice about it :)
